Lexia Study abroad scammed both me and a foreign educational institutionI signed up for a year-long undergraduate study-abroad program in Turkey through Lexia Study AbroadI made an initial deposit of a few hundred dollars to secure my place in this programI then arrived in the foreign country and found out that Lexia had not communicated at all with the foreign university (Bogazici University/BULLC) I was supposed to be studying at! I was able to get Lexia to remedy this and was able to get enrolled in the program abroad--however, after this point, Lexia was almost totally incommunicadoTheir employees one-by-one disappearedThe BULLC was unable to get any response from themLexia went completely silent at this pointThen, towards the end of the year abroad, I learned from one of the centers within the university that they had never received their money from LexiaI sent Lexia over $10,000--some of which they were legally obliged to forward to the foreign universityThey forwarded what they owed to one section of the university, but never paid their full balanceWhich resulted in the foreign university refusing to provide me with my academic transcripts! I did intensive year-long coursework and have no academic transcript to prove I did anything at all! How am I supposed to explain this to graduate programs when they ask me about this hole in my academic record? I worked hard, and I got totally screwedAnd so did the university abroadMy home university, which used to list them as a pre-approved outside program cut off tiesAnd the Turkish university has had no contact with Lexia sinceThe kicker is that their website is still active and the program in Turkey with this university is still listed on their site as activeThe copyright on their site has even been updatedNow though, the only employees listed are the head of the company and his wifeYou have been warned: this is a SCAM
