Bob Huff Chevrolet Buick GMC, Inc. Reviews (2)

Review: On June 10, 2014 I purchased a 2005 Nissan Frontier from Bob Huff Automotive Group located at [redacted] Discussing sale of truck; sales rep said all fluids topped off. I asked if an inspection done & told truck was inspected in excellent condition. Once home I checked the fluids; added transmission & windshield fluid. I was told an extra set of keys, with keyless entry control, would be mailed. On 6/14 Sales Rep had mailed on 6/11. Checked 6/18 envelope had insufficient postage; received on 6/20. I was told only 1 previous; car fax said 2 . I downloaded 3 types of car info all indicated there had been NO significant work done to the truck. I was asked to sign a document saying I understood the manufacturers warranty expired due to age & mileage & I was accepting the truck as is for Manufacture Warranty reason only. 8 days after I drove truck home the check engine light came on. I took Nissan to mechanic who determined the transmission was going out. I immediately called Sales Rep; who confessed transmission had recently been replaced. I requested name & number of [redacted] of Wytheville who installed the transmission. Truck had a transmission replaced in 2012 rear end rebuilt in 2013. Thursday June 19 sales suggested I drive my Nissan, 189 miles back to Wytheville to be checked by Bob Huffs mechanic. I was told I would rcv more info 6/20, I have not.Desired Settlement: I would very much appreciate Bob Huff work with me to have transmission fixed at a local Nissan dealership. And to, at minimum, share the expense.

Response:

I have spoken with [redacted] (Sales Manager) on this matter and he stated that he offered Mr. [redacted] to bring the truck by so we can determine what the issue is. Mr. [redacted] declined.

Here are a couple of items that I would like to mention before we get to the current status.

We inspect every vehicle that we consider retail worthy. That includes, not limited to, state inspections, which is required by law. I would like to apologize for the inadequate amount t of postage that caused the key to be sent back to the dealership, however it was sent back out to the Mr. [redacted] and he received it. Regarding the previous owner statement, Mr. [redacted] knew it had 2 owner's because he saw the AutoCheck report, which states that it had 2 previous owners.

Yesterday [redacted] spoke with Mr. [redacted] and asked him to get an estimate to get the transmission fixed. We are now waiting to hear back from him.

Response:

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I did as Bob Huff asked, I took my truck to a Nissan dealer, who like the independent mechanic determined the transmission was failing within 15 minutes of the inspection. Nissan dealer faxed Bob Huff with an estimate of what it would cost. My truck gets worse by the day. On July 3 I came home from work and when I stepped on the brakes pulled into my driveway I heard a grinding sound. When I checked the left rear brake was worn so badly it was cutting in to the rotter. I also told Bob Huff Dealership about this. they offered me two options. One, they would come and get my truck, take it back to the dealership and fix it. Then they would bring it back. However, Nissan told me what they would do to fix the truck which included a new upgraded transmission, new upgraded radiator, all new fluids all labor and a year warranty on parts and labor. Bob Huff Dealership would not say how they would fix it. Why would I want someone who should have taken care of these problems before it was put on their lot to fix it now. Any reputable dealership would have done this to start with. Option 2. they would pay $1250 if the Nissan dealership does the work for the transmission. they would not pay for the brakes. Neither option is what I consider a fair resolution from a reputable dealership. And rather than accept their offer I would rather the American people know what can happen to them if they buy a vehicle from Bob Huff Dealership.

Regards,

Business

Response:

We indeed asked Mr. [redacted] to obtain an estimate. After receiving the information, we offered Mr. [redacted] to pick up his vehicle and to leave him with a vehicle so he would not be stranded, which would allow us to take care of the issue. He declined.

Since there is no resolution (on his part) we offered his desired Settlement, and I quote:" I would very much appreciate Bob Huff work with me to have transmission fixed at a local Nissan dealership. And to, at no minimum, share the expense". We offered $1250, he declined.

Frankly, we are at a loss. No business, or individual, likes bad publicity, especially when it's not warranted.

Either way, our offer still stands at this time.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I have noticed in Bob Huffs Dealerships response he has yet to put in writing what 'fix it' actually entails and whether there is a warranty involved. Although I no longer want Bob Huff Dealership to work on my Truck, after what he failed to find when he gave it his thorough inspection. I stated I would like for Bob Huff dealerships to "at minimum share the expense" not as he states at NO minimum and neither did I say anything about sharing expense equally. This is a problem he should have found and taken care of, NO excuses. Even though he feels his offer is fair it seems to save him a great deal of money by not fixing it before it was sold. Also if the average person were to bring in a truck to his dealership to have the transmission replaced the radiator replaced and all the fluids replaced plus labor and parts needed to connect, plus warranty, add to that bad rear brakes and rotors. What would they charge the average truck owner for his repairs? I would like to see that question answered in this dispute. I would very much like to send the Revdex.com a copy of the Virginia state inspection which Bob Huff dealership did along with photos of worn brakes and damaged rotors. If Bob Huff thinks his offer is FAIR then why is he concerned about bad publicity? He should not only be thrilled that this is being posted on the Revdex.com, but he he should copy and paste it to his own website under the caption 'this is how we treat our customers'. Just a note: that if Bob Huff Dealership thinks this is a fair offer, Webster defines fair as' free of dishonesty'.

To the Can I attach the Virginia State Inspection Bob Huff Dealerships gave me along with all the photos taken of the bad brake issue and later of Transmission and Radiator?

Regards,

Excellent Parts and Service Department Personnel (I have not purchased a vehicle at this dealership, yet). They have all been kind, honest and fair with us. I currently own 3 Chevrolet Vehicles. This dealership has been the best to deal with, and I have been to many across this nation from Alaska on down!
