Blue Plate Cafe Reviews (2)

Good Afternoon, Name: [redacted]Business to File Complaint Against: Blue Plate Cafe Downtown Location[redacted]Problem: This morning I walked from my office on Main St and placed an order with Blue Plate Cafe located at [redacted], to go. I noticed that the total was higher than it should have been. There was a noticeable increase after taxes. When I asked the young lady what the additional charge was, she expressed that she was unaware. I called the[redacted] location to speak with the GM [redacted] however I was told that "I just missed him". When I expressed my concern, the receptionist explained that there is a take out charge. The problem is that there is not any signs posted in the store or on any menu given by Blue Plate staff that makes the consumer aware of the additional charges for take out orders. When I expressed this to the receptionist, she stated that there is information printed on a take out menu, however the menu is not in circulation for consumers. The only person who will see the additional charges is the cashier when the consumer checks out. As a downtown employee, I entertain out of town visitors and potential funders at this restaurant. While this time it was merely a slight increase, I am concerned at how many other consumers have been "ripped off" by this hidden fee. It is clear that there is not any verbiage nor is there any additional printed information to alert that there is an additional charge. Furthermore, is this a flat fee or is it an increased amount depending on the amount of the total take out order. This seems very unethical and very unprofessional. [redacted] as myself take pride in our local food chains and it is a shame that this is what you find out when you actually slow down and look at the charges you are inquiring. I have always been aware of to go fees and willingly pay, but to feel scammed out of money is disheartening.Desired SettlementResolution: It should be enforced that Blue Plate Cafe print additional fees on menus for consumers to see and give the patrons the respect of being aware that they are paying additional fees for to go orders. Also, they should be fined for the lack of ethics in this practice. I'm sure there have been a great deal of money made from hidden fees if there were an audit to see how much money has been made between the two locations. I would also like a refund for the meal that was purchased. I will no longer support a business that is unethical. Please follow up with a resolution. I look forward to hearing from you.

Food not cooked properly and no customer service help after complaining about it.I went to the Blue Plate Cafe on Poplar Avenue in Memphis, Tn. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at approximately 1:00pm. I was seated promptly and when the server came to my table I ordered Sweet Tea and the special - Baked Pork Chop with Macaroni and Cheese and Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. The food came out about 5-8 minutes later. The pork chop was so dry there was no juice in it at all. It had a leathery taste to it. I only had one bite of it. The macaroni and cheese was ok so I ate all of it. The mashed potatoes served were a dark color with gravy on top. I took one bite of those and it tasted awful. My server never came back to check on me except to give me my check, which was approximately $11.89. When I took my check up to the counter the lady asked me how everything was and I told her terrible. I explained to her how dry the pork chop was. There was another lady standing behind her that worked there, and when I made that statement she too said she had had customers complain about how dry the pork chop was. I then asked if that was the case why are they still serving it to customers, including me? I received no answer. This resturant closes at 2:00pm and the whole time I was eating with other customers, the servers were busy cleaning up quickly so I suppose they could leave on time. The lady that took my ticket apologized and said she does not have the authority to refund me that only the owner could do that. She stated that she knew I came in alot and was sorry for the bad experience. I asked her for the name of the owner and his number so I could contact him. She gave me his name but the phone number was that of the resturant. She said that he doesn't give them any other number but the resturant's. I have called 3 times to talk to him amd each time he is conviently not there. I had to pay for my meal. I will never eat at this resturant again!Desired SettlementI don't want any settlement from this place. I just want them put on report for knowingly trying to make people sick. I would like to be notified of the outcome of this please.
