Bitdefender, LLC Reviews (19)

Although their product gets rave reviews, and it may be good, they are crooks when it comes to renewing their productsI've gotten a few reminders this past week of the impending date when my subscription will expireThe renew offer shows a 30% discount on a $product bringing the cost DOWN to $I knew I hadn't paid anything close to that initially so I browsed to their site and low and behold, the price for [redacted] Public is $Although some may consider this fair business, I feel it is quite dishonest and a clear ploy to take advantage of those that may not check their facts appropriatelyFor that reason alone, regardless of how good their product is, I will not be renewing or using products from Bitdefender, LLC ever again

Prompted by a reminder from Bitdefender that my renewal was coming due, I clicked on a link and renewed with my credit card$ The next day they billed me another $on the same card, without my knowledge or consent I only learn of the charge after reviewing my monthly credit card statement I contacted the company and brought the issue to their attention They informed me that although I had renewed 'manually', they processed an 'automatic renewal' the next day They insist that the two transactions - for the same licence key and time period - are somehow unrelated, and refuse to refund I was not aware of agreeing to any auto renewal Communication is only by email - there is never a name or phone number to contact I argue that I have been double (or triple) billed, and they reply that they can't issue a refund after days, but if I am not happy with the product, I can tell them the technical problems I am having and they will try to help me My credit card company contacted them on my behalf and was told a 'supervisor', who was busy on another call, would call me shortly to discuss resolving the complaintNo callLater that day I reached that supervisor who agreed to help resolve the problem, and promises to call me the next morning Instead I get another one of their emails about no refunds after days, and telling me I have TWO separate subscriptions that will give me two year's subscription (that's a new one!) At this point I reply that I have only one subscription, one licence key, and I think they are scamming, and that I am going to register complaints with Revdex.com and Florida Attorney General They reply that they are issuing a refund, it will take a week, and they hope I will reconsider and 'try their product again'At the time of writing this review, a week has not passed [redacted] so I can't say if they will actually issue a refund Looking at other reviews and complaints on Revdex.com, it is clear that this company is systematically engaging in credit card fraud And this is a company that is supposed to be PROTECTING you from scammers

The products of Bitdefender work as advertised However if you wish to end your subscription you cannot do so on their website The option to control whether or not you renew your subscription is likewise not on their own website I had to use a search engine to find the website 'avangate' and actually use the order number they put on my renewal to find the option to turn off auto-renewals I would recommend their software but not their customer service

I bought Bitdefender anti virus just over a year agoI bought a device license for $It worked OK, blocked some bad sites, and worked quietlyI had been a Avast customer prior but got tired of all the pop ups I knew the year was about up so I had planned to shop around comparing: Bitdefender, Webroot, and aviraAll are highly rated in the IT security communityI had about a week before expiration so no hurry(I have since bought license of Webroot amazon download $15.05, no hooks, works better than BD) Four days before the expiration date I found a strange charge on my PayPal for $to a unknown to me company "Avengate"How the heck did this company grab $from my PayPal? I immediately filed a fraud report to PayPalPayPal quickly responded that I had an auto-renew agreement in place with Avengate, What??? They turned off the "auto money snatch" hook but closed the ticket because I unknowingly had set the "hook" by buying Bitdefender a year earlierBitdefender and Avengate are in bed together with a ping pong game of placing the blame on the otherThey intentionally wear down the consumer until they just give upIt probably works +90% of the time(Wear them down or time out the warranty) It's now day in the Bitdefender refund hostage crisis, Avengate has responded a few times, saying they can snatch all the money they want out of my account, but can't refund anyOnly Bitdefender can refundBitdefender ignored different requests, finally responded after days of daily pestering, Their story is that "since I complained to PayPal I need to go through PayPal to try to get a charge-back"This is so funny because Bitdefender knows that PayPal sides with the money grabber auto snatch policy that was sneaked inPayPal close's the ticket which can't be opened again without pulling teeth(My last resort will be to go back to PayPal the product was voided, no sale) Most consumers will give up by now, Bitdefender, Avengate, and PayPal all win, yeah! After researching these two bottom-feeder companies I found that the Revdex.com complaints usually settleSo my advice is to dispute these creeps through the Revdex.com, it's easy, do it now! Since Avengate snatched my money, I am disputing them 1stThe unwanted product key was voided just after the PayPal disputethey are rated Revdex.com A+, and a paying member of Revdex.comSo they will most likely settle and keep their A++++++ rating, yeah A+ Man! If they don't make it right soon I will then file a fraud complaint against Bitdefender (C-) here(This is just my review of my awesome experience with Bitdefender, not a complaint requesting action) The Revdex.com complaint form is easy to fill outLook below for the link I found the original Bitdefender invoice, read all 500+ words, down at the bottom there is one line that says by purchasing I can "auto renew"So that is their hookThis is criminal! talk about bait and switch up sale, I call shenanigans!!! Bought bitdefender anti Virus plus for $on a special thanksgiving deal
Tried it
It has very little configuration options (you can't control what it is doing to you)
The one thing I did configure it ignored
Requested an activation number (it was never sent after I bought it)
Never got it, just a robo response that they were "working on it"
Uninstalled it
Asked for a refund
I've been getting a lot of robo responses and actual person - but no refund
This is clearly a crooked operation selling a crummy product
Highly recommend to STAY AWAY!

