I was prescribed to use the bone healing system from my Dr. and the person who I was to be in contact with at Bioventus failed o call me for 2 weeks, then called and said he could come to my home and he would call me on Monday, this was a Friday. Monday came and no call so I waited a few more days then finally called my Dr again to ask about it. The representative finally called me and said he could meet me. Meet me? I thought he was coming to my house, I am the one with a broken ankle and in a boot going on almost 6 months at this point. So yes we finally met in a parking lot of some business and I was shown the device out of his trunk, Real Professional! Then he had me sign some paperwork and told me the device was like $4500 dollars or somewhere in the range and my part was about $500, $500 dollars out of pocket, WHAT, and then he said I could use it afterwards on different parts of my body if I wanted and I asked if it would help arthritis in my hands. At this point what am I suppose to do, so I took the machine, The treatments actually hurt and I had swollen ankles after every use. and after 29 days the machine said treatment done, and would not work after that. So now I have this machine that does not work, and after thinking about what the rep said, why would I want bone growth on my hand for my arthritis when I already have nodules on my hands, Do I want to make them grow bigger? I think NOT. Then I get a bill from Bioventus for $574.00, again I say What, I was told it would be $500, which is still ridiculous! So then I called the support line and was told to put it away in a closet because it's mine, OK great now again what am I suppose to do with his $574 machine? hope I break something else, Sorry Wrong answer Support!

SCAM - Stay away! Google "Major trial casts doubt on leading device to heal bone fractures" On a whim I decided to see if Bioventus was still up to their old scam. ~10 years later, I see they are still lying and cheating people, medicare and insurance companies. I wished these review sites were around back when this happened to us.

Our story: My wife had surgery on her foot and her podiatrist at the time prescribed their "miracle" bone stimulator. The Bioventus sales rep said the device was approved by our insurance, insurance was paying for everything, and we wouldn't have to pay a penny. We were skeptical and asked to speak to the sales lady's supervisor and they too confirmed the same thing. Alright, we thought, we did our due diligence.

We took possession of the device, my wife used it once (less than 3 mins if I recall) and it caused her too much pain. We called the rep to see about returning the device, who said it was no problem just call customer service. Customer service said, no sorry - you've used the device so there are no returns. No big deal we thought, insurance paid for it all.

A few weeks or so go by and a $1,200 bill showed up from Bioventus. Insurance had denied the device. We called the rep who said no problem, she would take care of it. We heard nothing back from her after several days so we called customer service, told them what two of the sales reps promised us. Customer service told us sorry, we'd have to talk to the rep about that and again you can't return it - it's used. All repeated calls to the rep were ignored -- no callbacks or nothing. She lied and got her sales commission so she didn't care. We spoke to the insurance company and they filed the claim after we took possession - there were no pre-approvals, nothing. That confirmed that not one, but two people from Bioventus lied to us. We sent the device back to Bioventus thinking that may end things. It didn't - the bills kept coming and they sent it to collections. There was no way I was going to pay for this scam. Reading through these reviews, it is obvious this is a pattern of fraud the company knows about and is fully complicit in. But I'm sure it will just be blamed on a "few bad apples". Hopefully one day, I'll see them on American Greed.

This is the biggest ripped off ever. I was guarantee this bone stimulator would repair my broken bone. They charged my insurance 5000, and u can buy these on line, for way less. My part was a 900. With the guarantee my foot would healed. After 120 days using bone still broken, Now I am fighting to get my money back,,,, so much for these butts getting my money back. Two months later I am still waiting, so run run this company is a ripped off.

