our karaoke rooms. We remember when the customer arrived to our store with his family to sing karaoke. Before entering the room, we asked for a form of photo identification such as a driver license or even a student ID card to keep in the front desk. We, however, under no circumstances do we accept passports as they are unfeasible to be kept in our filing folder. The customer was puzzled and we informed him that we enforce this policy for the safety of all of our clients renting other rooms and to ensure accountability if any equipment was damaged during that time. We are dedicated to have an environment with great entertainment and utmost safety as we do not wish to have unknown personal wandering within the store. All of the ID cards are kept in a safe filing folder in the front desk beyond the public reach. Having explain our Karaoke policy, our staff member notice that the customer became visibly upset and asked to be exempt from the rule. As following protocol, the staff member reminded him that it is simply the policy of our business and cannot be broken. The customer stated that he felt unsafe leaving his ID with us and we respect his decision to withhold it. However, if our guidelines are not met, we are unable to allow him to rent the room. At this point, the customer raised his voice to our staff member stating that this was a violation to his privacy. Having disturbed the other customers present, our team member pointedly asked him to leave as he is causing a scene in our private establishment. As he is upsetting the other customers with his tirade, we reserve the right to refuse service to him and asked him to leave. The Bluemoon team also wish to note that other businesses that perform rental equipment or services also will require a form of photo ID to be kept such as bike rentals or bowling rentals. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because: Even though the store refused to say that it kept a passport with them, I did see they had an U.S passport with them along with other photo IDs. I do not know what is the reason they did not admit that, forgetting about the fact or just not wanting to admit, I did see an U.S passport. I do not have evidence, such as photo, to prove it because it was improper, infeasible and illegal for me to take picture of other's U.S passport just to prove that they did keep the U.S passport. Besides that, as one of its customers, it was to my huge concern that my private identity information might be improperly used by the store under its "policy". There are many better ways that they can ensure the safety of their customers and their facilities. For example, they can call the police anytime as needed. In general, I was still very unsatisied and disappointed with one of their female staffs' proud, arrogant, and rude service attitude. More importantly, I totally disagree with their policy of temporarily keeping customers' ID.

I was a customer at BlueMoon Cafe last night with my sisters and my sister's boyfriend. There was a total of 4 of us. My sister's boyfriend had asked the lady at the front desk for a room for the karaoke. We were informed that there would be a 10 minute wait, which was fine. While waiting 2 groups of Chinese people, a small group and a large group, came in and was seen immediately. However, we ended up waiting for about 20 minutes. When we try asked again, for how much longer we would have to wait, their response was another 10 minutes; because all the rooms were taken. I feel that was very rude and very racist. The fact that my group did not speak Chinese, we were forgotten and ignored. We were very disrespected. We were very polite while we had waited. This was our first time at BlueMoon Cafe. We wanted to give them a try and was very disappointed. I do not appreciate the disrespect I was given. Especially when I am 3 month pregnant and can't not drink with my sisters, but I still chose to come out with my sisters. Our goal last night was to have a good time, sing and enjoying their food. But we never got the chance to even try it out.

Review: To whom it may Concern,

I am filling this complaint because I have a deep concern regarding the privacy issue of the merchant Blue Moon Café and Karaoke. Last Friday night at 11:30p.m, I went to this place with my family to sing Karaoke. After we arrived, during the check-in process, one of the store employees asked for my ID and she said she would have to keep my ID throughout the whole time when we were there. She didn't just ask for my ID to check my identity. Instead, she wanted to keep my ID throughout the whole time. I have never had my ID taken away from me by a merchant. I think only government department or police department have the power to do that under certain conditions. I was very concerned that they could potentially took my ID away and copied down my personal information, and they could potentially use my personal information to do something against me. It is a very strange and unreasonable act for them to keep my ID. Because this behavior of keeping IDs is still potentially risky and it is affecting many other customers. Also, they not only took IDs away, and I also see that they were keeping an American passport. Even though I addressed my concerns to them, they still refused to give my ID to me beforehand, and they said this is how they have been running the business. After I continued to explain my concerns, they service attitude turned much worse. They threw my ID back to me and told me that I could leave if I want because they are not trying to keep me here. Here in the United States, we all value our personal information and privacy, and I am not sure the process of keeping my ID throughout the whole time is a violation of any privacy policies or laws or not.Desired Settlement: Most importantly, I would like to see this policy be changed. Blue Moon Café and Karaoke can still run their business, but they should never keep customers' ID or passport ever again. The merchant can still check the IDs and return them to the customers immediately afterwards. Also, I would like to be notified if some changes happen. And I am happy to answer any questions if there is any.
