I am writing on behalf of Blue Water Taco Grill to address complaint #[redacted] on 2/3/16. I am very concerned and disappointed to hear that it’s felt that we intentionally over charge our guests. We always strive to provide good food in a fast and efficient way in a friendly environment with good...

value for the dollar. I do recognize that our menu is confusing, has many different prices for different types of meats and not all additional charges are posted or easily read. We built the menu to have basic items at a lower price that can be customized and added to so that our guests have it “their way”. Though we have over 10 toppers for our items that we offer at NO CHARGE there are a few that we must charge extra for because of their cost to us. These include, on some items but not all items, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and “extra” of some items. We try to inform our guests of these extra charges verbally and admittedly we are unsuccessful in communicating this to them consistently. We acknowledge that this has been a problem and have over the past 45 days developed a plan to hopefully eliminate the confusion. On 2/3/16 (on the date of the complaint) we posted a totally new menu format with new pricing. We do a menu price increase once a year that coincides with the increase of the Minimum Wage. The intent of the new format is this: - Make the menu easier to read. - Reduce the number of prices charged (all meats are charged at the same price except steak & seafood which has a $.50 surcharge). - Make it easier for the staff to charge the correct price. - Have any “extras” and “add ons” clearly posted for our guests to see. I can easily see that on the date of the complaint that with new prices, new menu format and a learning curve for my staff that both our customers and my staff may have been a bit confused. I myself was there to help our regular customers understand the layout. After a couple of days I had additional changes made to the menu to fine tune and eliminate common questions. In regard to the quality of service provided I believe there is always room for improvement. We regularly talk about how to interact with our guests. Our goal is to always provide fast, efficient and friendly service to every guest. During the Lunch hour when all our guests are in a hurry to have their lunch what is most easily dropped in our efforts to take orders, cook & assemble the food and cash people out is the “friendly” piece. It can be misconstrued that our “fast & efficient” is us being rude. We will continue our “conversation” with our staff of the importance of making each and every one of our guests feel welcomed. I certainly think that the new menu format will eliminate misunderstandings in the future. Our most sincere apologies for confusion and mistakes in the past. We continue to work at being good neighbors and to serve the First Hill Community. All my best, Peter C[redacted] Senior Director of Operations – Blue Water Taco Grill.