My surgeon prescribed a Bioventus Exogen bone stimulator for a bone fracture. She said the company would contact me if it was covered by my insurance. A few days later I received a call from a representative at Bioventus. She said she was ready to ship my medical device. I asked her if my insurance had approved the device for me. She said yes she had received approval for device to be covered. I asked what is my co-pay? She said $250. I asked again for her to confirm that my insurance is covering the device and I only have to pay $250 co-pay. She confirmed my insurance approved with a $250 co-pay. I told her I knew the device was expensive and I did not want to get it if I had to pay more than $250. She told me not to worry. Imagine my surprise when several weeks later I get a letter from my insurance denying coverage for the bone stimulator because it is considered investigational. I have been playing phone tag with Bioventus since then. I am going to return the device. This company is straight up lying to people. It's a bait and switch. I haven't received a bill yet but I will only pay $250 which is the cost I was assured before I approved them shipping to me.

Bioventus LLC was selected by my Kaiser doctor to provide a bone stimulator ultrasonic device. The rep waited several weeks until I was approved (medicare) before delivery. I have 100% compliance on it's use but it made NO difference in my broken bone healing. The device looks nice but other than the timer counting down you can't tell if it is actually doing something but in any event if it isn't successful speeding up bone healing it is a useless device. Now I get a bill for $337 for "my part". They got pre-approval and told me it was covered, never told me I would get a bill. After reading the reviews seems to be a common problem.

Continue to be billed a copay for what was supposed to be written off. My mother whom I handle all Medical items for, [redacted] got a Bone Density machine in May 2016 that was ordered by her Doctor. Insurance paid almost the whole amount and the balance of 555.64 was approved to be written off after I filled out her current expenses that showed she could not afford the co pay. They approved it for a write off. The sales rep [redacted] confirmed it with me via phone. We had decided that if not approved, we would return the machine as she cannot pay the 555.64. We continue to get a bill for the 555.64 which is causing undue stress for my elderly mother who is not able to handle stress as it makes her blood pressure rise. They are sending bill after bill. I have called the sales REP [redacted], twice and he states that billing must not have the updates form which approved her for the co pay to be written off. [redacted] date of birth is [redacted] and the account number is [redacted] and service date us 5/2/2016. My mother cannot afford to pay this and was approved to have it written off after filling out a lengthy form listing all debts she currently owes and how much she pays in rent, etc. They will not stop sending bills. Desired SettlementThe original write off of 555.64 should be applied and the form that we filled out should be on file. [redacted] will continue to contact them but it seems no one is updating the account to show this as NOT OWED. I want the bill adjusted as it should have been to begin with when we got approved and all contact to stop or I will take legal action against the company on behalf of my mother. Business Response Thank you for your complaint. I have reviewed the file and concluded that the billing was in error. You will not receive future invoices and the balance is $0.00.Thank you, Compliance OfficerConsumer Response Thank you very much. I received a call from our Sales Rep Yesterday, [redacted] who also confirmed the issue was resolved and we should not get any more bills.

After repeated communications with the local sales rep & billing office, the medical device has not been returned as promised & we've gotten 3 bills- Around the 1st of February, [redacted], the local sales rep for Bioventus, left a message on our home phone while we were out of the country. Her message indicated that she wanted to discuss with us the out-of-pocket expense that we could expect if we chose to order a bone stimulator.- When we returned home on the 6th I had contracted a severe case of the flu and I did not immediately return her call.- The bone stimulator was delivered without our approval the week of February 8th.- My wife, [redacted], called [redacted] to find out how much it would cost. When we learned how much we would pay after insurance coverage, she notified her the next day that I wanted to return it. - On February 29th, [redacted] asked [redacted] to make arrangements for her assistant to pick it up (unopened) from my office. Her assistant didn't pick it up as agreed on 3/3. [redacted] had to contact [redacted] again and the assistant picked it up on 3/4.- On 3/16 we responded to the first of 3 bills that we have received. [redacted] notified the [redacted] office (the contact listed on the invoice) that the item had been picked up by [redacted]'s assistant. [redacted] told her that there was no record of it having been returned and that she would call customer service. She said that she would call to confirm it had been returned; she never called.- I notified [redacted] no payment should be made and they indicated that they would take action for reimbursement.- On 4/18 we received another bill. [redacted] called the [redacted] office to again inform them that the item had been returned. She then called [redacted], who assured her that she would return it to the office that day.- On 5/16 we received our 3rd bill. Apparently the item still has not been returned. It is evident that speaking with the [redacted] office and the local sales rep is not an effective means of communication. This bill is now 90 days overdue and we are very concerned that our credit rating will be affected.Desired SettlementI would like to receive written confirmation from Bioventus that the amount owed on this account (#[redacted] and invoice #[redacted]) is zero and that [redacted] has been reimbursed for any payments they have made for this itemResponse from consumer:The company has resolved the issue to ours and our insurance company's satisfaction.

