Blue Ridge Tire, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: I visited this shop on December 19th to get a wheel alignment and get new tires mounted on my 2012 Toyota Tacoma. I have after market 18in Dropstars DS645B wheels on my truck and had ordered the tires on-line to have mounted. About a hour after they started the owner came out to show me that they had snapped off a piece of the inner rim lug nut housing on 1 of my wheels while mounting the tire. I respect the fact that he told me and didnt hide it however they damaged the wheel and are liable for any damages. I had him write on the receipt that they damaged the wheel for future purpose. Upon further questioning he started to get controversial so I let it go for the time being. I called today to ask how they wanted to proceed in fixing / replacing the wheel and they said they dont feel it needs done and arent going to do anything. I have the piece they broke off and the receipt that the owner wrote down that they did break the piece off and what wheel.Desired Settlement: Blue Ridge Tire should either fix or replace the wheel. Considering the piece they broke is not really fixable they can either purchase me anew wheel or reimburse me and I will order a new wheel.

Response:

It is important to keep in mind this was a used set of wheels(with used tires mounted on them) that came to us, not a new set of wheels. The customer brought his own new set of tires to be installed on this used set of wheels. The very small sliver of metal that broke off is non-load bearing, and not a safety issue, this was explained to the customer at the time it happened. It's also hard for us to know for sure if that piece may have been weakened or damaged prior to us changing the wheels. Furthermore, the small area that broke is covered by the centercap, and is not even seen in the presentation of the wheels on the ground, so it's not a cosmetic issue. Therefore, for the reasons listed above, we would not be responsible to replace the wheel in this case. I have on my i-phone pictures of this damage which verify our position.Sincerely,Kenny HeishmanBlue Ridge Tire Inc[redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The simple fact of the matter is, my property should be returned to me in the same shape that it was given to them. He admitted and signed on the receipt that they damaged the wheel. I have already shown it to a Lawyer that is provided to us through my work and that is all that matters. They did not make the wheels and are not engineers or specialist so I am not going to take their word that it is not a safety issues either way. It does not matter where the piece broke off from or if it is a safety issue. All that matters is that they broke it. It is impossible that it happened before considering he brought me the piece and admitted they did it while taking the old tires off. Furthermore, the tires have nothing to do with my complaint. If they did not want to take the liability and responsibility they should have told me they did not want to take the risk and I would have went else where.

Regards,
