manufactured in our plant through a five stage process, The part is for 36” drop in cooktop, model number [redacted], This model was redesigned and part number [redacted] is considered obsolete. The current model number is [redacted]. In an effort to update the appearance and increase productivity, we replaced part number [redacted] with a purchased cooktop lid, part number [redacted]. This part, as we explained to the customer, is stamped in China and shipped to our plant. At the time, our facility was located in Reading, PA. Operations ceased in Reading on December 30, 2015. Operation resumed in Blandon, PA the week of January 11, 2016, however our facility is still not fully operational. There are still several pieces of machinery that are not operational.
The customer ordered the replacement part for his cooktop after it was installed for approximately a year and one half. Every Blue Star product carries a one year manufacturer's warranty starting on the date of the installation of the unit. Due to the fact that warranty had expired, the customer was charged for the replacement. We made our first attempt to manufacture the part and it was not shipped due to a failed quality inspection. This created an extensive delay as we only possess the capacity to run obsolete parts one at a time per order. The part was shipped on February 12, 2016 via [redacted]. The estimated time of delivery is by end of day, Wednesday, February 24, 2016.
During a time when our resources are limited, we were unable to fill this order in the timeframe that was initially conveyed to the customer. However, the replacement part for this customer does not compromise the functionality of the unit. It is a cosmetic part and the customer could safely use their gas cooktop in the meantime.
We have expressed our sincere gratitude to the customer for the delay. Please contact me if there are any further questions.