I was wrongly told by a sales rep from Bioventus, LLC that a prescribed medical device was completely covered by my insurance and was charged $1266.64My podiatrist prescribed a bone stimulator through the Bioventus company for a bone fracture in my foot in April, 2015. I was contacted many times by [redacted], Bioventus Associate Sales Representative, through what felt like a high pressure sales tactics. [redacted] told me that the entire cost of the device was covered by my insurance. I specifically asked [redacted] if there was a deductible or co-pay. He said that the entire cost would be covered by my insurance. I then received a bill for $1266.64 to be paid to Bioventus out of pocket for what my insurance would not cover. Over the last ten months, I and my husband have spoken now with four different representatives for Bioventus to get this issue resolved, [redacted], two other reps whose names I cannot remember, and Finance Director [redacted]. They have had me fill out two patient financial assistance forms on which I had to put my income and expenses, even though the problem was the fault of [redacted] who misled me about my insurance coverage. I have not received any feedback about these assistance applications. I was told that my case was being escalated three months ago and have heard nothing regarding my case. I have continued to receive bills with no communication regarding my case. We were told by one rep that Bioventus is only legally required to tell a patient that the cost of Bioventus Exogen medical devices are covered but that they are not legally required to tell the patient how much is covered. I was told by [redacted] that my device was entirely covered by my insurance. They are intentionally misleading patients to believe that the entire cost will be covered even when it is not. I would never have purchased this device if I knew I would have to pay over $1200 for it. Finance director [redacted] told my husband today that my case will be presented to the Bioventus reimbursement team. I have been trying to get this resolved for almost a year but Bioventus has not communicated anything about the status of my case even after I have contact four representatives and filled out two patient assistance forms. After seeing several other patient complaints of the same nature on Revdex.com about Bioventus, I believe that this company is scamming patients by telling them that all charges will be covered by insurance even though they are not. A rep told my husband today that he gets calls about this same situation all the time. Even if Bioventus has to take charges off a few patients' bills, there are probably so many others who end up paying because of the massive amount of work it is to communicate about this scam.Desired SettlementThere are several other complaints about Bioventus on Revdex.com that describe the same unethical and midleading conduct and have had the charges removed from their bill. I do not think I should have to pay the remaining balance from the bone stimulator after sales rep, [redacted] told me that my health insurance covered the entire cost of the device. I am asking that the remaining balance of $1266.64 be removed from my account.Business Response Bioventus wrote off this balance for the patient. The patient has no further responsibility. Thank you, [redacted], Compliance Officer

