I received a call around 4PM but didn't answer it as I dont answer calls from private/unknown #'s. They continued to call me several times after leaving me messages that I was being sued. I didn't pay it any mind since I don't have anything or anyone that could take legal action against me so I thought it was a scam. I started getting calls from my mother, sister, brother & even my sisters boyfriend?? saying that they were each harassed by a law firm trying to get in contact with me to serve me papers & that I only had an hour to call back or they'd presume with legal action. This was the text my brother sent me "Hi Jeannette, you need to call 253-642-6261. The reference # is WA164549. They said it was urgent. Let me know if you need help." I've never received such forceful collecting tactics before so I started to get worried. I called them back & was told that I in fact was being sued by US Bank for an old credit card that I knew was out of statute. I know my rights & I know that it is illegal to act as if your an attorney/lawyer/processor (whatever lie they feel like calling themselves) when there not & also to pretend as if this debt is in the litigation process when it is not so I told them to go ahead & serve me just like I told the last collection agency calling about the same loan saying the same thing but never did anything. The gentlemen obviously didn't expect me to be as knowledgeable as I was & thought he could feed me a bunch of lies about my own information like he knew more about me then I knew about me, I think not. I had a bad feeling from the beginning because I've never heard of or experienced an attorney, debt collector or professional anything for that matter harass family members, be so rude & act the way they did. The guy even said he was looking at a my credit report so they could be calling about any of the numerous debt I had which makes no sense whatsoever because they originally called about US Bank & now he's saying it could be anything-HUGE RED FLAG! After all, I really just want people to report this agency to the attorney generals office & share your story so that others don't get taken advantage of. I read 2 other similar stories like mine about the same B&L Group out of California & 100% sure they are illegally collecting debt. Don't be a victim to these people!
