Auto renewal for VPN was turned OFF. They say it was on and they billed me $49.99. That is a lie. It was turned OFF and this is fraudulent.
I received an auto renewal notice for Bitdefender Premium VPN at $49.99. I followed the link in the email to turn off autorenewal. I was not able to turn it off because the website reported to me that auto-renewal was already turned OFF.

A week later I get a congratulations that they've billed my $49.99 and renewed it.

This action was fraudulent. I did not authorize the renewal and payment of this useless product and I want an immediate and 100% refund.

Desired Outcome

I want a 100% immediate refund to my credit card of the $49.99 that I was fraudulently charged.

Bitdefender Response • Apr 17, 2019

Please note that we have issued a refund for Mr. on the 15th of April 2019. The amount of 49.99 USD should appear in his account in a couple of business days.

Customer Response • Apr 18, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)
Issue resolved, but the billing never should have happened in the first place.

I did not receive full refund as guaranteed .
on 03-15-2019 , I purchased antivirus and installation from said company for $106.98 and 32.09 , on the same date I was promised a full refund in 48 to 72 hours , as of this date I have not received a refund and I have contacted the company , but to no avail.

Desired Outcome

full refund

Bait & Switch pricing on their website - https://www.bitdefender/renewal/
& little & very disjointed ticket responses.
Initially I tried to renew on 12/28/2018, but when checking out thru PayPal, they required me to allow future withdrawals from this same account, even though I had selected to not allow autorenewal. I opened ticket - XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX - the same day a canned response of "to confirm that we have received your request". NOTHING ELSE UNTIL 01/29/2019

On 01/03/2019 - I used a link from an "renew" email Bitdefender sent - it offered - Internet Security 2019 - 3 years - up to 5 devices - $68 (a savings of $101

Desired Outcome

As this company has no regard for their current, and future customers, by way of not responding to open tickets in their system in a timely manner (They show 24/7 response on most every advertising page they have available) on 03/01/2019 I removed Bitdendfer from all my devices and replaced with a more responsive IT Security provided. Based on price paid $50.99, and time remaining, as acknowledged in Bitdefender email of 01/29/2019 - "since your product will expire on 20 May 2019 we change the renewal". I want a refund of my remaining subscription - $11.31. I should not be expected to pay for an IT Security solution that allows 4 tickets to remain open: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX - Fab 26 at 10:23 AM *** - Jan 4 at 7:56 AM *** - Jan 3 at 2:49 PM XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX - Dec 28, 2018 at 11:35 AM with unacceptable responses, uses their "reseller" to obfuscate any attempts at resolution, and when they send an apology for taking so long, offer something different that was originally offered, and won't provide any to directly contact them even tho they say "' If you need further assistance please feel free to contact us. Have a nice day, ***! Best regards

Bitdefender Response • Apr 02, 2019

Please note that I have looked over the case of our customer. Indeed, the customer submitted a request on the 28th of Dec 2018. Due to a high number of requests received during that period, we replied to the customer on Feb 11th 2019 with an offer but it was not satisfactory for him at that time.

Mr. then requested a discount and we have provided him with the requested offer on the 20th of March 2019. From the customer's complaint case we understand that the customer was not happy with the response time and that he was also not able to purchase the discounted offer. He is also asking for a prorated refund of the remaining validity left on his subscription.

I have replied to the customer mentioning that most purchase related issues (such as discount not displayed correctly) are most likely due to the cookies and cache stored in his browser.

Also, we have mentioned that the order for which he is asking for a refund is outside the 30-day refund policy he agreed upon when purchasing. Since the order is from February 2018, we cannot issue a refund. However, we offered a 6-month free subscription for the customer.

Customer Response • Apr 03, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Bitdefender predicates their refusal to provide a prorated refund on "being outside the 30 day refund window". The request is for a prorated return of unused subscription. The request is due to their not providing timely response within their 24/7 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEED Support which is Bitdefender's part of the contract which Bitdefender breached, before I changed providers & requested a refund.

Bitdefender had ample opportunity to provide a resolution within their contract, and chose not to. If Bitdefender can break their 24/7 Support & 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, Bitdefender can provide a return of unused subscription payment. No one would continue to use a Internet Security company that fails to respond to an issue for over 40 days (with an offer that didn't match the initial offering).

