This change comes as a result of direct costs indoing business. These increased costs are changes to healthcare mandates and increased minimum wages.We've absorbed the increases as much as we can; however we must share some of the cost increasesthrough price updates.During this adjustment, we remain steadfast on our commitment to coffee, community, and customerexperience.A friendly reminder to our Black Cup friends:• Receive a $0.25 discount each time you use your own mug. Helping us to help the environment.• Active duty military and veterans receive a 10% discount on all purchases.• Receive 10% added value each time you purchase or reload a prepaid gift card in $20 increments.• Free coffee beverage of choice on your birthday. Just let your barista know!• Free refills on fresh brewed coffee. From beginning to end, we want your day to be smooth.• Know that we will always remake your drink until you're satisfied. To whom it may concern,On March 7th Black Cup Coffee had an across the board price increase for the first time inmany years. This was done because our cost of operations have increased dramatically overthe course of the last few years. Both due to the increase of the cost of goods that we have topurchase to continue running our cafe and due to higher labor rates. Black Cup has avoidedraising prices as much as possible because it is our mission to serve the best quality coffeebeverages at the most affordable cost to the customer, however it is inevitable in business thateventually as our costs continue to rise our prices must reflect those changes.Prior to our increase on March 7th a sign was visibly posted at the point of sale where it wasmost likely to be seen by the largest percentage of customers that visited our cafe. We wereupfront about the changes and made sure to be available to answer anyone's questions orconcerns regarding the upcoming change. Attached you find a copy of that letter. A menu boardcontaining the old pricing was removed from the premises and brought to an offsite locationwhere it would be reformatted and updated with the revised pricing. Because those changeswere already being made on that board we chose to use the opportunity to consider having anadditional art piece incorporated into the menu.Pricing is currently posted on smaller standing clipboard menus next to the register, anddisplays many various beverages and food items offered at our cafe. Any pricing not containedon those menus is available from the barista which serves as the primary point of contact forany customer in placing their order.At no time was there ever any intent of deceiving Black Cup customers. Our pricing remainsconsistent and very competitive with other similar businesses in Anchorage.
