On Saturday December 10, the customer in question came in to the shop for a tire leaking air complaintUpon inspection of problem tire it was found to be leaking from the Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor (TPMS)Customer brought the vehicle back to the shop thinking that because we had recently
installed tires on the vehicle that the leak was from the installation process, but this was not the case, as we did not touch the TPMS during installationWe explained to the customer that the leak was coming from one of his Sensors and because we did not touch them during installation then it was not a warranty repair and the customer would have to pay to have it repairedHe agreed and went to the parts store to buy a grommet to fix the leakAfter dismounting the tire we attempted to remove the lock nut holding the valve which was an integral part of the TPMS, to no availThe sensor nut was removed and the only way to do so was with 1/inch impact ratchet, which is low torqueThe sensor was broke in the process but was unavoidable and upon further inspection the sensor was no good regardless as the threads had all been stripped off, making it a necessity for a new one regardlessWe explained this to the customer who became irate and started yelling and cussing and making a sceneWe gave him his money back and told him to leaveHe continued to yell and even made threatening remarks to myself and I was almost to the point of having to call authorities to come and remove him from the premisesThe customer soon there after left the shopThe TPMS was defective, if any shop had tried to remove it, they would have told him the same thingThreads often become rusted and when removed will come apart with the nutThe customer was asked to leave and because the way he handled himself in front of other customers we had to ask him to leaveWe were more then willing to work with him to resolve the issue but due to his belligerent state of mind we were unable to come to a solutionCustomer left disgruntled and chose to not have the issue resolved by usIt would seem to me that he only wants a free fix which is not going to happen, the original issue was not due to our original repair and because he believed that it was and then found out that it wasnt and he would have to pay to fix it, that is when the problems began