false info give by sales rep when machine was delivered and told me my insurance would cover it and no additional charges would be owed. The Bioventus sales reap delivered Exogen Osteogensis Stimulator in August 2015 and I told them I did not want it if my insurance didn't cover the machine. They said no problem, they had checked with with insurance and I was covered and no additional charges. After 6 months I receive a bill from them now for an additional $553.00 they say I own them. My insurance paid them $2185.00 and I have told them I was told it was fully covered and requested they write off the balance. I have not received an answer and keep receiving bills for what I consider to be false advertising and deceptive business practices.Desired Settlementwrite off the balance they are billing me for of $553.00 after insurance paid them $2185.00Business Response Bioventus will credit Mr. [redacted]'s account for his co-insurance in the amount of $553.00. Represenatives of Bioventus on multiple occasions lied about how much I would be required to pay for their [redacted].I sustained a left humeral neck fracture in September of 2013 and was under the supervision of an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. [redacted] who recommended a non-surgical treatment of sling and exercise including occupational therapy. In January of 2014, an x-ray showed delayed or non-union, the occupational therapy was stopped, and I was referred to a second orthopedic surgeon, Dr. [redacted] He did more x-rays, blood tests, and recommended an ultrasound bone stimular.A Bioventus "Territory Account Manager" [redacted] visited me at home and demonstrated the use of the [redacted]. She also discussed the price but assured me that my insurance would cover the costs and that I should begin using the machine immediately, making it non-returnable. [redacted] eventually did pay less than half (probably closer to it's more appropriate value). I attempted to call [redacted] about the balance but she did not return my calls.I recieved no further billing from Bioventis until July of 2014 when I was billed $375. I called their billing office and was told that once I paid this, my portion would be paid up and I paid the $375.Now, one and one half years later, I get another bill from Bioventus for $581.16 but suggesting that I actually owe $692.99. On [redacted] this company, I see that this may well be standard business practice for this company./////Desired SettlementAt a minimum I would like to have the company stand by what I was told that my payment of $375 would be payment in full./////Business Response Dear Mr. [redacted],I apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused you. I have confirmed with our billing department that we sent you a bill in err. After you called into our receivables department, we removed the billing err and your account has a balance of zero. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further issues. Thank you,[redacted], Compliance Officer

We returned the merchandise in September 2014 and they keep billing usMy husband had received a Stimulator from this firm that was to be used on his broken foot. The sales woman never contacted us to demonstrate how to use the device. We called the office and received a [redacted] label from the Company to return the device. The device was picked up from our home on Friday, September 19, 2014 and returned their Cordova, TN address on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. I have proof of signature and delivery. We received a bill dated 11/20/2014. I called the billing department on 12/14/2014 and spoke with [redacted] she was going to cancel the invoice. Again, we received a bill dated 6/22/2015, again we called and spoke to [redacted] again she said she would cancel the billing. We received yet a 3rd bill dated 7/24/2015 and when we called the gentleman (who thought he was funny) could find no record of my conversations with [redacted], he had me on hold for over 15 minutes. I am so done with this. I might also add, that they have been told they have to reimburse the $1,088.14 paid to them by [redacted] on 7/14/2014. [redacted] has also spoken with them in regards to this. I consider this insurance fraud and poor customer service. I do not need a bad report on my credit. When this was mentioned to [redacted], her response was "we don't report to credit bureaus". I would like this taken care of IMMEDIATELY!Desired SettlementI would like confirmation that they have cancelled my billing...and a copy of the reimbursement check that is to be sent to cover the Insurance portion. This is a horrible way to do business.Business Response Please provide us with the return information. Thank you.Consumer Response I have already provided them the return information but here it is again. A [redacted] return label and package was sent by them to me on 9/12/2014 at 1:08 PM [redacted] Tracking #[redacted] delivered on 9/16/2014 at 2:24 PMThe item was returned to them by me - picked up by [redacted] on 9/19/2014 at 1:19 PM delivered to them on 9/24/2014 at 11:17 AM signed by [redacted]Tracking # [redacted]I provided this information to them twice and was informed by [redacted] twice that the billing would be cancelled and a refund check in the amount of $1,088.14 was to be sent to the Insurance Company. Neither of which has happened. United Health Care also contacted them on 7/28/2015 and spoke with [redacted] and was told it was being processed. I would like confirmation that the billing has been cancelled and a copy of the refund check in the amount of $1,088.14 that is being sent to the Insurance Company.Final Business Response In order to proceed, we needed to verify the return of the device. Thank you for providing the tracking of the returned package; it has been verified. A request to discontinue billing you and to provide a refund to your insurance company as been issued. The refund could take about a month.

