This company was awesome to work with. They were the only ones who had called me back and offered a military discount. They finished my fence in 2 days. They have great customer service!

Great work! Nice and friendly people to talk with in getting everything scheduled and work was done quick and with great quality and care!
Greatly appreciated them doing my fence job

We have had to
have some repair to our fence which was built by the previous owners of the fence company. Dixie Fence Company came out right away and gave us options for the repairs and costs for doing so. After choosing which option for the repairs the work was scheduled. They came out as promised and repaired the fence which was not an easy job. We could not be more pleased with their estimate, being on time for appointments, the repair work and overall experience.

Excellent work repairing my fence. Were there when they said they be there and finished the work even in the rain.

The installed a neighbor's fence and destroyed part of my yard in the process. Refuse to do anything about it. Dixie Fence installed a fence along my property for my neighbor. In doing so they had to come on my property to do the damage they did (I was not aware they would do that). They pretty much destroyed the back corner of my yard. I have contacted them about the damage and they basically refuse to make any concessions on what I will have to pay to get the damage repaired. Their salesman, who did come out to look at it said they would rather pay their men $500 than to pay me $200 for new wood. I only noticed the damage when I realized some of the landscape at that location was leaning over. The fence was installed the first of December and I took pictures Dec.22. The salesman came out and looked at the yard and said the existing barrier was beginning to rot and that they would not do anything. The manager said they would come out and put the rotted timbers back but that was all they would do. Nothing was said about filling in the gap with dirt to keep that end from eroding into the drainage ditch along the back of my property. I will have to get that entire corner replaced at the cost of $1,700. I had requested they pay me $200 for new lumber and they refuse. Their customer service is the worst and their attitude seems to be they are not responsible for the damage even though they had to come on my property to remove the existing barriers. I was ok with their paying me the $200 but it has now become a escalated issue. I am a 69 year old widow on a fixed income and I really don't appreciate how I am being treated and the cost that I will have to bear to fix THEIR damage.

Desired Outcome

I had originally said I would call it even if they would just pay $200 for some new treated lumber to replace what was there. They refuse. So now, after great consideration, I think they should pay the $1,700 I am going to have to spend to repair the damage.

Bluff City Fence Response • Feb 21, 2019

Dixie Fence prides itself on doing a great job for our clients and believes that "doing the right thing" is the cornerstone of running a successful business and maintaining a strong positive reputation. We understand the ***, next door neighbors to our actual client, has an issue with Dixie Fence. We regret that it has come this far and did have conversation with the *** once we were aware of the problem.

At issue is," Did the work that Dixie Fence do for our client damage the neighbor's property?" (The ***)
The work in question was completed by Dixie Fence in August of 2018 and we were made aware 01/07/19 for the first time of a potential issue.
Our client given the growth pattern of trees over the years on its property decided when rebuilding their new fence to move it further in on their property line and away from the *** property by several inches.

The *** have landscape timbers that previously butted up to the old fence and once the fence was rebuilt created a gap between the timbers and new fence.
This gap is the issue or stated differently, what the *** are referring to as damage.
Dixie Fence after researching the issue is comfortable that No damage was done, the new fence was properly constructed, was built inward and a gap created.
Given the above, the *** originally proposed to settle this for $200.00. We countered by offering to extend the timbers and add soil as a remedy.
Dixie Fence would agree to pay the original $200.00 offer, If the *** are comfortable signing a full release and non-disclosure agreement. We strive to be a good neighbor and corporate citizen. Having true regret this situation has occurred, we hope this offer is acceptable and will resolve the matter.

Customer Response • Feb 25, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I was not aware of the damage done to my property until I noticed some of the landscape in that area was leaning over. When I went to check was when I found what had been done. I totally understand the reason behind moving the fence over to get around some trees. However, the original timbers on my property had been removed and placed on top of the ground. This means the fence company had to trespass on to my property to do that. I was never informed that any of this had been done and would not have noticed it if the dirt that held the stake supporting the landscape had not either been removed or had fallen over due to no support making the landscape lean. I have pictures taken Dec 22 of the damage done. My neighbor came over and looked at it and said he would call the fence company but he had had difficulty getting them to complete the original job and doubted they would do anything. I have no idea if my neighbor called or not. I patiently waited for the fence company to call me and they never did. I left several messages for them to call and got no response. When I finally did get in touch with ***, evidently the main guy, he said he would come out and look at it. He sent a salesman, ***, out to look at it. *** finally called me and we discussed the situation. I offered to take $200 for new timbers and his statement to me was, and I quote, I know *** well enough that he would rather spend $500 to have it done that to pay me $200 for new timbers. We even discussed how ludicrous that was that *** would rather spend $500 than $200. According to their response they stated that they would come out, extend the timbers to the fence and fill in the dirt. That was NEVER presented to me as an option. Their statement in the response is the first time I have heard about that. When I finally actually talked to *** he said he would send his guys back to put the original timbers back where they were and that was all he would do. He finally said ok will you take the $200 for new timbers. I have been trying to get this resolved for over a month and feel like I have been ignored. Based on what *** had told me I said it was $200 but now, after all the hassle it is now $500 (the amount *** had said *** would probably rather do than pay me the original $200). *** said he wasn't doing that and I just said then I will be in touch. Looking at the corner it would be pretty obvious that it would erode without support. I was never informed of the moving of the original timbers or anything else. It will cost me $1,700 to repair that corner of my yard. With the frustration and turmoil that has ensued due to the fence company's poor customer service I think they should pay the entire $1,700. I felt I was being very generous at the beginning but now I feel like I am being railroaded. They talk about their pride in their customer service. Well if this is what they are proud of it is a crying shame. I have pictures of the corner and damage done and am more than happy to share them with you.
