responding to your recent letter concerning the servicing of your 1999 Buick Regal. On September 4, you brought your 1999 Buick Regal to Bill Kay for a GM recall and a check engine light. [redacted] checked your vehicle in and your authorized an inspection for the check engine light. The Regal was driven from the service drive to the mechanic's stall were the brake line ruptured. The mechanic inspected the brake lines which were found to be brittle and in poor condition. While inspecting for the check engine light it was discovered that the spark plug wires were loose and the evap purge valve and flow sensor were disconnected. These items would be a potential cause for the check engine light to display and needed to be repaired. You were notified and declined all repairs. In reviewing your visit I find nothing that supports your assertion that Bill Kay Employees caused your vehicles current condition. More likely is your vehicles advanced age and high miles (190,000 your estimate, actual miles unknown) Bill Kay has been in business serving Downers Grove for over 40 years and has earned an A+ rating with the Revdex.com and General Motors [redacted] of Excellence Award for outstanding customer service for the past 17 years. Bill Kay did not earn this status by breaking customer's vehicles. It is always a difficult decision when choosing to repair an older vehicle, weighing the cost vs the vehicles actual value. If you still own the vehicle and would like to have the repairs completed by Bill Kay I would be happy to see if we could do something to assist you. But I cannot authorize the $1254 you are requesting.