I read all the reviews and Bitdefender received top ratingsBased on this I ordered Bitdefender and also their service to have a tech help install the programI recevied an email with a link to schedule a call to help with the installI then received another email stating that the would be a delay in contactI waited and waited and no reply or phone callI then wrote an email and asked what the delay wasNo replyFinally on 12/I sent an email asking for a refundNo replyOn 12/another email asking for a refundNo reply.I called today 12/and spoke to a person and was told that I would received an email in hours and that my refund was approvedIt is now hours later and no replyI will have to call again after the HolidaysIt may be a great program but there is NO CUSTOMER SERVICEAt this point this could be the only company with the product and I still would not purchase itBEWARE

Approx two weeks ago I ordered Bitdefender Antivirus 2016 tried it out for a few days did not like it at all, I looked up the return policy and it says I have 30 days, so I sent in an email asking for a refund a week went by nothing. So I put in another email another week has gone by nothing. I tried contacting them through the online chat (no one showed up said nobody was available big suprise huh?) I DO NOT AT ALL RECOMMEND anyone buy anything from this company. They already seem incredibly shady for not replying to any of my inquiries.

Although their product gets rave reviews, and it may be good, they are crooks when it comes to renewing their products. I've gotten a few reminders this past week of the impending date when my subscription will expire. The renew offer shows a 30% discount on a $119.95 product bringing the cost DOWN to $95.95. I knew I hadn't paid anything close to that initially so I browsed to their site and low and behold, the price for [redacted] Public is $59.98. Although some may consider this fair business, I feel it is quite dishonest and a clear ploy to take advantage of those that may not check their facts appropriately. For that reason alone, regardless of how good their product is, I will not be renewing or using products from Bitdefender, LLC ever again.

Prompted by a reminder from Bitdefender that my renewal was coming due, I clicked on a link and renewed with my credit card. $39.95. The next day they billed me another $79.95 on the same card, without my knowledge or consent. I only learn of the charge after reviewing my monthly credit card statement.

I contacted the company and brought the issue to their attention. They informed me that although I had renewed 'manually', they processed an 'automatic renewal' the next day. They insist that the two transactions - for the same licence key and time period - are somehow unrelated, and refuse to refund. I was not aware of agreeing to any auto renewal. Communication is only by email - there is never a name or phone number to contact. I argue that I have been double (or triple) billed, and they reply that they can't issue a refund after 30 days, but if I am not happy with the product, I can tell them the technical problems I am having and they will try to help me.

My credit card company contacted them on my behalf and was told a 'supervisor', who was busy on another call, would call me shortly to discuss resolving the complaint. No call. Later that day I reached that supervisor who agreed to help resolve the problem, and promises to call me the next morning. Instead I get another one of their emails about no refunds after 30 days, and telling me I have TWO separate subscriptions that will give me two year's subscription (that's a new one!). At this point I reply that I have only one subscription, one licence key, and I think they are scamming, and that I am going to register complaints with Revdex.com and Florida Attorney General. They reply that they are issuing a refund, it will take a week, and they hope I will reconsider and 'try their product again'... At the time of writing this review, a week has not passed [redacted] so I can't say if they will actually issue a refund.

Looking at other reviews and complaints on Revdex.com, it is clear that this company is systematically engaging in credit card fraud.

I had to use a search engine to find the website 'avangate' and actually use the order number they put on my renewal to find the option to turn off auto-renewals.
I would recommend their software but not their customer service.

Similar billing issues for me. They offered me an early renewal deal, which I fell for. They then billed me $89.95 for an auto-renewal a few months later, even though I had already renewed. Still try to get them to refund my money. Shady. Be careful with this company.

