In response to the complaint filedMr *** brought his boat into our shop with a problem with the lower unitIt was discovered that the gears were stripped, needing a new lower unitI called Mr *** and asked if he had run aground or hit a submerged object, which he indicated
that he hadI suggested he contact his insurance company and see if he had coverage for this type of incidentTurns out he had Nationwide Insurance and after sending pictures of the damage to the lower unit to Nationwide they approved the claimI gave our estimate to Mr *** to submit to nNationwide I never heard back from the adjuster, which is very unusual, because if there is a question regarding the work to be completed the insurance company normally calls me to discuss any issues they may haveThe next time I talked with Mr *** he informed me the claim was approved, but said the adjuster told him I was charging too much for the lower unitI asked for the adjuster's phone number to find out why they would tell a customer I was charging too much for a lower unitTo make a long story short after talking with the adjuster, I called her supervisor and eventually filed a complaint with the insurance commissioners officeAfter several weeks the insurance commissioners office informed me that I needed to file a written complaint, at this point in time I chose not to file the written complaint.I felt it was not worth the time it would takeThe whole issue was the insurance company gave Mr *** a price on an aftermarket lower unit, we quoted a price on another aftermarket lower unit that was $higher than the insurance company'sMy issue is when did the insurance companies decide what type of mark up are we permitted to haveIn order to save the relationship with the customer I sold him the Lower unit for the amount quoted by his insurance company, which gave me a 10% mark up, the industry standard is 30% on parts!! It is hard to believe Mr *** filed this complaint, he was out nothing, we were the ones that lost money on this insurance claimI work with numerous insurance companies and have for years, this is the first time I have ever had an issue with oneIf anyone needs to have a complaint filed against them with the Revdex.com it should have been Nationwide InsuranceThank you for the opportunity to respond to this complaint THANK YOU AND HAVE A GREAT DAY !! *** *** *** *** *** Bob's Marine Service, Inc*** * *** ***
