ID # 12777021On Feb 09 2018 [redacted] her Volvo to me for help with her smog inspection. She also told me she was having financial hardship I told her I would help her on my own time so she would not have to pay shop rates she agreed. I took the car on a test drive to see if any codes came up...

that would prevent the car from passing the smog test. An Engine miss fired code came up the first thing I did was to remove the spark plugs to check their condition. The looked well used so I replaced them with new ones. I test drove the car again no codes came back. I took the car to the smog shop it passed and I got the smog cert. On my way back to pick up [redacted] it once again developed a miss fire when I got off  of the freeway, but it went away when I drove away from the stop light. I picked her up and let her drive so she could take me back to the shop. On the way back she asked me if I checked the coolant.I told her I had checked all of the fluids and toped them off including 1 QT of oil and 1/2 gal of coolant. We got half way back to the shop and the car started over heating. We pulled over and she told me If the coolant tank wasn't full it would over heat. She told me she had to put coolant in it whenever she drove it since she had the heater core replaced 1 month earlier. She had several containers of coolant water in the back of the car. I think the car over heated when the heater core went bad and lost its coolant. This model Volvo has a problem with faulty heater cores. The head Gasket was already an issue before I got the car and got worse as I drove it. I don't  feel it was 100% my fault it just happened while it was in my care. It would have happened either way as you drove the car. I told her I would help her with the repairs. , But I cannot be held responsible for the full cost of the repairs. Thank You [redacted]
