Bird of Paradise Motel

Review: On or about March 4th we placed a reservation at this motel. The reservation confirmation had a total balance due of 795.32. We received a second confirmation on March 18th witht the same amount. We have not made any changes to the reservation since it was submitted. Over the past week our debit card was charged 795.32 and then refunded. Then a new charge of 942.82 was processed. On 5/2 we recieved another invoice changing the room total from 674 to 799. This accounts for the change in the amount prior to taxes. As stated early the reservation has not changed. They took it upon themselves to increase the price without properly notifying us they were changing the amount from the original confirmation. We feel it was unethical that they even changed the price from the original confirmation. I called the motel today. The male who answered put me on hold for 10 minutes before even assisting me. At which time he refused to help resolve the issue. He said they would call back by 830 pm it is now 1030 pm.Desired Settlement: We would like to see our reservation returned to the original confirmation amount. We also would like a letter of apology stating the reservation dates and itemized charges matching the original confirmation.

Review: Beginning of March: online reservation placed including credit card number so that the motel could secure a $50 per person deposit as discussed on the phone but not noted on their website anywhere. However, I agreed to pay deposit of $200 oand included my credit card..

March 7th: Reservation confirmation received by email for May 23rd-May26th. Confirmation does not state pre-payment or deposit required. Deposit not noted on reservation. I sent an email on March 7th confimring reservation and inquiring about how to pay the deposit and reminded them that they had not yet charged my credit card.

March 21st: Email response from motel stating when they charge my credit card, they would update me.

May 13th: based on credit card billiing cycle, noticed deposit was not charged to my credit card. Emailed motel to ask about how they wanted to take payment and if they accepted pre-payment by credit card.

May 19th: received a phone message that I did not have a room because I did not give a deposit.

Not only does the reservation not state anywhere that a deposit is required (only that any balance on arrival has to be paid by cash), but I tried to pay by credit card.

When I spoke with "[redacted]" the manager, she state very rudely: "You should have followed up. Don't you think you should have called when you saw by April there was no charge?" When I explained the wording of the reservation confirmation and the email and that I had followed up appropriately, [redacted] stated "You wait until the busiest day of my year to bother me with this? You don't have a room. That's it. What do you want from me? An apology? Okay, I'm sorry you don't have a room. You need to leave my property now. There's nothing else I can do for you."

This was a confirmed reservation as evidenced by reservation confirmation. Bird of Paradise Motel failed to honor the conditions of the reservation and did not offer to find comparable accomodations when they could not fulfill the reservation.Desired Settlement: I had to find my own reservation at another motel which was very difficult as this was a holiday weekend (Memorial Day Weekend). I paid $80 more ($20 more per person), but since this was a cash transaction only, I do not have the receipt to prove the difference in price. So, at the very least I would like the poor practice of this motel noted for the record and I would like a formal written apology.
