Blink Optical Boutique Reviews (1)

Review: I have chosen this eye doctor to examine my eyes and shop the boutique to purchase my eyeglasses. I had issues in the past with my lenses not being cut properly to the prescription I need. I did decide to give them a second chance with my current pair of glasses which is a Big disappointment because now I have the same issues but worse. I have gone back to this place of business at least 4-5 times to correct this issue with my lenses and each time I go it gets worse not better. I feel the product I am getting is inferior. I cannot see thru my lenses properly, I cannot read which is the most important issue and I can't seem to get anyone to fit the glasses properly to my individual needs and this is the whole reason I went their because they act like they give that individual service. My eyesight is a big issue and I need to read very small print at my place of work. I feel I have been overcharged for this service and product plus they are keeping a balance of my money for store credit. The amount I believe is $40.00 and there is nothing in this store you can purchase for $40.00 and I certainly am not going back a third time. I feel they have sold me a very expensive inferior product and a very important product which I cannot see properly out of. I feel I was taken and my insurance overcharged as well. I had to pay over $400.00 out of my own pocket after the insurance paid them hundred's of dollars. I have tried several attempts to correct this issue and went as far as asking for a refund and I was refused. I feel taken advantage of and would like a copy of my prescription and a refund for the eyeglasses I cannot wear or see properly thru.Desired Settlement: I would like my most resent prescription from my last examination and I would like a full refund of the money I had paid out of pocket plus the $40.00 I feel they are holding hostage.

Response:

September 5, 2013

Dear **. [redacted]:

Thank you for your letter of September 3, 2013, concerning the poor service that patient [redacted] felt she received here at Blink Optical Boutique.

In response to the letter stating that this was not a first attempt to contact us, this was the first attempt we are aware of. We try to address all issues in a timely matter.

In response to [redacted] s complaints I will address the issues as stated in the complaint:

The patient was initially seen here at our facility on 08/06/2011. She received her glasses several days after that appointment. She came back once complaining of poor near vision and we addressed that by changing her segment height on her glasses. The patient left our shop happy and we didn’t hear from her again. At that visit, her out of pocket expense was $307.00.

**. [redacted] returned to our office on 03/23/2013 for an eye exam and eyeglasses. At that time she stated she wanted a large black frame. We assist in frame selection at the patient’s request. She preferred that she and her husband choose a frame themselves. When they had selected a frame we advised her that her selection was inappropriate for her prescription as well as aesthetically. She decided on that frame anyway. She paid a total of $472.00 out of pocket using her insurance (which paid us a total of $63.85, not “hundreds”).

The patient returned to our office wanting us to adjust her frame like her last frame had been, with entirely too much pantoscopic tilt. She claimed she could see better with that tilt. We explained the only reason to do that was because someone had put her segment height too low (on her glasses from another facility) and they had to tilt the glasses so she could read. When she returned again on 6/4/2013, we convinced her to seek a smaller frame. The new frame was less expensive than the first, especially after we applied her insurance discount (which, according to the insurance company we were not OBLIGATED to do but chose to do for good customer service). When we performed this service we also had to get the patient new lenses to fit the new frame at OUR expense (which WAS several hundred dollars).

As for the $40.00 credit, it clearly states on each and every one of our receipts that a patient receives that all returns after 7 days are for store credit only.

And finally, as for her receiving an “inferior product”, I beg to differ. Her lenses were from world-renowned Zeiss Laboratories using only their products. She received a premium progressive lens with premium coatings and extras, at the patient’s request.

She is correct when she states there is little or nothing you can buy in our store for $40.00. As we are a boutique we are considered a specialty shop with unique products and a pricing structure that reflects our unique products. As she had been here in 2011, she was aware of our product line and pricing structure.

In summary, we have gone above and beyond with this patient. When she last left, it seemed as though everything was fine. We have done everything we possibly could, up to this point, to make the patient satisfied with her eyewear, and would be more than happy to adjust her glasses again if need be.

Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention. We value our patient’s business.

Sincerely,