I purchased a subscription for Bitdefender in 2014 for $30 and was never given an option to opt out of the auto-renewal of my subscription. When my year was up, I deleted all the software and installed a different antivirus. Now over a year after I removed the software, I find that Bitdefender has charged my account $45 in 2015 without my approval and $90 in 2016. I have never reinstalled Bitdefender into any of my computers or been given a new validation number to activate it if I did. Plus, I have never received any emails informing me of the charge or how to activate my new subscription. Once I noticed the charges, I called Bitdefender to dispute the charge. I was put on the phone with a very rude customer service agent, who told me there was nothing they could do because I hadn't noticed the charge soon enough. They informed me that the matter would be looked into but almost a week later, I get an email saying the exact same thing. Never has any representative asked me what happened or allowed me to explain before insisting there was nothing that could be done. BEWARE!!!! They will do everything they can to shuffle you from person to person in an attempt to stall you past the refund deadline. If you don't notice the charge (ACH - AvanGate) and contact the correct office within 30 days, they will try to deny your claim. They have set the auto-renewal as the default for a reason and are now fleecing thousands of people out of their money DO NOT BUY BITDEFENDER!!!!

I have used Bitdefender's products for three years. I have found the product to be decent, but not good enough to overcome their total lack of customer service. I purchased a license for a new computer, but the license was automatically complied to an old computer. I contacted Bitdefender immediately about the issue. It has now been over a month with no resolution. It takes their customer service over a week to respond to emails and they do everything possible to avoid refunds. I will never use this product again.

Beware of Bitdefender's automatic renewal service. Twice they automatically renewed my subscription without my authorization. I tried calling to obtain a credit and they did not want to provide me with a credit since it was after 30 days. The wait time to open a ticket and speak to a supervisor was unsatisfactory. I will never purchase another Bitdefender product.

Their auto-renewal setup is criminal. There is no way to stop the process - plan on calling your bank to stop payment. Emailing support won't help, as they will delay dealing with your issue until the auto-renewal date has passed.

I bought Bitdefender 2015 anti virus just over a year ago. I bought a 3 device license for $39.95. It worked OK, blocked some bad sites, and worked quietly. I had been a Avast customer prior but got tired of all the pop ups.

I knew the year was about up so I had planned to shop around comparing: Bitdefender, Webroot, and avira. All are highly rated in the IT security community. I had about a week before expiration so no hurry. (I have since bought 3 license of Webroot amazon download $15.05, no hooks, works better than BD)

Four days before the expiration date I found a strange charge on my PayPal for $79.95 to a unknown to me company "Avengate". How the heck did this company grab $79.95 from my PayPal? I immediately filed a fraud report to PayPal. PayPal quickly responded that I had an auto-renew agreement in place with Avengate, What??? They turned off the "auto money snatch" hook but closed the ticket because I unknowingly had set the "hook" by buying Bitdefender a year earlier. Bitdefender and Avengate are in bed together with a ping pong game of placing the blame on the other. They intentionally wear down the consumer until they just give up. It probably works +90% of the time. (Wear them down or time out the warranty)

It's now day 13 in the Bitdefender refund hostage crisis, Avengate has responded a few times, saying they can snatch all the money they want out of my account, but can't refund any. Only Bitdefender can refund. Bitdefender ignored 5 different requests, finally responded after 12 days of daily pestering, Their story is that "since I complained to PayPal I need to go through PayPal to try to get a charge-back". This is so funny because Bitdefender knows that PayPal sides with the money grabber auto snatch policy that was sneaked in. PayPal close's the ticket which can't be opened again without pulling teeth. (My last resort will be to go back to PayPal the product was voided, no sale)

Most consumers will give up by now, Bitdefender, Avengate, and PayPal all win, yeah!

After researching these two bottom-feeder companies I found that the Revdex.com complaints usually settle. So my advice is to dispute these creeps through the Revdex.com, it's easy, do it now!.

I found the original Bitdefender invoice, read all 500+ words, down at the bottom there is one line that says by purchasing I can "auto renew". So that is their hook. This is criminal! talk about bait and switch up sale, I call shenanigans!!!

For the life of me, I can't understand how they are A+, just because the rotten business settles the hundreds and hundreds of complaints. I think their rating should be knocked down a notch for been lying cheating asshats (seat covers).

So they doubled the price and grabbed my money without permission. Stonewalled and lied. Played hot potato too. I have been spending about an hour a day trying to get a refund of my $79.95, and posting to the IT forums about these creeps.

My advice is don't Buy Bitdefender, checkout Webroot, avira, or even Windows Defender from Microsoft, it's free.
If you have already purchased Bitdefender make sure you turn off auto-renew.

The company charged my card without authorization. Apparently, buried in the terms of service that you must agree to before installing the program is an automatic renewal clause. A charge showed up on my card out of the blue.
