Billings and Sons Plumbing

Review: In March of 2014, [redacted] from Billings and Sons Plumbing repaired a slab leak for us by doing a pipe reroute . He promised a life warranty on his work. We paid him $1960 via 3 checks. Unfortunately, he never provided us with receipts, but I have the check stubs.

On 6/4/15, we had a leak that was a result of his repair. [redacted] came the day I called him and fixed the leak. It was from where he capped off the pipe with the original slab leak. Unfortunately, this leak occurred below our furnace and AC intake duct and required professional dry out. When I asked about having his insurance cover this dry out to make sure we did not develop mold problems, [redacted] informed me that his insurance does not cover this work. He offered to purchase two dehumidifiers and do the dry out himself. However, due to the location of the leak and the fact that he is not a water damage remediation expert, we were not comfortable with that. We offered to have him apply the cost of the two dehumidifiers he planned to buy to our water damage repair bill and we would cover rest, provided he do the dry wall work. [redacted] accepted this.

When [redacted] showed up to remove the drywall needed to provide access to dry out the leak area, he informed me that he could not afford to pay us the money after all. Instead, he would pay us $100 that day and $100 later. He would also provide us with $500 of plumbing services to cover the remainder. We accepted, but asked him to provide us an I owe you note. He agreed to this, but asked me to write it up and stated he would sign it when he came back to put a new piece of drywall up in our garage. He also removed a sewage access cap without our permission and stated he would start working of his debt by repairing it.

Unfortunately, in spite of many attempts to contact him via his phone, text message, and email (all documented), I can not get a hold of him to resolve this situation. On top of that he created an unsafe situation regarding the sewage cap.Desired Settlement: At this point, we do not want [redacted], to come back out to our house. Given that we have young children, I did the drywall repair myself. We will also have to pay a different plumber to fix the sewage access cap that Trent removed by drilling a hole into it.

Given this, I would like the following:

-Receipt for the original work

-The remaining $600 for the water dry up bill, because we are not comfortable with Trent doing any additional work, given how difficult it is to contact him and the fact that his insurance does not cover the work he did on our house.

-The repair of the sewage access cap, estimated at $100 (materials, plus one hour of a different plumbers time)

If Trent is not willing to honor this, we would like to make other consumers aware of 3 things:

1. How difficult it is to reach Trent if you have a problem with his work

2. He did not have insurance that covered the work he did on our house

3. He has been unwilling to provide receipts for his work
