Honda Accord on 5/15/2017 at 1:30 A.M. as a stolen recovery per the request of the Tacoma Police Department because they could not reach the registered owner at the time. At the time of impound our drivers are to do a visual inspection of the vehicle to make sure that the vehicle has all 4 wheels and tires and that it does not have extensive damage done to the body of the vehicle that would heed those tires from rolling freely. We do not do a mechanical inspection on any vehicle. At the time of impoundment our driver tried to start the car to retrieve it out of the space it was in but the vehicle did not start. Hence the reason he assumed that the vehicle just needed a battery jump. So when Ms. [redacted] questioned if the vehicle was driveable, she was told that the vehicle did appear to be driveable and that it may need a battery jump. She did not ask to view the vehicle first. She paid the bill and was taken down to our over flow yard to redeem the vehicle. Upon arriving and doing her own inspection of vehicle she found that the vehicle was inoperable. She became irate and started claiming that we had stolen the parts off of her car and that she wanted a refund. Ms. [redacted] contacted our office 05/16/2017 and spoke with our office manager Aimee. Aimee tried to explain to her our procedures and her options but Ms. [redacted] did not want to hear it. She just kept threatening Aimee that she was going to contact the Revdex.com, Attorney General and that she was filing a police report with the Tacoma Police Department that we had stolen the parts off of her car. Ms. [redacted]’s mother called and spoke with Aimee on 05/17/2017 again threatening false claim’s if the money was not reimbursed. Aimee again tried to explain to her their options of removing the vehicle off our property (having it towed away), signing over the title or if they left the vehicle here how the registered owner would be responsible for accruing charges under RCW 46.55.105. She again threatened that if we did not do what they wanted and reimburse them the money that they would report our company to every department that they could and would have us “kicked off Tacoma Police Department rotation”.
