Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/06/29) */
***'s truck was severely damaged in the accidentThe truck has a lift attached to it for moving containersThe lift is big and bulkyit would have cost $40-50,to replace the liftThe insurance company was close to totaling the truck
without replacing the lift*** wanted to keep the repairs under the limit where the truck would be totaledWe straightened the truck frame per the estimate supplied to the insurance company*** brought the truck back because of the twist in the liftwe tried to straighten it, but it is so massive, we weren't able toThe only way to remove the twist in the lift is to remove it from the truck, straighten it, and re-install itThat was not part of our original estimate, and *** would be responsible for paying for itThe insurance company already paid what they will to repair the truck, so *** would have to pay for it out of pocket

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/06/15) */
There are two issues here. First was the hit and run damage to the customer vehicle that occurred in our yard. Even though, we were not at fault, we offered to pick up parts and repair the damage for the customer. In fact, we picked up the...

parts to repair the damage and offered to make the repairs at no cost to the customer. The customer refused that and got an estimate of repairs for $1,595 that he wanted us to reimburse him for. We were not at fault in the first place, so that is not a reasonable request.
The second issue was the cost of the repairs. the customer said to call him if the repairs were going to be major like a fuel pump. That could be a couple thousand dollar repair. We determined that it was a sensor that was bad. Our service manager determined that this was not a major repair as the cost was well below that of a fuel pump, so he authorized installing the part.
This corrected the issue.
We dropped the original invoice down from $900 to $722.83 and offered to make repairs to the customers bus that were not our fault. We feel this is more than fair.

Thank you for the reply. I'd like to address these two issues:
1. The mechanics did do a nice repair on the furnace exhaust. I installed it and it is not part of the repair estimate. It looks good. The original parts that Blaine Brothers picked up were wrong. The exhaust vent was not compatible for the furnace and would have rendered the furnace inoperable, dangerous and not meeting code. They were able to repair the original and it works. I know that they meant well, but saying that they picked up parts is misleading as they were the wrong parts. For the other damage, they offered to sand the scrapes and use typical spray paint cans for the repair. This is not an acceptable solution and that is why it was refused. This proposed solution ignored the fact that several dents are present in the metal, and part of the body is pushed inward.
2. As far as the cost of engine repairs goes, I did not say "major like a fuel pump". Instead I said expensive. This is an important distinction. It was acknowledged that a phone call would be given if it was expensive. To me $900 is expensive. Either way, the repair has been paid and it isn't an issue any longer. I included this to illustrate the context of the situation.
I tried to be more civil about this by simply asking for $300 for body repair supplies. The estimate that I received was $595 for supplies/parts alone and $1000 for labor. Being in the repair business, I'm sure that Blaine Brothers can understand the cost of parts and supplies. The amount was denied and I was told to submit an estimate. That is what I am doing.
Blaine Brother's should have commercial liability insurance and garage keepers insurance for matters such as this. My vehicle was parked in their lot and under their care, control, and custody.
If we cannot get an acceptable resolution here, I would like to present this situation to a judge and let him or her decide on the outcome.
Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 9, 2015/06/23) */
I updated my case a few days ago. I have spoken to the business since then and at this time I would like to close it and mark it as resolved.
