Bob Smith Motors Reviews (3)

Review: I went to the auto showroom on July 15, 2013 to cancel an extended warranty on a vehicle I had recently traded at another dealer. I signed the paperwork and was told I would receive a refund. After a month with no refund I contacted the financial department and was told I would receive a refund the beginning of the next week which would have been the week of August 12, 2013. That date came and went and no refund so I called the financial department again on August 19, 2013 left 3 messages and finally called the company issuing the extended warranty where I was told that all the paperwork had been sent to Bob Smith Motors on July 25th 2013 and they were to issue me a check. I then finally received a call back from the financial department and he said a check was being sent out that day August 20, 2013. Aside from not receiving the refund check, I feel I am getting the runaround.Desired Settlement: The requested refund that is extremely past due.

Response:

Attached you will find the documentation regarding claim [redacted] for Bob

Smith Motors ([redacted]).

As you will notice the refund was sent out the 20th of August. We apologize

for not being prompt with the turnaround from the time we received the

refund from MasterTech.

Let me know if you need any other documentation.

Bob Smith Lincoln Mazda is the worst service department in Billings, MT. We had a new timing belt, water pump, and tune up done on our Mazda. After we drove 3500 miles and began experiencing problems just outside of Denver, CO, we took our Mazda to the local Mazda Dealership and was informed we needed a NEW timing belt and water pump. We presented the official repair receipt to Bob Smith in hope of a refund. The service department manager said there was no warranty on labor or parts and they would not do anything to help us, it was our problem. We later learned that Bob Smith does not use genuine Mazda parts as they claim, even though they charged us for them. Paid $1700.00 to a [redacted] Dealer for quality work and got less than half assed repairs. They have a take the money and run attitude. It is amazing they still have any business. Overall they are nothing but another lying and cheating car dealership. We will never do business there again and we do NOT recommend them to anyone!

Review: In March 2013, I purchased a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse from Bob Smith Motors in Billings, MT. I also purchased an extended warranty for $1950.00. On 9-5-13 I phoned them and talked to the salesperson to cancel the warranty contract. On 9-6-13 I spoke to the fiance manager to reiterate that I wanted to cancel the contract. On 9-9-13 the finance manager informed me that I would need to drive to Billings, 175 miles away, to sign the cancellation form in front of him and that it needed to be notarized. I insisted that he send me the form, I would get it notarized, and he agreed to send me the form. He promised me that the cancellation date would be 9-5-13.I did not receive the form.On 9-18-13 I sent a certified, return receipt letter again requesting that the contract be cancelled. I did not receive a response. On 10-7-13 I talked to the salesperson and explained that I still haven't received the cancellation form. On 10-9-13 the finance manager emailed me the cancellation form and not only did I not need to sign it in front of him but it did not need to be notarized. I immediately filled it out, emailed it back and he received it.On 11-6-13 I contacted the the company that issues the warranty contracts and they explained to me that the contract had been cancelled, effective 9-5-13, and that they sent a letter to Bob Smith Motors on 9-25-13 informing them that the contract had been cancelled. Bob Smith Motors was supposed to issue me a refund check of approximately $1450.00 and as of today, 11-7-13, they still have not issued the refund. Not only was the finance manager knowingly deceptive throughout this whole process, but they have prevented me from selling my car and I am paying unnecessary interest. I would not recommend having any business dealings with Bob Smith Motors in Billings, MT.Desired Settlement: I have filed a complaint with the Montana Attorney Generals Office. I just want people to know how poorly I was treated, that this experience has been extremely stressful for me, and that Bob Smith Motors has caused me financial hardship. Again, I would not recommend having any business dealings with Bob Smith Motors.

RE: OCP Complaint

14-1982 Dear [redacted]:

Upon

receiving the letter dated November 6, 2013 regarding the above complaint

toward our dealership, I took immediate action to seek resolution. On

11-14-2013,1 asked [redacted] to find the location of the refund in

question. He immediately called the service contract company ([redacted]

[redacted]).

The company referenced a check number and

date sent. [redacted] then asked our accounting office if they received the check for

Ms. [redacted]’s cancellation. They had not. [redacted] immediately called [redacted] to

notify them no check was received at our location. [redacted] of [redacted] stated the

check they initially sent would be cancelled, and another check would be

reissued on 11-20-2013. I suggested to [redacted] to have our local are

representative of [redacted], [redacted], contact Ms. [redacted] on behalf of his

company to apologize to Ms. [redacted] for the clerical error since we were the

ones being reported to the office of consumer protection. I am told Mr. [redacted]

all credibility with Ms. [redacted].
