Facts of this event are as follows:Mr. [redacted] damaged his crankcase (not an oil pan), by over tightening his oil drain plug bolt, and therefore stripping the threads out of the crankcase.  When Mr. [redacted] came to us for repairs, I gave him two options. First, he had already damaged the crankcase...

and would have to replace it and pay for the exchange of it.Second, repair the threads by installing a coupling onto the crankcase to serve as the new oil drain hole.  Mr. [redacted] chose the second option (he obviously didn't want to pay for replacing the crankcase he messed up).We made the repair, poured oil into the crankcase, and there was a leak.  We raised up the unit and found oil leaking from the crankcase seam and immediately understood why Mr. [redacted] had unfortunately over tightened the oil drain bolt and stripped the crankcase hole. (Explanation: Mr. [redacted] had an oil leak and assumed it was leaking at the drain plug.  He over tightened and stripped the threads in his crankcase in order to stop the leak where he believed it was located.  I would make this same repair again today to save a customer from having to spend five or six hundred dollars for the case, plus the monies to replace them.  Here is another fact, if Mr. [redacted] had gone straight to Cowboy's, he would have had to spend the same money for the case and the labor for installation.  Now Mr. [redacted] has a usable crankcase, which is more than when he first came to us with the problem.  Mr. [redacted]'s statement claims a welder found that we had got the case too hot causing it to damage the gasket.  If this were true, the Revdex.com would have received several more complaints of similar nature.Mr. [redacted] was also told that they did in fact install gaskets on some of the 4 wheeler's, but there is still no Honda OEM paper gasket that is used between the crankcase on Mr. [redacted]s 2007 Honda TRX 500FE.  There is however, a pliable sealant that is used during assembly of these crankcases.  I reject Mr. [redacted]'s desired settlement due to the fact that when he came to us with his problem, it was a total loss.

I am rejecting this response because:It is funny because there is no damage ever said about any radiator on the 4 wheeler. The said person at Bill's cycle is now imagining things that was never said and places that the 4 wheeler was never BEEN taken to because and the place only I only took the 4 wheeler to was him and told him of the stripped bolt on the drain. He never said anything about changing out any part of my 4 wheeler nor anything else except that he could in stall a heli coil and everything would be ok until they messed that up and wanted more money to install a coupling to repair the stripped plug to which they messed up and the repairs are leaking. NO ONE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT RUNNING DOWN THE ROAD AND HITTING SOMETHING IN THE ROAD BECAUSE I WAS UP FRONT AND TOLD THE LIEING MAN THAT THE PLUG WAS STRIPPED WHEN I TRIED REPLACING THE PLUG WHEN I GOT THROUGH CHANGING OIL. IF I HAD JUST GOTTEN THROUH CHANGING THE OIL IN MY 4 WHEELER HOW CAN I HIT ANYTHING AND THERE WAS NOT ANY DAMAGE NOR HAS THERE BEEN ANY DAMAGE TO MY RADIATOR AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANYONE TOUCHED MY 4 WHEELER EXCEPT BILL'S TO THIS DAY. THIS MAN HAS LIED FROM THE GET GO BECAUSE HE HAS NEVER SUGGESTED ANY REPAIRS UNTIL AFTER THEY MESSED UP THE HELI COIL REPAIR AND THEN WANTED MORE MONEY LIKE THEY HAVE IN THE PAST. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT BILL'S DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING AND NEEDS TO FIND ANOTHER PROFESSION BECAUSE HE HAS CHANGED HIS STORY THREE TIMES SINCE I FILED THIS COMPLAINT. I AM NOW ASKING MORE BECAUSE OF THE LIES THAT HE HAS TOLD YOU AND EVERYBODY AND BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT THE USE OF THE 4 WHEELER FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS NOW. IF THIS PERSON WOULD OF ADMITTED THAT THEY HAD MESSED UP AND FIXED MY 4 WHEELER THEN WE WOULD NOT BE GOING THROUGH ALL THIS FOR NO REASON. PLEASE TELL ME THIS LIEING PERSON WILL NOW ADMITT THAT THEY MESSED UP AND WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AND HAVE A QUALIFIED HONDA PERSON REPAIR MY 4 WHEELER. THIS MAN HAS IN THE PAST AND IS STILL LIEING FROM THE START. THE OLD SAYING IS THAT HE WOULD RATHER CLIMB A 20 FOOT LADDER AND TELL A LIE THAN STAND ON THE GROUND, LOOK YOU IN  THE EYE AND TELL THE TRUTH THAT THEY MESSED UP. I REALLY HATE THAT THIS IS THE KIND OF PEOPLE WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH TO REPAIR OUR EQUIPMENT AND DO IT IN A PROFESSIONAL WAY AND STAND ACCOUNTABLE FOR WHAT THEY DO.
Sincerely,

