Bob Ferrando World Reviews (1)

Review: I bought a car from Bob Ferrando Ford and was told by the salesperson that the vehicle had a safety inspection done it when I asked for it to be inspected. The sales was contingent with the car passing the safety inspection, I was not given a copy of that safety inspection until just recently. It shows that the car needed brake work and possibly a lot of it. The salesman verbally stated to me and my father that the car might need a emergency brake cable for the next inspection. My daughter drove the car only 350 miles before I took it to [redacted] for preinspection to see if it needed anything. I was told by [redacted]) that the brakes were in very poor condition, the rocker panels needed work and that the whole underneath of the car was ready to rot away. I called Ferrando Ford that day and was told to bring the car in so they could look at it. The very next day when I tried to move the car to take it back, it would not move. The transmission pan had rotted out and the fluid was all over the ground. I had it towed to Ferrandos for them to look at. When I called them they said I had a piece of junk. When I asked for my money back they said the only way to get it back was to trade it in on another vehicle. I have went there several times to look at other vehicles, I found another vehicle that I liked with a sales amount of $9500.00 on the window. After talking to [redacted] and trying to make a deal, he told me that they had to raise the price of the vehicle to $10995.00 to deal with me. Then when I asked for another vehicle to be inspected, I was told that they could not inspect it because it came from another dealer. When I said that I wanted it inspected before I bought it they refused. Next I called to find out that they had a Chevy HHr in the paper for $8500.00 and wanted me to trade with them for $7800.00 Plus the Escort that I had purchased from them for $3000.00 If I had been told the truth and been given the safety inspection report that was done on the Escort, I would haveDesired Settlement: I would like to be treated fairly since I bought from them in the first place. I am tired of them trying to take me again. They have the car since it was towed in and Mr. Ferrando himself said it was junk to them. It was junk when they sold it to me and when I asked for them to inspect it, I now know why the refused to. The sales paper the [redacted] had me sign said contingent of safety inspection. I have tried to get a fair deal from these people only to be shoved aside with their sales gimms

Response:

Mrs. [redacted] purchased the car from our dealership on December ~2013, in an As/Is condition.Enclosed are copies of the buyer’s order and buyer’s guide, both clearly describing the terms that thevehicle is being sold As/Is with no warranty, and both documents are signed by Mrs. [redacted]. Alsoenclosed is a copy of the safety inspection.Mrs. [redacted] took the car to a repair shop the following August, approximately 9 months later. Duringthat time she only drove the car 350 miles. Most of the time the car sat outside on an unpaved surface. When an older car sits on an unpaved surface for an extended period, and is not driven, many areas ofthe car can deteriorate. The transmission oil pan rusted out because of moisture underneath the panand inside the pan itself When a vehicle sits the water portion of transmission fluid sinks to thebottom, because it weighs more. When a car is driven the moisture evaporates when the car warms up.This is also true with the rest of the underside of the car rusting because of dampness. Had the carbeen driven, I don’t believe this would have occurred. We include a copy of car storage instructionsthat specifically supports this explanation. When Mrs. [redacted] contacted me in August I told her there was nothing I could do to repair the carbecause she purchased it As/Is. However, I did tell her that we would give her a good deal on anothervehicle. I never told her that we would give her back the money she paid for the Escort. If there are any further questions regarding this complaint, please do not hesitate to call me at ###-###-####

Response:

The vehicle was sold to me with the verbal statement made by Mr. [redacted] that all it might need was an emergency brake cable for inspection. I was never given the copy of the safety inspection until I went to the dealership and the office gave me a copy of it. I had spoken to the service department manager and he was the person who said there was notes more than it needed a emergency brake cable. Also, where is the sales order that says that the sale was contingent upon the car passing a safety inspection and why was I not given a copy of the safety inspection at the time. I WOULD HAVE NOT BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE KNOWING OF THE PROBLEMS STATED ON THE SAFETY INSPECTION.AS for sitting on cement, my driveway is limestone covered and the car was driven several times a week when I got home from work, teaching my daughter how to drive. The salesman, MR. [redacted] knew that this vehicle was for my daughter and I ASKED HIM TO RUN IT THROUGH PA INSPECTION which he refused but said he would have a safety inspection done on the vehicle with the contingent of me buying the car for her if it passed the safety inspection which I wasn't told the information on the condition of the car. I was told by Mr. Murphy that they would let me trade the car back into them and that I should have it towed to them after taking it to get it pre-inspected in July. At that pre-inspection I was told that it was in very bad shape with the brake system, the rocker panels and that the whole underneath was a rotted out mess. That was when I called FERRANDOS AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN TO THEM AND THEY WOULD CHECK IT OUT.I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE DIFFERENT TIMES AND CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES TO SEE IF THEY HAD A VEHICLE TO AT LEAST TRADE FOR AND GET SOME OF MY MONEY BACK AS THEY SOLD ME A VEHICLE WHICH WAS NOT SAFE TO BEGIN WITH. They kept trying to talk me into a newer vehicle with payment for a lengthy time and I said that is not what I wanted. The first vehicle that I found on their lot was marked with a $9500.00 price tag and after sitting with Mr [redacted] and making a deal to buy, he came back to say that he could not sell it to me at that price The price would have to go up to 10995.00 and when I asked for the vehicle to be inspected, I was told NO. I tried to deal with them as that is what they said they would do to make things right with me. They lied to me to begin with about the Escort and are trying to cover that up by saying the vehicle rotted in the seven months that we had it. They are not truthful in their dealings and I will seek compensation through the Attorney Generals Office and through my attorney.[redacted]