The offers they finally provided (beginning March 20th 2019, >60 days after reporting it) which matched my issue, only came after Bitdefender knew I had removed Bitdefender's product from my system (March 01, 2019) & Bitdefender knew it was extremely unlikely at that point anyone who had removed Bitdefender's product and chosen another provider would return to using Bitdefender's product after such service & the concerns for lack of Support in general for a service which is no small issue in Online security for anyone/everyone these days.

There is no way Bitdefender can feel they provided acceptable service /Support required of a Company providing Internet/computer security in this day & age. Not taking responsibility for Bitdefender's own breaches of contract, yet noting a technicality for not providing a return of unused subscription monies to me, is the same as offering 100% satisfaction guaranteed, but then completely ignoring the fact that Bitdefender can see I am not even close to !00% satisfied.

Bitdefender Response • Apr 30, 2019

Please note that we have issued a partial refund of 11.31 USD for the customer and informed him accordingly.

Revdex.com of Southeast Florida:

I have repeatedly tried to complete the process of filing a complaint with the Revdex.com of Southeast Florida and the Caribbean against Bitdefender, LLC, but each time your website would not allow me to enter Step 4 (Your Complaint) to complete the 6 step process. Therefore, I am filing/2submitting my complaint here. On Wednesday, February 20th, I received an email from Bitdefender informing me that they had renewed my subscription by billing my Visa credit card without my authorization. I sent an email that day stating that I had not authorized them to bill my credit card, and I would be notifying Visa of this unauthorized transaction. I called Visa and confirmed that Bitdefender had indeed stolen money from my account.

From the comments posted about Bitdefender on the Revdex.com website, it is clear the response to their unscrupulous business practices has most often been impunity or a slap on the wrist at best. Furthermore, their data security is lacking. Bitdefender offers ersatz apologies or reluctantly promises refunds only when they are caught. They definitely do not deserve a C+ business rating. Bitdefender continues to place profits over consumers' rights. Due to their corporate arrogance and indifference, I will be filing a complaint with the FTC and the Florida AG's office as well.

Please note that we have received the refund request from the customer on Feb 22nd 2019. We sent the customer an email with a special offer but we did not receive a reply. Since our user complained about the automatic renewal in the Revdex.com case, I have processed a refund for his subscription on the 28th of Feb 2019.

We also provided the user with a 4-month free extension if he would still consider using our products (we are waiting for his confirmation in order to make the adjustments). The automatic renewal option for his subscription was also disabled.

Customer Response • Mar 19, 2019

I am not at fault despite your subtle attempt at shifting the blame. Your dubious practice of so-called automatic subscription renewal is overreach and a boon to your bottom line. If you wanted to eliminate bitdefender's rampant bad press/consumer complaints and truly have transparency, you would eliminate auto renewal as the default. Auto renewal should be a consumer's active choice at the point of purchase not a default that one has to option out of because you have predetermined that a consumer will renew your product. The bottom line is if consumers don't explicitly ask for auto renewal, you should not Force it on them.

I made it perfectly clear to bitdefender in my email dated February 20, 2019 that I did not want my subscription to renew automatically, yet you renewed it Two Days later being fully aware of my objections; I verified this with Visa. Your assertion that it is reasonable to consider that the consumer agrees with auto renewal if one does not contact bitdefender is not applicable because you were made aware of my objections before you Took Money Out of My Pocket. Unfortunately, there are tens of thousands of consumers to whom you have done the same as evidenced by the countless consumer complaints. You continue to perpetuate this fraud and rake in millions from those who don't exert the energy to pursue their refunds.

First rate companies maximize profits by the quality of their goods and services not by shady business practices.

I will join the ever growing chorus of consumers who sound the alarm to warn consumers before they do business with you.

Thanking bitdefender after a refund for an Unauthorized Charge is a kin to thanking an armed robber after the police made him return my wallet with all the valuables.

