2 year process of trying to get them to cancel my policy as of april 2017. Paid thru that date and canceled as of Jan 1 and are denying claim
Started new policy in Jan 2017 for the birth of my son and canceled it in April 2017 upon my husband obtaining new employment with insurance. Canceled my BCBS policy and was told it was taken care of. Continued to receive requests for payment for subsequent months following cancelation. called many times to discuss cancelation. (did not pay for subsequent months passed april) In January 2018 got a bill from BCBS notifying me that they were requesting return payment from a 20,800 claim at the hospital due to non coverage at that time. Faxed bank records of payment thru april and had policy reinstated for those Jan2017-April2017 months. Over that summer (2018) again continued to get statements asking for 2018 coverage payments. Called again to verify cancellation. During this time I also was getting statements telling me they owed me money and that I'd be refunded. I figured I'd overpaid because in 2017 I was estimating payments due to an issue in 2016 on my previous policy that again I was being assured was getting fixed. I received a cancelation notice and refund payment in fall of 2018 that reflected that I still had coverage in January of 2017. Today I received another notice from BCBS stating that they would be requesting the 20,800 payment back from my hospital again and that I didn't have coverage in Jan 2017. I'm currently on the phone trying again to get this worked out. I have spent probably 20 or more hours total trying to get this worked out via phone.
I need the claim to remain paid and for there to be record of my insurance policy being effective Jan 2017-April 2017.
This review is directed specifically towards the fitness program they offer. For starters, it is expensive and quite pointless unless you use multiple gyms for some reason because if you only use one gym, say LA Fitness or Anytime fitness you are essentially paying the same price as you would be for a membership. Maybe .50 difference? The main part of my review though is on how shady their terms and conditions are with this program. I would suggest reading this closely before signing up. In order to cancel you have to actually call them manually, even if you no longer actually have health insurance with Blue Cross because you have canceled it, this fitness program will keep charging your card for up to 6 months, even if you aren't eligible for the program anymore, this is really just a way for them to get money, sneakily without making it obvious in my opinion. They are misleading about this and don't tell you up front. Despite how misleading they are about this, they won't refund you. It's not "their policy". Their immediate response when you call to ask for a refund for the months they unfairly charged you for a program you can no longer use, is to remind you this was in the terms and conditions, so tough luck. No refund. Be careful. Personally in a nutshell, I feel his program really doesn't provide as many discounts as they like to advertise. There are hidden fees and hidden terms and conditions in fine print.
