Bob Scott RV'S Reviews (%countItem)

I purchased a 2020 Rockwood Geo Pro 19BH and took ownership on 1/24/2020. We used this camper twice, once within 15 miles from our home and the other 180 miles round trip from our home. On 2/29/2020 I climbed underneath the camper and found that the two front bolts that secure the camper to the frame were not secured, the frame was bent where the bolts and been pounded down and no nut was attched, and the floorboard was damaged due to the bolts being off plum/pounded down into the frame. I contacted the sales department about this on 2/29 who stated it would be a service issue and they would call over to the department first thing Monday morning. I met at the service department on Monday morning and showed the issues and stated I was dropping the trailer off with the intent of having the situation remedied, as it was unsafe for a brand new trailer to be sent off the lot no secured, and there was both frame and box damage to the camper. I contacted the department later in the day to ask what steps would be taken to remedy, to which they stated ithey needed to work with the manufacturer, to which I stated that my issue was with the dealership, not the manufactures since I purchased it from them. I asked them for one of two courses of action...return my money spent for a brand new unit that was sold defective and unsafe, or replace it with a new unit that is both safe and not defective. I've reached out to the dealer both days since then, as well as Rockwood to get a contact for them to work with. Today I was informed I would have to be happy with a "simple repair" in which they remove part of the frame, weld in a new part, replace the bottom board across the bottom of the camper (the camper is built from the bottom up, so I have no idea how they plan to do this without dissaembling the camper, therefore causing the opportunity for multiple other issues from the same service technician team that allowed it to leave the lot not secured to the frame.

Bob Scott RV'S Response • Mar 09, 2020

Hi I have been in contact with *** and explained that the trailer was not unsafe as the other eight bolts had nuts on them and we will be replacing the nuts with flat washers lock washers and new nuts. The factory has authorized and is sending us a new front A frame that will unbolt and bolt the new one in place and we will replace the bolts so the trailer will be good as new. The only problem is they only want a new trailer or their money back which since this is a repairable item the factory/ Bob Scott RV'S will not do and as you know Co. does not have a lemon lawn these units but again it's fixable we are doing a temporary repair so the won't miss their trip this weekend.

Thank You

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

Bob Scott sold a travel trailer not secured to the frame at all points. In the points where a bolt exhisted and had a nut, it did not have a mechanism such as a lock washer to keep the nut in place and the trailer secure on the frame.

Initially, the repair offered was to simply bend the metal back and place locking washers and buts at all points of contact between the frame and trailer. (The fix applied to all other trailers on the lot). This means bending frame metals, and not addressing the bolt not being in proper placement or secured in the trailer any longer due to being jarred and bent, not to mention stripped.

The second repair offered was to cut out the metal cross member, weld in a new one, then cut holes in the fiberglass from the inside of the trailer walls to access the bolts and replace them properly. Re fiberglass the areas, and then properly secure all other bits and bolts.

After filing complaints and contacting the manufacturer, who was not aware of the dealership recommending this, I received a voice mail informing of replacing the a frame at the beginning of the trailer which would then no longer need a weld.

The dealer and the manufacturer don’t acknowledge cutting into the fiberglass in the response, and notate Colorado is not a lemon law state. There is a diminutive damaged in the value of the camper that is cut into with parts replaced when it was brand new with no previous owners.

While I do believe the dealership is attempting a satisfactory repair of the vehicle, I don’t feel there is response to value lost in an item purchased “new and unused”.

Regards,

Would NOT recommend this place to anyone. We paid almost $4,000 for services but not very good service at all and items missing.
1. Was told my inverter was bad and needed a new that would costs $850 for a 2,000 inverter. All I did was reset the GFI, guess that saved me $850
2. Was told 6v deep cycle batteries would not fit in place of my current 4x12v batteries I currently have. Strange I can't get smaller batteries to fit in the same place as my current 12v batteries.
3. Walk around inspection I find slide seals that need to be replaced and now find a water leak behind our second toilet.
4. We have 2 lounge chairs and a captains chair that are now missing
