this complaint is for [redacted]@birdhousemusic.com or www.birdhousemusic.com / [redacted] at X-XXX-XXX-XXXX/and I am [redacted].com/or XXX-XXX-XXXX/concerning the practice of shipping guitar amps to other states. ect. let it be known that I purchased a plush amp head for 700.00 which was very high priced but they assured me it was in very good condition, and that all was working with it. when it arrived to balto md.via fedex/ the contents was ratteling/upon opening the box there was very little packing in it & the power tubes fell out/the reverb tank was broken/ the main fuse was an improper one which was replaced with a slo-blow type/had to reattach (2) loose capacitors/repair loose wire for tube heater causing the pilot light to not be lit/ and (2) 6L6 power tubes to not be lit/I bought (2) new 6L6 POWER TUBES FOR 60.00 which were also broken(glass everywhere) had to replace noisey preamp tube/cleaned & tightened jacks/replace reverb can/installed dummy plug for vibrato. needless to say this amp was either broken when sold to me or all this was due to shipping. price to fix the amp was 261.20 so I now have over 1000.00 into it,just for the amp,no speaker cabinet. this co. said they ship all over the country @ [redacted]. here has been no reply from them when explained the problem,other than an e-mail saying to keep them informed,& maybe a asso. from my area would look at it & maybe replace the reverb tank which is not very expensive. I would not want anyone/anywhere to go through this. please be sure this message goes viral.Desired Settlementyes. they emailed me back to offer to find someone in my area to look at the amp & possibly replace the reverb tank that was bad & to keep them informed. I have gotten the amp repaired already & have not heard back from them.any refund would be great as I don't believe everything wrong with the amp was due to damage from shipping,as some things found wrong were shorted wires ect. I sent them an email telling them the cost of the repairs.I would love to know if anyone else has had this experience with birdhousemusic. from [redacted].comBusiness Response We have attempted on more than one occasion to resolve this issue with this customer, including phone calls and email. It seems there was shipping damage to the item we sent the customer. The customer said that they contacted Fedex which supposedly rejected a claim of damage. I asked if the buyer kept the packing materials and box to show to fedex and he said that he didn't. When he received the amp we told him via email that we would arrange to have it looked at by one of our affiliate repair centers and never received a response until it had already been repaired by the customer's repair person at a cost of $300. The customer admitted that they had the repair person upgrade many of the parts, choose expensive tubes, etc. We have been repairing amplifiers for the past 4 years and have never had a repair cost that much, especially for the supposed damage of this level. We have been and are still hopeful to reach a solution with this buyer. So far it has been nothing but assumptions that the buyer will somehow be done wrong in this sale and nothing but assurances from us that we are willing to work with the person.Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)the people from fedex are only available at the times that I work & I cant afford to take off of work to show them the damage.birdhose may have experience for 4 years in service but I have used [redacted] for repairs for 35 years. their service is honest & fair for the prices in Maryland.there were no upgrades to the amps.only repairs,& the tubes which were broken are no longer available,so we put in what was to be the cross reference to these parts.I now believe this amp needed more repairs than what it was sold to me as being very good cond.again I will state that anything birdhouse can do to compensate for my troubles would be accepted. this amp has been used in gigs as soon as I had repaired it.that was the whole reason for getting it up & running as soon as possible. I have 1,200.00 invested already, & there are others on [redacted] for half of that price. I feel I was treated dishonestly on this deal,as I never got a chance to test the amp,& was only going by their word on the condition/I wasn't born yesterday & have seen scams before.no one is hurting but me/the buyer at this point & time. [redacted] Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)this amp has been repaired already & has been in service on gigs.all I ask is that birdhouse give me something for all my troubles such as/if not money then maybe some pedal steel strings e-9 c-6 type or maybe some wind socks for mikes, color green ect. just something to make this right. but I must still say that no one should ever ship a tubed amp with out removing the tubes & wrap them well in bubble wrap.I cant belive any one would take a chance on shipping amps with the tubes still plugged in. Final Business Response We truly are sorry that the amp didn't arrive in the condition it left. I would like to make it right with the buyer. I could get you some pedal steel strings if you like or the accessories you ask for but I am also happy to give you a partial refund and have you shop for what you like. Can I [redacted] you $75 and we call this settled? I truly am sorry you have not had a good experience. I assure you this was not our intent. I hope you are enjoying your amplifier at this point.
