Bill Jacobs BMW would like to address the concerns expressed by Ms** regarding her BMW X3.5i that was brought to our dealership for servicingMs** is concerned that there were additional issues with the vehicle after having brought the vehicle in for service on 5-9-
Ms** brought her vehicle in for cooling system concerns on 5-9-at 87,milesRepair order XXXXXX was generatedThe water pump and thermostat were replaced, along with the coolant hosesThe repairs were completed and the vehicle was returned to the customer on 5-14-
On 6-17-2015, Ms** brought the vehicle back in for service stating that the hood would not openShe expressed that she thought this was due to the previous servicing of the vehicleThe vehicle was taken in for service and repair order XXXXXX was generatedThe technician determined that the hood latches had seized due to rust buildupThis condition caused the hood release cable to stretch and breakIt was necessary to replace two hood latches and two release cables to correct the conditionAs an act of goodwill the dealership offered to cover the labor charges of $400, if the customer wanted to pay for the parts required to correct the issueThe customer accepted the offer and the repairs were madeThe customer paid $for the repairs and the car was delivered back to Ms** on 6-27-
On 6-27-2015, Ms** returned to the dealership to take her vehicleWhen she arrived, it was found that the check engine light was onRepair order XXXXXX was generatedThe vehicle contained faults in the computer system relating to communication along one of the multiplexing data lines for the engine control managementIt was determined that there was corrosion to some of the wiring in the trunk of the vehicleThe wiring was repaired and the communication issues were resolvedThe check engine light was repaired after correcting the wiring issuesThe customer was not charged for the repairsAdditionally, the amount paid by the customer for the hood release concern has been refunded to Ms**
In resolution of this matter the customer was requesting that the amount for the hood latch repair be refunded, and that the vehicle be returned without the check engine light onWe have obliged the customer on both of these requestsThe vehicle was returned to the customer on 7-1-Please consider this matter resolved and closed