The sales executive led me to believe that this product would be covered by my insurance policyI have been charged for a bone stimulator machine and have been receiving invoices from 03/13/14, even though I sent the machine back to the company. I was never informed that this was not covered by insurance. I was led to believe that I would just be using the machine for a short time and then would be sending it back to the company. Desired SettlementDrop the charges on the invoiceBusiness Response Our findings show:Insurance did cover the unit however the patient had a high deductible. Documented patient claim to be escalated regarding any misunderstandings and communication with the sales rep. Unit was returned without an approved authorization to the company in July 2014. According to our return policy the unit was used and did not fall within our guidelines. We have written off the balance and patient's balance reflects a zero balance as of today. Consumer Response I am satisfied that the company has dropped the charges since I was not given the correct information.Final Consumer Response

A Bioventus employee confirmed they sent past due notices on accounts before ever billing due to a system issue. Now, I received a balance adjustment. In November 2014, I received a Past Due invoice for services that had never been previously billed from June 20 as confirmed by a Bioventus employee. Once I received the bill, I began making payments. Now, in July 2015, I received a balance correction notice requiring me to pay an Additional $47.63. I made the payment but at best it is a poor business practice and would like to warn others not to use this company due to very poor customer service and improper billing.Desired SettlementA prudent business practice would be to refund the additional amount.Business Response Patient has a zero balance as of the last check of $47.63 posted on 07/16.Patient started out with a 250.79 co-insurance balance, after insurance paid $2,257.12. Patient made 4 payments at $50.79 and on 07/16 paid remainder of balance of $47.63 which brought the account to zero.Account is paid in full.Consumer Response The company did not address the billing errors and I stated that it was paid in full. Their response is typical of my experience with them. I have contacted the doctor so they will consider a different provider for others. The doctor and his staff are top notch and will not want to be associated with such a poorly run equipment provifer.

We were approached by a Bioventus representative to purchase an exogen osteogenesis stimulator for our daughter to be coverered 100% Account number: [redacted], $4950 charge, with remainder $436.43November 2014- Bioventus rep, [redacted] approached us about using their Exogen Osteogenesis Stimulator for our daughter's shin splint condition. We were assured that the unit would be covered by our insurance and that there would be no out of pocket expenses incurred on our end. We agreed, were given the unit (which did nothing to alleviate our daughter's condition, however a few months later we received a bill for over $4950 with insurance denying any covereage. We have disputed the charges for a year with insurance and Bioventus and just received a letter in the mail from Bioventus billing indicating we owe $436.43. Again, we were told at the very beginning of this ordeal, that insurance would cover the cost of the unit and if not, Bioventus would pick up the remainder. Otherwise, we would not have agreed to pay such a high out out of pocket expense for an "experimental" device. Please waive the final amount of this bill per our original agreement, Bioventus. Thank you.Desired SettlementExpunging charges of $436.43 from account [redacted] immediatelyBusiness Response Consumer Response Complaint has been resolved by Bioventus. I paid for the product then found out [redacted] paid for it.(They were paid twice for same product). Requested a refund. My nephew ordered the Exogen product and asked me to pay for it, which I called them and paid for with my card over the phone. When my nephew received his monthly statement from [redacted] it showed that [redacted] had paid them for the product. My nephew called and asked for a refund since [redacted] paid for it. They said they would have to talk to me. I was given a confirmation Number for putting the money back on my card on Feb. 25th. Waited 2 weeks, no money was put in my account. Since then, I have called and left messages, talked to Customer Service, talked to a supervisor, talked to accounting and billing.....I finally get a check, but the wrong amount. Bioventus sent me a check for $381.59 but the amount should have been $466.52. I called, Bioventus agreed the amount was wrong and would send right amount. That was March and it is now May and still no refund. When on the phone with Bioventus, they recognize their mistakes and agree to correct them but I am yet to see them do this.Desired SettlementI would like my $466.52 to be refunded asap.Business Response Bioventus sent a check in the amount of $466.52 to the patient and the patient cashed the check on 6/14/16.