I purchased Bitdefender protection. I had major issues and contacted support. They took weeks between replies, and now refuse a refund b/c of time?
I purchased Bitdefender on Oc. 27, 2018 to use for personal computer protection against online threats, and so on.
I notified them on November 11, 2018 that I was having issues with their product because it was preventing me from getting online using wifi connections.
I received NO reply at all, yet continued to have problems in public locations.
On December 23, 2018, again I contacted them with the same question and also asked how to put the product on a new computer because I was replacing my computer and thought that maybe this would help the problem. They replied on January 2 and responded only to the question about installation.
I continued to try to get answers, explaining on January 5 that the answer to neither question was responsive - they offered no help at all.
I did not hear back until January 18 (!), and again they failed to respond with a solution.
These exchanges continued with my immediate reply, followed by over a week and up to three weeks between their answers.
Finally, I have asked them for a refund, since clearly they have no answers for me and obviously no time to help (I have asked many times for a phone number so we could just deal with it quickly, but they refuse).
They now say that they offer no refunds after 30 days. Well, if they would have responded in a timely manner from the start, I would have known the low quality of their customer service and would then have requested a refund immediately! But they pull you in and you have no idea how bad they are until well past their 30 day refund time limit!
I now would like my refund.

Desired Outcome

$31.86 - price paid

Yes, and done

O Jan 29, 2019 I signed up for an antivirus program (Bitdefender) and the cost was $31.86 for a one year period. On Jan 30, 2019 I was checking my Visa credit account and noticed two charges for $31.86 (2cocom*bitdefender.com) . On Jan 30, 2019 at 9:20 AM I called the phone number given to me by my bank (X(XXX) XXX-XXXX and talked to Mr. *** about cancelling the second charge. When Mr Smith looked up my records, he said that the program I signed up for would not work on my Windows 10 Operating system. He said that the second billing was a mistake and he would cancel both charges. He then started telling me about which program I needed. When he started this long explanation of this new program, I told him to stop an give me the cost of this program. The cost was $ 169.00 per year, at this point I told him to cancel all charges and I was not interested in the scam. I then called the bank and canceled the credit card, so he could not add any new charges. As of Feb. 7, 2019 the false charges to my account have not been removed.

Customer Response • Feb 21, 2019

Bitdefenders has refunded all of the money I requested. They sent me a letter denying any scam, but when I called and complained they agreed to the refund.

I thank you for your help in getting the refund. Without your help I would not have received the refund.

Thank you for your help!!

I used their product one time 2 years ago. This is second time I have had to cancel "auto-renewal" via telephone. Can't complete on line.
I called 2nd year in row for cancellation of an "auto-renewal" I never wanted.

They tripled original cost. They didn't take me off auto-renew. They made it impossible to cancel the renewal on line. They send an email giving less than 3 days to cancel. I think this is a borderline if not outright scam.

Desired Outcome

Full refund and take me off auto-renew, delete my credit card information which I didn't authorize you to store.

Bitdefender Response • Feb 11, 2019

They make it very difficult to cancel their "recurring" membership. It takes multiple attempts. They claim you can do it on line and there is no link. It takes a phone call with a long wait time. They you finally get it done.

Bewaredon't sign up for them.

BitDefender withdrew $89.95 from my bank account without authorization many months after I chose not to renew my account with them.
At 8:45 pm Central Time, BitDefender stole $89.95 from my checking account. In late July, 2018, my subscription with their anti-virus protection software expired. They sent multiple emails asking me to renew. I had no interest in renewing because the computer is no longer operational, so I simply chose not to. Then, six months later, out of the blue, BitDefender sent me three emails congratulating me for renewing my subscription. I checked my bank account and, sure enough, they had stolen $89.95 from my checking account. This is simple theft. This purchase was completely unauthorized, and this business practice is immoral...again, it's simple theft.

Desired Outcome

I want a full refund and I want BitDefender to remove me and my bank card information from their records. And I want an apology.

My Bitdefender account auto renewed on 12/28/18. On the same day, I completed an online form requesting to cancel and issue a refund. Regarding the desired resolution for the customer, please note that we have fully refunded his automatic renewal order on 21st Jan 2019. It usually takes between 5 to 7 business days for the transfer to be made visible in customer's account.

Their automatic renewal policy does not honor customer cancellations.
If a customer clicks the radio button to cancel automatic renewal in their profile setting it is reset without the customers consent or knowledge. Automatic renewal notice is given 5 days prior to the billing of such however again the customer is. not allowed to opt out of the automatic billing. Subsequent requests for a refund are delayed and the customer is told they must wait for the proper authorization for a refund however weeks go by without any communication or receipt of a refund. This is a dubious and deceitful practice at best by Bitdefender.

Desired Outcome

I am seeking a refund of $96.29 the amount I was charged for an automatic renewal fee I cancelled and tried to cancel on several occasions before the billing took place.

