BlueStar Dental Care Reviews (1)

Review: On 11/**/11 I went to Bluestar Dental for intensive dental work, which included [redacted] and [redacted]. I also applied for a credit card to have cosmetic work (Implants and [redacted] treatment). May *, 2013 my implants along with [redacted] and [redacted] was finally completed. I decided I didn't want the [redacted] because I am/was very disappointed and frustrated with BlueStar Dental Service. I felt like I was in the twilight zone, that's how horrible my experience has been with this companies service. 5/*/13, I asked for a copy of explanation of charges. Bluestar Dental gave me a letter stating that treatment was completed and included a complete [redacted] case, [redacted] and [redacted] and implant service. I told them this letter was unacceptable because I didn't have the [redacted] treatment. I told them I wanted a explanation of charges and my credit card updated to show a refund for the [redacted] treatment which I didn't receive. Bluestar change the story, now they telling me we didn't charge you for invisalign, we charge you for all the [redacted] and [redacted] because your insurance company didn't pay for all your work. I was never informed by Bluestar of the work my insurance wasn't going to pay. They said they were sending my x'rays out for approval and started the work. They didn't tell me what part the insurance company paid/or didn't pay. I should have been given the option to decide which work I wanted done. I would have made arrangements to pay out of pocket at a later date for some of the [redacted] and [redacted] to be worked on, if I have known which work my insurance would and would not cover. I would not have agreed to this arrangement if I was informed. I feel I was misinformed and misled. When I received my statement from my insurance company, I was in shock. Also, I want to make sure I wasn't charge double for the same work being done over and over again. The Dentist was having a hard time getting my [redacted] right. I had temp [redacted] in my mouth (both sides of my mouth) for over a year because the lab/dentist couldn't get them to fit properly. I kept going back and forth numerous times because the temp [redacted] kept falling out, the dentist would put the temps back in my mouth and send impressions to the lab over a period from November 2011 to May 2013 and dentist will tell me next time you come in they should be right. The next visit, guess what? the same same thing, she would remove the temps and try to put new impression in to no avail. Because temps kept falling out when I ate food, I had this big hole in my mouth, I also had the gap where the implants were going. I started having stomach problems because now I'm not digesting my food properly. I was afraid to go out and be around people when I ate because I was afraid of tooth falling out. I wanted to wake up from this nightmare. I asked the dentist, I hope I wasn't being charge for you doing the same work over and over again, her answer was no you're not being charge for this repeated work.Desired Settlement: I have called Bluestar Dentist on the phone and I have went to the office numerous times to inquire about and explanation of charges in writing. As of this date 7/*/2013 I still have not heard from Bluestar Dentist. I just want to make sure this company didn't charge my credit card for work I didn't have done and I want to make sure that they did not get paid twice from me and my union and I didn't get charged repeatedly for the same work. Thank you for any help you can give me on this matter. .

Response:

Dear [redacted]:

[redacted] has only paid for treatment that has been rendered. Her initial treatment plan (including [redacted]) was over $25,000. Her treatment plan was clearly explained to her, along with her payment options. She has paid $16,000 toward her treatment. She was not charged for any service more than once and was never charged for [redacted]. No extra charges or any payments by an insurance company were made or received for the same procedures. She has actually had more work done than she has paid for, and has an outstanding balance due to our office. We have sat down with her on several occasions, most recently on 6/**/13, to discuss her treatment plan, the work that was performed, the amount she has paid, and any payments made by her insurance company. There are still outstanding claims that have been submitted to her insurance company and any reimbursement will go directly to [redacted]; however, her insurance company is one year behind in processing claims. BlueStar Dental Care is not a party to the insurance contract between [redacted] and her insurance company. Claims are submitted to insurance for the patient as a courtesy; however, payment is due when treatment is rendered. A detailed statement of her account was mailed to her at the end of June. Additionally, it was gone over in detail with her in the office. If she did not receive the statement, or if she has any further questions, she should contact the office immediately. We want [redacted] to be happy and will do whatever possible to make sure she understands the charges to her account.

Response:

Dear [redacted]:

Enclosed per your request is another copy of your statement for your records. As you can see from the enclosed statement, your ledger shows an outstanding balance of $7,735 for work that has been completed, which we are going to write off as a courtesy because we truly value you as a patient. Treatment plans change during the course of treatment and yours was a complicated case. We ended up doing additional work for which you were not charged. We are still working to get you as many additional benefits as we can from your insurance company; however, DC37 is still suffering the effects of hurricane Sandy and is almost one year behind in processing claims. Our biller, [redacted], spent an entire day with them trying to get you the maximum benefits possible. We want you to be happy and will do whatever we can to make sure you understand your account. If you have any further questions or clinical concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
