BoaMaster Reviews (%countItem)

On July 26, 2019, I placed an Order for one item, a 4ft melamine tank that was urgently needed for a reptile that is currently housed in a cage that is insufficient for her needs. After 2 weeks of no response, I started inquiring as to status. I was given several excuses (i.e. personal home needing repairs, etc.) by owner Mark Vanhorst as to why the tank wasn't started, let alone shipped and I was promised immediate service the following week. Another week passed to no avail. I was insistent in reaching out to Boa Master and finally spoke with Mr. Vanhorst who promised that by the following week, August 19th, the cage would be complete and shipped. However, it fact it was not shipped. All inquiries via phone, text and email have subsequently gone unanswered. It has been well over a month since I placed my original order and no commitment has been made to provide the goods I have paid in advance for. My actions have been in good faith and reasonable. Mr. Vanhorst's actions border on that of fraud, breach of contract, intentional misrepresentation, and even petite larceny for not providing a refund. I would highly suggest Boa Master have its business practices reviewed.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

As per our phone conversation on Tuesday, September 17th 2019 @ 10:35am I am responding to your request for complaint ID. I did receive ordered item (4ft. - 48”x 24”x 19” Melamine Reptile Cage) on Monday, September 9th 2019 but was missing the required #6 1 5/8 Drywall Screws which should have been provided by BoaMaster. Overall, my experience with BoaMaster was disappointing and I will never purchase any future items from this company going forward.Thank you,***Dissatisfied Customer

customer recieved product as expected in good condition we dont ship screws w cages as it would do damage internally to the item

I ordered a Boa Master 8ftx3ftx30" reptile tank for over $800 and was promised that the tank would be shipped within a week when I purchased the item because I needed the tank ASAP for a rescued tegu in poor health. I was promised that the tank would be shipped within a week because otherwise I was going to order from another company who could actually ship and deliver within my time constraints. I was assured by *** via his personal email that it would be delivered within that time frame. Two weeks have gone by and I have emailed several times and *** has failed to respond and has not shipped my tank but has not refunded the over $800 I paid for the tank, which is not only fraudulent business practice but also amounts to larceny and unlawful conversion. I have given him ample time to respond and he has failed to communicate. This is a very unethical and sketchy business and I have read many online complaints regarding the same issue.

Despite Boa Master claiming that I have received the tank that I ordered, this statement is false. I was told on Monday after the business received the Revdex.com complaint that my tank would ship out the next day but they did not have one part I ordered so they would drop ship it to me. I then asked for a tracking number and shipping cost since they only ship COD... no response. I emailed again today asking for this info, again no response. The statement that I received my item is a blatant lie and I am still waiting for tracking info... if the tank was shipped I would receive tracking info. I would never recommend anyone do business with Boa Master.

I received the original tank last Thursday and refused the deliver due to extensive damage to the tank and very poor packaging with flimsy cardboard that was all torn up. The corners of the tank were broken off and there was extensive scratching/chipping all over the exposed wood. I sent photos of the damage to *** and he said he will ship me another tank when the first tank is returned back to him which should be today. He said he will send out a better protected/packaged tank that is perfect so I am waiting to receive that new tank to see if it is in acceptable condition.

