I would like to begin by sharing with you a common problem that our industry faces which is the early te.unination of health club membershipsThis is the leading cause of customer complaints and in this
case it was clear from the very beginning that Mr*** was trying to get out of his contract
Let me address the consumer's original complaintWe have a member who attends our morning boot camp class and brings her small dogThe dog is leashed and tied up outside the front of the gymDuring our boot camp class it is common during the warm up for members to do several rounds of short plyornetric moves inside the fitness studio followed up by outdoor meter runs around the block_ The boot camp member would =leash her dog and have him run with her each roundOn a few occasions the dog would follow her back into the fitness studio and sit while she completed her warm up exercises before heading out for another round of the meter runI advised our trainer that our policy does not allow animals inside the club and to make sure the member understood this Mr*** complained to my wife and business partner about the dog and stated he saw the member allow the dog to drink out of the drinking fountainAccording to ray wife she advised Mr*** that she would discuss the matter with me and get back to himAware of the complaint I personally spoke with the member and explained that under no circumstances are animals allowed in the clubI advised my wife that while this is not a valid cause for cancellation per our agreement we would exercise our option and approve an early terminationwhich per the agreement signed by Mr***, is solely at our discretionI spoke with Mr*** and explained that we would approve an early termination and per the agreement be would need to pay 50% of his remaining commitmentHe wasn't happy with my decision and turned us into the Revdex.comHe wanted out of his commitment without any early penalty which is contrary to what he agreed uponAs I shared with you at the beginning of my response, this is issue we constantly face
To summarize, there was an issue in our club that Mr*** complained aboutWe addressed the issue and prevented it from happening in the future, yet that was not satisfactory to Mr***Be asked to cancel his membership, which at our discretion we approved per the terms of our agreement, and once again this was not satisfactory for Mr***The only way to make Mr*** happy would be to violate the terms of our agreement which would set a dangerous precedent for future member cancellation issuesThank you for allowing us to explain the situation from our perspective_
