Review: This dental office gave me a completely inaccurate estimate for treatment, and then required me to pay the full amount. I needed a small filling, and the dentist encouraged me to have my metal fillings in that area switched out for composites while they were numbing that region for the filling. This was not necessary, but because it was only going to cost $70.13 with my insurance, I decided to go through with it. When they provided me with the treatment plan (using my insurance information), I clarified with the billing employee before making the appointment for this treatment, and she instructed that $70.13 would be my portion. I had no reason to question their estimate, given they had all of my insurance information and then provided me exact numbers of what was covered. On the day of the filling, I checked out and paid the required $70.13. A few weeks later I received a bill for $524.99. I called the office for clarification, and they said the treatment plan was just an "estimate", and that I was required to pay the full amount. I sent a letter to the office explaining my frustration with their inaccurate estimate, and they responded with a bill that included a late fee, of $532.86. I paid this bill to avoid any further penalties knowing that the office had already rejected any assistance.Desired Settlement: I would like the $532.86 refunded from Blue Ridge Dental Arts, and I would like them to provide accurate estimates to their patients in the future, or do not provide estimates at all if they do not know what is exactly covered by the insurance companies.