We had ordered 4 custom built boa master tanks. We were told by the owner they would be better built and a better price than *** which every zoological facility uses. Our facility ***-Rescue is the only boutique exotic animal rescue in the nation. A non-profit that was very clear about our needs. He had forgotten and then said the only way he would do the job is if we paid full price in advanced. We had can celled the order from the company we had used based on speaking to him, now we had no choice. From the beginning we had problems with screws and sharp objects sticking out that would have caused injury to the animals. The tanks would not seal so they leak sand and substrate below into the tank underneath. The door are bowing, none of the door frames were secure. A 9' Red-tail Boa "escaped" into the Herp room because her door just came off. They ended up costing more than the *** brand tanks would have in the end. Each level is slowly collapsing. Dividers that we were said would work "perfectly" cannot be used at all. In fact a small tortoise knocked one over just by walking near it. Wheels to move the tanks have broken off and it now leans against a wall. It is VERY unsafe and we have to remove it. They are damaging the floor and wall in the reptile room on which it is now "leaning" into. But the amount of money we spent we have no way to replace them. I contacted the owner who swore by his work and he refused to repair or replace anything. Refuses to work with us under any circumstances because we were just trying to get justice. We began looking in the reptile forums and the link listed below is basically now what everyone says. He uses cheap materials and the tanks are worthless. We have tried for over a year to get any justice. A lawyer suggested we file a claim with Revdex.com before we have to pay him to seek justice.

the customers cages where installed as requested and there were very few small issueswhich I overlooked and she did as wellwhich 2 minutes of work would fix a couple of screws were sticking out simply backing them out would fix it and reapplying a little glue to the floorshe began threating me w slander and then again with other threats after 6 more months she wants me to come there and do repair work which I typically never go out to repair cages anywayplus I refused to work for for her after all the slander now she wants to slander me againand threaten a law suitethese cages are laser made to exact tolerancesand were delivered and installed and inspected before I left by customerwe use the same material as everyone else in the industry doessame acrylic same pvc board we just all have our own style of fastening them togetherand prices and manufacturing technology we use laser, waterjet and cnc routerbut I do have the right to refuse to work with someone if I choose to and I did .now shes madi always was respectful as I could be and tried to make everything right as best I could.10000 for 4 cages get realThank you, Mark Venhorstboamaster, llc.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. There is no offer. I contacted him immediately. The tanks were glued over and over, week after week. The screws had to be grounded down. All of the wheels have collapsed under the weight, the dividers have never worked. I have emails addressing this going back to the week after. The doors have to be repaired again. All of the plex is bowed. There are several others who have posted negative comments online. I have asked him over and over since the beginning to correct the tanks. I paid $4,085.00. They are not worth half that. The floor and walls have to be repaired that were damaged when the tank wheels collapsed and almost went through the wall.

BoaMaster Response • Apr 06, 2018

this is the first I have heard of the wheels for the record they are rated for 250lbs each so 1000 lbs capacitycages are 20 lbs each so stack of 3 is less than 100 lbs and as stated above these cages are light they cannot crush a wall .-even if you threw them at it . unless you filled them w a garden hose there could not possibly be enough water on your floor to cause damage to your floor from a small water bowland half of the cost of these cages was heating elements for the record :thermostats .lights and heat panels and part of it was delivery .the acrylic will only warp under extreme moisture conditions -ive made hundreds of these cages exactly the same and no problems 1/4 acrylic doors.these are reptile cages-not fish tanks-i will not be held responsible for mis use or whatever you have done to these.they are very simple in design and we use all the exact same materials as do all the other manufactures in this field epvc and 1/4 acrylic doorsand the dividers mentioned can be silconed in place or screwed in by the user: your choicethank you mark venhorst

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

There has never been any form of concern to complete repairs or any assistance. So yes, we have determined the purposed action is just to move forward legally. This is not the first you have heard of any of these problems. If you wish to go back and forth I will just retain a lawyer and file a claim. The tanks were used for their intended purpose. From the bottom: red-tail boa, Savannah monitor, small tortoise, green iguana, etc. I made it clear that as an animal rescue the dividers were to be utilized on a temporary basis. You stated they could be snapped in and taken out easily, a box turtle pushed them over. Every door is marked beyond repair. Every support area where dividers were to "pop in" are warped under the weight. The metal frames the casters were in ground through our tile floor. I sent pictures with our original complaint showing everything I have stated. This is cut and dry. We are not the first customer to state these facts. Upon research over several different reptile boards the complaints range, from minor to "never use this guys crap". I attached those to original complaint as well.
