Boca Raton Resort and Club

With respect to confirmation # XXXXXXXXXX I subsequently found that Hilton's Boca Raton Resort & Club (BRR&C) charged me a room rate 40% higher than the one they had confirmed. In fairness, it became immediately apparent, once I got to the room that it was not the standard king I had booked over the web. However, I often find in my business travels that I will be provided a complementary upgrade either because the hotel no longer had any of the lower-priced rooms available or with the hopes of generating future goodwill. In this case, however, it was not expressly brought to my attention that I was being provided a larger room than confirmed and that I would be billed the higher rate (although that may have been included in the registration form I signed at check-in, I was too tired to read it and there were no explicit verbal communications to state that what I was about to receive was not what I had previously agreed to). At no time in the process did I initiate a request for any room different than the one that had already been confirmed.

When I discovered the difference (billed to my credit card), it took several requests before BRR&C would even provide me with a copy of the invoice. Once that had been received, I filed an enquiry and was told that the BRR&C Accounting Office would contact me within 24 hours. But that was now two weeks ago and there have been no attempts to contact me.

So, what travelers need to be wary of is that the BRR&C is involuntarily 'up-selling' its services without expressly making guests aware of the additional fees.

absolute terrible checkout, and billing procedure of any hotel I have ever stayed in, in my life!! They could not figure out how to split a bill 4 ways with 2 people staying one extra night. double billed one card, charged, then removed charges from another card. And then 6 weeks later, without authorization ended up charging more to peoples credit cards....WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION!!! I am horrified they think that is even legal. I will never stay there again, even if my event is there or I will pay cash, to avoid their incompetence.