Anyone and everyone that reads this exchange needs to understand the failure at hand.  Mr. Gxxx Hxxx destroyed his crankcase, making it worthless, when he over tightened the oil drain plug and stripped the threads out of it.  Therefore, Gxxx Hxxx needs to purchase and pay for the installation of a new crankcase.    This resolution seems reasonable to me, and here is, maybe, a more clear illustration of Gxxx Hxxx's accountability method of responsibility......    One finds him or herself driving down the highway when a noticeable piece of debris hits the front of the auto, striking and damaging the radiator.  Mr. Himself calls AB Radiator Shop to ask if they repair radiators.  They answer "Yes", so he brings the auto to them for repair.  Upon seeing the damage, the shop foreman advises Mr. Himself that the repair will be more difficult than originally discussed over the phone, due to the nature of the damage.  The foreman also spoke of similar repairs that the company had successfully performed before.  This pleased Mr. Himself VERY much, otherwise, he would be faced with the burden of having to buy a new radiator and paying for its installation.  After finishing, what seemed to be, by all accounts, the repair of the radiator, the foreman filled the unit with coolant and unfortunately it still leaked.  He went to Mr. Himself and explained that he would have to replace the radiator.  Mr. Himself paid the charges due that the foreman had felt fair, considering the time and effort the shop had put forth in the attempt to salvage the already worthless radiator.  Upon being back to square one, Mr. Himself then went to XY Radiator and requested an estimate for a new radiator along with the price of installing it.  Upon doing so, he then attempted to rally support for his cause of "finding fault with AB Radiator", rather than accepting that he would be financially responsible for his own damaged radiator...    Wow, the idea that AB Radiator would have to pay another shop for parts and labor of replacement, while the whole time, was attempting to save Mr. Himself from such a burden!    Gxxx Hxxx destroyed his crankcase, making it worthless, when he over tightened the oil drain plug and stripped the threads out of it.  Therefore, Gxxx Hxxx needs to purchase and pay for the installation of a new crankcase. This resolution seems reasonable to me.Per you request,  [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:The person that has replied to this complaint has done nothing but lie about everything that they did and the whole problem that they created. First I told the service manager that the plug had stripped out and that I wanted a hell-coil installed so that the plug would seal the drain hole like it was supposed to do. After a few days he called me up and said that he could not install a hell-coil and that he would have to install a coupling in it's place. That should of sounded a bell that they had either messed up the existing opening to a point that it was beyond repair but I listen to him saying that he had to charge me more money ti install a coupling in the crankcase. I did not look at the mess up at that time because I was going back and forth to MD Anderson for chemo treatments. When I received another call from the service manager he said that there was a problem and it would cost more to repair at that time I told him to get my 4 wheeler back together and I would pick it up. When I picked it up he said that it was leaking in a seam and he could repair that but after all his lies I told hem no. I WAS NEVER TOLD ANYTIME ANYTHING ABOUT HAVING TO HAVE THE CRANKCASE REPLACED BECAUSE THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT HE COULD INSTALL THE HELI-COIL AND THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEM. ANYONE THAT HAS WORKED AROUND ANY TYPE OF METAL KNOWS THAT YOU WILL NOT CAUSE METAL TO WARP OR GET OUT OF SHAPE BY TIGHTENING A BOLT ESPECIALLY WHEN THER IS BOLTS HOLDING TWO HALVES OF METAL ABOUT 2 AND 1/4" APAIR. This person that is responding does not need to be running a repair service for the public because he does not know how to admit that him or his people mess up in a big way and that he should be responsible for the damages. The service manager which did not have enough respect to even give his name at the end of his response because he knows that everything that he said was a LIE because he never said a word about the crankcase until I told him that they had messed up my 4 wheeler when I went back and told him that I had it looked at and was told by a welder that welds on alum. for a living that they had gotten the metal too hot and that I had talked to a respectable Honda dealer that also told me the same thing. Bill's owes me for the repairs to my 4 wheeler that they caused and tried to cover up with LIES. This man needs to think before he says much more and have my 4 heeler repaired by somebody that knows what they are doing..........
Sincerely,
[redacted]