Bitdefender Response • Jan 16, 2019

I was finally contacted by Bitdefender (Avangate, Inc.) last week via email with an offer to extend my subscription out another 18 months instead of receiving a refund. I did not reply to several other emails offering this "deal".Thus yesterday I finally received a full refund of my $96.29 the amount of the auto-renewal.I want to thank the Revdex.com for being there for consumers. I purchased a Bitdefender Total Security via online at a great discount. I then discovered that the software is just a fake one that they sell cheap with no security at all. Everytime I try to use a web site, the site is marked as not safe and the program will not let me load it. I save it to the protected sites in the Bitdefender software but I get the same message again. I had to remove it from computer and go a get Norton. Do not pay for this scam. It is not secure and it is not encrypting your web searches or passwords or anything. Your Wi-Fi becomes public right away. I heard that they use those cheap offers to just get people to sign and then sell their information in Europe where it is located. I know it for a fact as my name and user name was used by a relative in Spain to purchase the same cheap offer and they sold it to her without even checking her identity. Do not buy those cheap offers from Bitdefender. There is no support and the software does not work nor protect your computer.

defective product that lead to fraud over $1,000.00. They never got back to me to help me fix the trojan virus.
Purchased this worthless product with over 160 days left of the 1 year subscription and my credit cards were stolen from my ebay and paypal account. This worthless product did NOT pick up the trojan virus that was there since June. I ran windows antivirus defender and it picked up the trojan in less than 1 minute. I ran bitdefender every single day and it never picked up the virus. I had to close numerous credit cards due to this defective product! Customer service is WORTHLESS and offers ZERO help. I was filing my compliant over 2 hours online and was given difficult tools to use to send them information. I had to rip out bitdefender and upload malware bytes who also picked up the trojan both windows defender and malware bytes are free and bitdefender you pay top dollar for and it does not work. Now I dont have the paid bitdefender as once you remove it you cant get it back if it has a virus or corrupted At least Norton you can reinstall after norton binds to the virus to protect you. I use to love bitdefender but now WORTHLESS! NEVER GOT BACK TO ME OR OFFERED IMMEDIATE HELP TO REMOVE VIRUS!

Desired Outcome

my money back to say the least and compensation for the hours of canceling my credit cards and all the drama i had to deal with the fraud i suffered from there defective product!

Bitdefender proceeded to collect a fee of $89.99 on 12.9.2018 without prior, known consent and has refused to refund unused subscription.
Upon renewal of my Bitdender Total Security in January of 2018, I was unaware of an auto-renewal feature. It is not obviously displayed within the program or on the renewal agreement. On December 9,l 2018, I received an email stating that I had paid $89.99 to Avangate, on behalf of Bitdefender. I immediately emailed them and after a full day of no response, called them to contest the auto-renewal and demanded a refund because I have no intention of using the activation code. I also challenged the payment via Paypal but was refused due to it being a contracted withdrawal. Bitdefender asked for a letter of confirmation that the hold had been released and I sent a copy of the email from Paypal. It has been four days since doing so and I am still being told the issues is under review. I have also made three phone calls, each time being assured that the issue would be handled immediately. It has not.

Upon research, I found that this is a prevalent issue on many forums, that Bitdefender / Avangate does not make the buyer aware of the hidden auto-renewal. What's worse is that it has come at a very bad time, during the holiday season. I was not prepared to pay this, as every dollar has been accounted for during the season. It also stands to be said that this product can be purchased at half the price at the local electronics store and I feel this is a way for the company to wrongfully overcharge the customer and then make it nearly impossible to obtain a refund for an unauthorized and unused product!

Desired Outcome

Due to the fact that I was not aware, nor did I authorize the payment in advance, I demand a full refund to the source the payment was withdrawn from.

Account was AUTO-RENEWED prior to the expiration of my existing subscription.
On July 25, 2018 I received a notification that my product had expired. The company recommended that I renew for a price of $79.99. Instead, I went online and purchased the exact product for $39.99.
On October 17, 2018 I received a notice that my account would be renewed in 5 days.
They renewed my account despite my objections and the fact that I had an active subscription. Not only that, but they charged my PayPal account $96.29.

After exchanging numerous e-mails, it appears that the company has no intention of refunding my duplicate payment.
