In the many years of hiring contractors for home maintenance, I truly have never had this experience.

I have a settling issue which continually results in a door not shutting. Our past solution was to shave the door and patch the crack. After the third time doing this, the door cannot be shaved any further, unfortunately, the issue returned. In an effort to fix the issue from happening again, our builder came out and assured us that this was not a structural concern and explained what needed to be done to keep the problem from recurring, reset the split jamb, and offered a referral. The referral wanted to do something far more extensive and expensive, lifting the house. Having two extreme different answers and being new to the area, I googled handymen. When speaking to [redacted] on the phone; he seemed to understand the issue. However, the employee sent to my home explained the he wanted to shave the door, add some screws, and patch the crack. Other than the addition of the screws, his plan was to do what we have been doing. The screw addition was reasonable; but given the screws were the opposite side of the door's settling crack, I wanted to learn more. When I explained that the door could not be shaved again and that my goal was to fix the settling issue; he could not assure me that would not happen again.

Having 3 completely different assessments, I decided that we would wait to fix it until I learned more and I would call him back. [redacted] called immediately and when I simply explained that I understood that his employee could fix it that I was not sure that his method was exactly what I wanted. I needed to learn more about my specific situation. He became rude, said "We're done here!" and hung up. I am still unsure why someone wanting more information could be offensive. If one is confident about their solution; they would be supportive and say, "i look forwarding to hearing from you."

It is unfortunate that I cannot comfortably refer this company or use them for ongoing projects.. I have 3 additional families that I would have referred his business, provided I felt the work was satisfactory. Additionally, I am loyal to my contractors, a good customer, have always worked well with people, and pay in full and on time.

This incident prompted me to check Revdex.com and see if this is isolated. Given that someone else experienced this unprofessional reaction /rudeness. I felt I should take the time to share my experience.
