Blodgett and Company, P.S. Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.   This business needs to attempt better communication with there clients.  I have been in business over 20 years and never had such a difficult time with an accounting office getting my taxes prepared and being prepared accurately as well as  being notified of the status.  Sincerely, [redacted]

I have been a Certified Public Accountant since 1980 and opened my firm in 1999.  In all these years I have never had a claim against me for any reason.  I regret that Mr. [redacted] decided to file a claim rather than discussing this matter with me in person.
Basically, the chronology of...

events as submitted by Mr. [redacted] was correct but there were several omissions.  When Mr. [redacted] brought in his tax records they were generally well organized.  We assumed the tax information he gave us was correct and proceeded to prepare his return based on that information.  Most importantly, miscommunications between Mr. [redacted], our staff and myself led to assumptions that were not correct.  Postponed or missed meetings made it impossible for me to review the return with Mr. [redacted] in person.  When Mr. [redacted] received the initial draft copy of his return he stated he had found errors.  I reviewed our work comparing the entries to his original tax information.  We had a meeting to go over these items and some of the errors were from his mistakes on the submission of data to us.  However, the essential error on his return was confirmed - an entry error by our office.  This error resulted in Mr. [redacted] owing tax rather than the refund I had expected.  We made the necessary changes and submitted another copy to Mr. [redacted] for his review.  He then stated he had yet another change so this return was also wrong.  I made the additional change and submitted the forms to him showing the correct tax due.  We received the signed form from Mr. [redacted] in person and filed the return on September 1.  The form was accepted by the IRS on that same day.  At that time, Mr. [redacted] had the form which stated the tax due.  On September 15 I received an email from Mr. [redacted] wondering what he owed the IRS.  I responded that same day.  On September 30 I received yet another email from Mr. [redacted] wondering what he owed the IRS.  I replied with another copy of the form showing the tax owing.  Additionally, in that same email, I informed Mr. [redacted] any penalties and interest could be deducted from my fee.  I asked for a confirmation of receipt of this email which I did not receive.  Mr. [redacted] knew the tax due on September 1 and all tax matters for his 2015 return could have been settled at that time.
As stated in my email of September 30th, Mr. [redacted] was informed at that time all interest and penalties would be absorbed by my firm.  However, to resolve this issue, I agree to waive my entire fee to settle this matter.
