I applied for an Apartment online with this company. They were happy to take my application fee of $45 non-refundable and the deposit of $300 refundable if denied for move -in. I was denied for move in and it has been 8wks and I still can not get my $300 back I have been told every excuse they could think of. One computer program didn't know that I applied so they had to redo it.( after waiting 4 wks) then they cut the check but sent it to my old address after they were told my new address 3 times. So they had to cancel that check and cut another one. (this took 3wks) They supposedly cut another check and mailed it out to me that was a week ago and still no check. I can get mail clear across country in 4 days!!! Now I guess I'm gonna have to call the police for theft and go to court just to get my $300 back.m This is the WORST COMPANY EVER!!!!! What ever you do don't move there.

After reviewing this account, a refund check was sent on Nov 5th and was requested by the applicant to change forwarding address after check was mailed. A stop payment was placed on the check sent out Nov 5th and a new check with current forwarding address was sent out Nov 22nd. The Black Lake on-site team has reached out to the applicant a few times via email and phone with no replay to verify if payment was received.
This business is the worst I’ve ever come across in my life. They are liars and thieves. When we were going over apartment information, they lied to me and told me that I qualify for the apartment and to fill out the application. Once they got my $40 for the application they then told me I didn’t qualify and it’s too bad. AND THEN two days later they took $300 out of my bank account for a security deposit that they told me I did not qualify for!!!!! How are they gonna tell me to my face that I don’t qualify for the apartment, take my $40 and still take the $300 deposit as if I were to move in. I’m currently homeless due to them telling me I would be able to move in, and I could’ve used the deposit for a much better business. They have caused a delay in housing and I am very upset.

Thank you for allowing me to follow up on this complaint via email. This was an online applicant that agreed to pay a holding fee in the amount of $300 during the online screening process. This fee of $300 would roll over to a security deposit if the applicant was approved and moved into the community. On September 19, 2018 a refund of $300 (check number ***) was processed and mailed to the applicant last known address due to not meeting our screening criteria. Please let me know if this will satisfy and close the complaint or if I can assistant in anything further.

I am rejecting this response because: They also charged me the $40 application fee AFTER we discussed that I did not qualify due to income, I was told it would be fine. I understand the check was sent back but they still lied about my income being ok until after I put the 40$ application fee through if they would like to know who assisted me and gave the wrong information about income and it was Adrienne in the black lake location
