Billy Burks, Jr Roofing Company Reviews (3)

November 8, 2016# [redacted] Dear Ms [redacted] ,I am writing in response to a complaint that was filed against my company.I installed this roof on January 18, 2016.In January, the homeowner was given two estimates by me, at her request. One estimate was to tear off the existing shingles, and install new shingles. The second estimate was to leave the existing shingles, and re-roof over them with new shinglesDue to cost, I am sure, she chose the re-roof optionWe DID inform her that the new shingles would not lay as smoothly if she chose the re-roof option, for obvious reasonsShe agreed to the re-roof option, with a signed contractWe also showed her shingle sample colors of the shingle we would be installing and she agreed to the color that we installed.Everything was fine, no problems, as far as I knew, the homeowner was pleased with my work.At the end of March 2016, our area was hit with a massive hail stormThis storm did several billion dollars in damage to our city and surrounding areas. This storm also hit the homeowner’s homeShortly thereafter, her son contacted me on Facebook. He proceeded to inform me that his Mother’s home sustained hail damage on the flat area of the roof on the shed in the back yard.He then proceeded to tell me that I should have used shingles on this area, and not a flat roofing product.I wanted to make note to you that shingles cannot be installed on a flat roof, so therefore I installed a flat roofing product on the top flat area of the shed onlyShingles were used everywhere else.He told me that me that I needed to come over, and remove the flat area of the roof, and install shingles in that area.He also told me that they had contacted her insurance company, and the only area damaged by hail was this particular flat areaHe said that his Mother did NOT have the $1,to pay her insurance deductible.(The rest of her roof has significant pitch to the roof, and therefore did not sustain any hail damage.)They wanted the hail damaged area fixed without wanting to pay their deductibleWhen I refused, this is when the campaign to “get a roof for free” started.I did not feel that I was responsible for repairing a roof damaged by hail for free. This is the reason this has gone on for the length of time that it has. After I refused to install a new roof on the hail damaged area at no cost, they brought in another roofer, who out of spite, encouraged them to smear me, in anticipation of recovering the money, he would get the job to install a new roof.We have reached out to her on several occasions, but were unsuccessful in resolving this matter. We have been in business for nearly years, with thousands of happy and satisfied customersWe strive to build genuine relationships with each of our customers and always go above and beyond to make sure they are completely satisfiedWe have never been asked for a roof refund before this matterEver!Unfortunately, we live in an “entitled” societyPeople try to scam “free” product everywhereI see it daily at restaurants, with consumer goods, ectAt what point is the contractor protected from the homeowner? All contractors are NOT “out to take advantage” of homeownersAt least that is not the case with me.On October 31, 2016, I received a registered letter from the homeowner’s daughter asking for a full refund of the roof, or to complete the repairs to their satisfaction. She sent me a copy of the letter that she sent to you at the Revdex.com, and it was altered from the copy she sent to me(I have a copy of it, if you need to see it.)On November 1, 2016, we sent the homeowner a check for a FULL REFUND of the cost of her roof via registered mail, along with a letter stating that stated if the check was cashed or deposited by her, she was agreeing that this matter would be settled in full to her satisfactionWe also apologized for not being able to satisfy her in this matterOn the November 1, 2016, she signed for the registered letter containing the refund, and on November 2, at 9:am, the check was deposited and cleared(I also have copies of the endorsed check.)By giving this refund, I am in no way admitting guilt or fault in the way the roof was installedI just feel like it was the Christian thing to doAbove all, I do not want to have a mark against me and as of today, have made every effort to satisfy her complaint.I have been kind, and shown courtesy in regards to this matter. Please feel free to let me know if you need anything else from me.Regards, [redacted] ***, ***

November 8, 2016#[redacted]Dear Ms. [redacted],I am writing in response to a complaint that was filed against my company.I installed this roof on January 18, 2016.In January, the homeowner was given two estimates by me, at her request. One estimate was to tear off the existing shingles, and install new...

shingles. The second estimate was to leave the existing shingles, and re-roof over them with new shingles. Due to cost, I am sure, she chose the re-roof option. We DID inform her that the new shingles would not lay as smoothly if she chose the re-roof option, for obvious reasons. She agreed to the re-roof option, with a signed contract. We also showed her shingle sample colors of the shingle we would be installing and she agreed to the color that we installed.Everything was fine, no problems, as far as I knew, the homeowner was pleased with my work.At the end of March 2016, our area was hit with a massive hail storm. This storm did several billion dollars in damage to our city and surrounding areas. This storm also hit the homeowner’s home. Shortly thereafter, her son contacted me on Facebook. He proceeded to inform me that his Mother’s home sustained hail damage on the flat area of the roof on the shed in the back yard.He then proceeded to tell me that I should have used shingles on this area, and not a flat roofing product.I wanted to make note to you that shingles cannot be installed on a flat roof, so therefore I installed a flat roofing product on the top flat area of the shed only. Shingles were used everywhere else.He told me that me that I needed to come over, and remove the flat area of the roof, and install shingles in that area.He also told me that they had contacted her insurance company, and the only area damaged by hail was this particular flat area. He said that his Mother did NOT have the $1,000 to pay her insurance deductible.(The rest of her roof has significant pitch to the roof, and therefore did not sustain any hail damage.)They wanted the hail damaged area fixed without wanting to pay their deductible. When I refused, this is when the campaign to “get a roof for free” started.I did not feel that I was responsible for repairing a roof damaged by hail for free. We have been in business for nearly 14 years, with thousands of happy and satisfied customers. We strive to build genuine relationships with each of our customers and always go above and beyond to make sure they are completely satisfied. We have never been asked for a roof refund before this matter. Ever!Unfortunately, we live in an “entitled” society. People try to scam “free” product everywhere. I see it daily at restaurants, with consumer goods, ect. At what point is the contractor protected from the homeowner? All contractors are NOT “out to take advantage” of homeowners. At least that is not the case with me.On October 31, 2016, I received a registered letter from the homeowner’s daughter asking for a full refund of the roof, or to complete the repairs to their satisfaction. She sent me a copy of the letter that she sent to you at the Revdex.com, and it was altered from the copy she sent to me. (I have a copy of it, if you need to see it.)On November 1, 2016, we sent the homeowner a check for a FULL REFUND of the cost of her roof via registered mail, along with a letter stating that stated if the check was cashed or deposited by her, she was agreeing that this matter would be settled in full to her satisfaction. We also apologized for not being able to satisfy her in this matter. On the November 1, 2016, she signed for the registered letter containing the refund, and on November 2, 2016 at 9:00 am, the check was deposited and cleared. (I also have copies of the endorsed check.)By giving this refund, I am in no way admitting guilt or fault in the way the roof was installed. I just feel like it was the Christian thing to do. Above all, I do not want to have a mark against me and as of today, have made every effort to satisfy her complaint.I have been kind, and shown courtesy in regards to this matter. Please feel free to let me know if you need anything else from me.Regards,[redacted], [redacted]
