BioLife Plasma Services Reviews (21)

Memphis TN location

Overall decent at getting you through the line if you go during slow times, otherwise very inefficient. They also turn you away for ridiculous reasons sometimes.

I was turned away recently because the lab hadn’t tested my blood sample yet, not because something was wrong, but because they just hadn’t gotten around to doing it yet. I’m guessing there’s something in the system that requires them to enter a normal blood sample result every so often for a donor to be eligible, but I donate twice a week every week, so they’ve had plenty of chances to get what they need. They even took a sample 2 visits in a row and when I asked why I was told that they had lost my first sample somehow. This is clearly Biolife’s fault, but I’m getting punished for it. I wasn’t even offered any sort of compensation for their mistake, I was just told that hopefully the results would be in next week, which is an extremely pitiful response to the situation

Worst Organizational Skills ever
Over an hour wait to get to a nurse! Their process is the most unorganized system I’ve ever seen! Someone needs to hire decent manages and project managers to fix their unacceptable process to donate plasma! The multiple stations— ugh— who thinks this system is efficient? NOT ME!

There are two issues here: whether the consumer met BioLife's requirement as a plasma donor, and her desire for her "medical records." On or about 07/16/2015, BioLife received a note from the donor's healthcare provider that disclosed medical information that contradicted information she had previously providedThe donor's own statement to the Revdex.com on 10/14/was clear that: "It came down to the fact that I hadn't read the list before each donation..." Because the plasma is manufactured into life-saving products used for critically ill patients, we rely on our donors to be forthcoming and truthful about their medical history, as it is essential to the screening process, and ultimately the safety of the plasmaThe screening process ensures the donor understands and accurately responds to questions regarding high-risk behaviors, as well as documenting any medications or medical conditions that could pose a medical contraindication to the plasmapheresis procedureThe donor's own statement indicates she was not an accurate historianMoreover, subsequent information from her health care provider revealed additional medical history that she had not disclosed that would require her deferral Lastly, with respect to the donor's request for her medical records, BioLife does not provide healthcare, and we have manufacturing records and not medical recordsBioLife's records are business documents, and will be produced upon receipt of a valid subpoena Sincerely, Janelle [redacted] , SrCenter Manager [redacted] Janelle[redacted] @baxalta.com Initial Consumer Rebuttal / [redacted] (2000, 10, 2015/11/06) */

his identity taken from information that was in our system We have changed the information in our system so he will not be contacted further We wish him the best but will not contact him further since those are his requests.Thank you,*** ***SrCenter ManagerBioLife Plasma Services L.P.Shire*** *** *** ***Austin Texas*** *** *** ***

Dear *** ***,Thank you for reaching out to us and letting us know that we had a former donor who felt he had not been given enough information regarding his current status with our centerAlso for your records please update that *** *** is no longer the Center Manager of the
Cheyenne, WY facilityEffective 02/17/I have become the manager of this facilityI apologize for the delayed response but due to the confidentiality of this matter and HIPAA law considerations I did have to validate with our corporate office the ability to respond to your letter even with the signed releaseAlso due to the time frame since this situation we had to take time to access records from our archivesThank you and Mr*** for your patience. This email is in response to *** *** inquiry on why he is no longer allowed to donate with our Cheyenne, WY BioLife and because of the nature of the deferral he cannot donate at any BioLife in the futureTo begin our response I would like to take a moment to describe what we do at BioLife to help Mr*** and the Revdex.com understand the difficult decisions we are required to make at timesBioLife collects plasma donations similar to donating bloodThese donations are further manufactured into lifesaving medications for burn victims, trauma patients, immune deficiencies, hemophilia, clotting disorder patients and many other life threating conditionsConsidering this, it is our responsibility to make sure we are collecting safe, defect free plasma for our end patientsIt is also our responsibility to make sure the process is safe for our donors and at times if we feel either of these may be compromised, even against the wishes of the donor, we may be forced to not allow them to donate for either their safety or the plasma safety We recognize that this information may be difficult for Mr***, we thank him for his past support of our process and centerIt is only through selfless community members such as himself that we are able to collect lifesaving plasma donations. Moving specifically to why Mr*** was deferred the following information is what we have on recordIn May of during his recent donations at the Cheyenne, WY facility staff and Registered Medical Nurses began to show concern as Mr*** was beginning to show abbehaviorThis behavior included arguing with himself and angry verbal out bursts during the actual plasma collection processWith this behavior being a concern for Mr*** mental health and his safety while donating the Registered Nursing Team came to the Center Medical Director, a Medical Doctor, and the then Center Manager at the timeOn review of the behavior and the increasing frequency the decision was made by the Center Medical Director and Center Manager to permanently defer Mr*** based on the abbehavior and angry outbursts while donatingThis type of behavior raises the concern for the safety of individuals in the building and Mr*** safety during the processThe permanent deferral is not reversibleAgain I would like to extend appreciation towards Mr*** for his previous support and understandingI would also like to apologize if this information was not communicated clearly enough in the past to himThank you Sincerely , Lucas Y***Center ManagerBioLife Plasma Services | Baxalta IncBluegrass CircleCheyenne, WY, USA+phone+faxlucas.***@baxalta.comwww.biolifeplasma.com

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me however the donation center needs to understand that the entire coupon was given to the front desk clerk she missed the fact that there were coupon codes on one sheetIt WAS NOT any falt of the prior donor(Heather) or the new donor that was brought inThe coupon was honored ONLY because heather still had the email and proof that it was not at the donors falt, but was the employee who missed the coupon code.? Yes, after the new donor completed another donations I received the buddy bonusAt the least BioLife needs to take responsibility for their employees neglagance.? Thank you you for your time and looking into this matter.?

The donor's own statement to the Revdex.com on 10/14/2015 was clear that: "It came down to the fact that I hadn't read the list before each donation..." Lastly, with respect to the donor's request for her medical records, BioLife does not provide healthcare, and we have manufacturing records and not medical records. BioLife's records are business documents, and will be produced upon receipt of a valid subpoena.

Dear Revdex.com Representative:             BioLife Plasma Services is in receipt of Complaint number [redacted].  We appreciate the opportunity to respond to his complaint.  ...

BioLife collects plasma (the straw colored portion of blood) from human donors in collection facilities located throughout the United States. The plasma is used to manufacture various life-saving and life-enhancing therapeutic proteins such as immune globulin and  albumin. BioLife relies on its donors to provide the plasma necessary to manufacture these life-saving and life-enhancing therapies and is very appreciative of donors who choose to take part in this important work.               BioLife compensates its donors for the time they spend donating plasma. At times, BioLife runs a promotion to encourage new donors or repeat donors. As the donor who lodged this complaint noted, one such promotion offers additional $30 compensation if a donor donates three times within a 30 day time period. Unfortunately, as the donor notes, he did not donate three times within a 30 day period; that is, he donated on June 21, June 28 and then July 27. Hence, the donor did not meet the terms of the coupon.                With that said, BioLife does value its donors and strives to provide excellent customer service. We regret that this donor’s experience was not positive in this instance. We are prepared to offer the donor the additional $30 compensation. If this is acceptable to the donor, please let me know and we will process the additional payment on the donor’s existing debit card.               Again, we appreciate the opportunity to respond to and attempt to resolve this complaint. If you need any additional information or have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.   Thank you, Alison V[redacted] Sr. Counsel, Litigation and Employment
