Bob's Quality Tires Reviews (1)

Review: Requested Bob's tires to remove and install used tires. During installation, the paint of the wheel was severely damaged due to improper install.

On Sunday 5/12/2013 at 12:30 PM I brought my three wheels, Apex ARC-8 18x9.5 Et22 Hyper Black, into Bob's Quality Tire located at 7808 Fair Oaks Boulevard Carmichael, CA 95808 to remove tires with low to no tread from two of the three wheels and to install fresh tires on three of the three wheels. During the removal of the tires from two wheels I witnessed the technician performing the work apply a crowbar to the side and face of each wheel to separate the tire from the wheel itself, completely scratching and removing the paint entirely from one wheel. The other wheel having the tire removed had the surface of the wheels scratched, but paint not completely removed. The third wheel I had brought to them for just tire installation had received no damage, because the technician wasn't required to remove a tire due to no tire currently installed on the wheel and was required to only install a tire. I immediately pointed out the damages to the technician and he claimed the damage to my wheels was due to them being old wheel and that he, and the shop, wasn't responsible for repair or replacement. I documented the damage on the invoice, took several pictures of all the damage on each wheel while it was still in their shop, and asked for the contact information of someone who can authorize a replacement or repair. Monday 5/13/2013 I contacted [redacted] at Bob's Quality Tires for instructions on how to have the damages rectified; [redacted] told me to come in to look at the wheel. Wednesday 5/15/2013 at 01:00 PM I went to Bob's Quality Tire located at 7808 Fair Oaks Boulevard Carmichael, CA 95808 to meet with [redacted]. [redacted] told me the damages were due to a harder tire being installed, told me my wheel was eight years old and that they aren't responsible for damages, then he told me what I witnessed the technician due was incorrect and implied that I was simply lying. However, he did not deny the damage happened in their shop by their technician and was willing to simply repair the wheel by a vendor of their choice. I requested to have [redacted], owner of [redacted] Alloy and Wheel Repair, that I know and trust to correctly repair and match the paint to the other three wheels installed on the vehicle to which he said okay and had me get a quote over the phone. The quote I received was $225 for complete repair of the wheel which includes fixing the damage surfaces and repainting the entire wheel to match the other three wheels on the vehicle. I then contacted the vendor that Bob's Quality Tires wanted to have repair the wheel, ** owner of [redacted] Wheel, sent him pictures of my wheel and asked him what he would also charge to repair the wheel and he told me $225 dollars. Bob's Quality Tire told me that they would only honor $175 of the repair and that I would have to pay the rest. I was then told by [redacted] that Bob, the owner, would contact me and we could figure out a course of action. I waited two days for a call back and Bob hasn't called me. I called Bob's Quality Tire on Friday 5/17/2013 and talked to [redacted] for the last time. [redacted] told me they will not pay anything over $175 or they could have their vendor repair the wheel to their standards, not guaranteeing quality or craftsmanship. The damaged wheel, Apex ARC-8 18x9.5 ET22 Hyper Black, was in fact not an old wheel and was actually purchased 2/5/2013 From Aftermarket Performance Express, www.apexraceparts.com, Invoice# 6546756. The damage to the wheel was due to proper removal of the tire from the technician and nothing else. I can provide pictures of all damage to the wheel, call logs, and invoices for the wheel in question.Desired Settlement: I would like a replacement wheel to be provided or the full cost of the wheel including shipping to be provided to me so I can purchase a replacement. The wheel is not even three months old and it will never retain its resale value being repaired and repainted. I would like the fees for the removal and installation of the tire from said wheel to be refunded to me due to negligence and improper removal and installation.

In the event a new wheel isn't justified, I request a full repair for $225 from the vendor of my choosing to guarantee craftsmanship and quality, in addition to properly matching the paint of the other three wheels to retain as much resale value as possible. I also request the fees for the removal and installation of the tire from said wheel to be refunded to me due to negligence and improper removal and installation. In the event that my wheel is supplied to a vendor for repair, I request for Bob's Quality Tires to supply a rental vehicle, or reimburse me for any rental expense, while my vehicle cannot be driven due to a wheel missing from the vehicle for repair.
