I am in receipt today of a check for $from Bishop
Kennels, satisfying my Revdex.com complaint against this breeder for issues involving a
puppy purchased from them, whom we named Skipper. In response to the kennel's statements
regarding my complaint, I again would point to the email correspondence between
myself and MrsBishop in order to clarify my perspective on this matter. While I did indeed note that Skipper was a
"cute, sweet, healthy" dog, it does not negate the fact that he is
completely unlike, in physical appearance, other "normal" dogs of his
breed Coton de Tulear. He has short
hair, dark spots, sheds hair at an incredible rate and is actually incredibly
stupid. That does not preclude him from
being "cute, sweet, healthy", but it does make him an unacceptable
specimen of his breed. While it was
never our intention to show or breed him, we did have certain expectations for
him that simply were not met. Some
monetary compensation was offered by the breeders in the email dated 11/1/13,
and it was only after several attempts to re-connect with them proved
unsuccessful that I resorted to a complaint through the Revdex.com. Also, it should be remembered that we are
dealing with a living creature that is owned and loved by another living being
(my daughter Abbie is "quite attached to him"), and NOT a box of cereal that can be simply returned or
exchanged at the local Wal-Mart!
I do sincerely thank you, the Revdex.com, for your assistance in resolving this matter. It also reflects well on Bishop Kennels that they offered compensation in this matter, without being forced to do so, and ultimately did honor their promise to that end.Sincerely

It’s a shame that some people have to find an issue to complain about after they have Brought a Coton puppy home with them. Puppies can be just like children born of same parents but looking different in certain ways. We all know that unless we birth identical twins , there is no guarantee that each of our children will have the same charactertics . So is it with puppies. Breeders can not guarantee the features of each puppy . I think we can assume that there are certain features that are displayed for a certain breed ! What I am sure of is that our puppy from Bishops Kennels is beautiful and healthy. He is highly sociable , intelligent , and doesn’t have any known health issues. Does he look exactly like my former Coton? Mainly , yes , but has some subtle differences. Are either one of them substandard fir a Coton? Not at all. I trust Brenda and Roy Bishop and their breeding program. If you want a cloned Coton you can get the info from Barbara Streisand and pay the enormous fee. Of course , her two clones are very different in appearance from her beloved Coton that has passed.

problem is the puppy does not look like what they wanted. Our guarantee states: “Bishop Kennels makes no Guarantee that this puppy is show quality or breeding stock as this cannot be determined at such a young age.” It also states:Bishop Kennel puppies are guaranteed against life threatening congenital defects i.e. we do not cover adverse reactions to vaccinations, open fontanels, parvo, parasites, luxating patellas, trachea problems, giardia, coccidia, descending testicles, hernias, hypoglycemia or allergic reactions as these can involve trauma or environmental issues.In the event that this puppy develops a serious genetic defect, as described above, within one year of the puppies date of birth, the breeder will require a written report from a licensed veterinarian with proof of the disorder.  The said puppy can be returned for a replacement puppy of comparable value as long as all of the terms of this contract have been followed by the buyer.  If a replacement is not available  at the time of return, buyer will be notified when a comparable puppy is available. No cash refunds will be given, only a replacement puppy.  Any and all veterinarian expenses incurred determining the problem/health status of the puppy will be the sole responsibility of the buyer.If a congenital defect is suspected in a puppy death, a necropsy, at the buyers expense will be required and a copy of this report MUST be sent to Bishop Kennels within 7 days to validate this health guarantee.  If a congenital defect is shown to be the cause of death, your puppy will be replaced with the next available puppy of the same value and may take up to 12 months to replace. Please note that the guarantee covers health issues and offers a replacement puppy not a cash reimbursement for any puppy with vet verified health issues only. On 10/29/2013 they stated that they were “already quite attached to Skipper” and that he is a “cute, sweet, healthy dog”and as such did not want to return him for a replacement which I had offered, despite the fact that our guarantee only covers the health of the dog. That being said – we really want our puppy’s owners to be happy with their experiences with our kennel.The puppy does show an appearance flaw that would eliminate him from showing.This flaw is simply shorter hair than the show standards allow.This flaw is very rare and does not affect the health or behavior of the puppy in any way. We are choosing to reimburse this customer $500 today 5/30/15 through paypal.We are doing so because we value our customers – NOT because we are assuming any financial obligation or duty as we sold a “cute, sweet, healthy dog” as the customer himself has stated. Thank you for the opportunity you allowed to state our side of this dispute.If there are any other questions feel free to contact me again. Deborah Bishop – Bishop Kennels

Review: We purchased a puppy from this breeder and that puppy turned out to have very different physical traits than are characteristic of the breed (Coton de Tulear). After being promised some "compensation" from the breeder, all subsequent emails have gone unanswered. I would request some financial compensation based on the large amount I paid for such a disappointing "pure-bred" dog!Desired Settlement: I would request substantial financial compensation, around $500.00 to $750.00.
