Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:Obviously Alastair continues to provide *** *** with fiction My husband was diagnosed with dementia several years ago, I would not give him information that I know he would forget in a short time My husband did not call to confirm paints, if he was asked, he would have told Allastair to call me Also, he has always been color blind and would not know red from green let alone shades of white Alastair complained about the paint not sticking, so I purchased a new gallon of glossy paint thinking this might work better for him Both the original paint and the glossy paint are white, though not the exact shade because I could not recall the exact name when I went to purchase another gallon Please note, the reason I wanted the doors painted in the first place is because they were a cream color and I wanted white No other insinuation is warranted. My understanding was that all the doors were to be re-painted There are no sections that could have been salvaged The assumption that sections could have been repainted proves to me that *** *** does not realize the severity of the holes of paint and the gaps created by the paint that did not stick Please see attached jpeg. I have gone back and forth several times explaining the problem, by phone and in writingI have all the emails that have been sent and received from me to various employees of CMA and to me from them. The problem could be resolved quickly if *** *** or her representative would come to my house and view the evidence first handI have the doors with all their faults and un-sanded parts, as well as both paints as proof of my veracity. I live about miles away from CMA offices. *** ***'s backing of her employee may be admirable but it is neither just nor ethical to back lies I know she is not aware of Alastair's fudging; and it is not unusual to take the word of someone you know rather than a stranger's Rest assured I have imparted only the truth ** ***'s bias to believe Alastair is because of familiarity not veracity I would like to ask *** *** what she thinks about Alastair's judgement; why didn't he stop painting when he encountered the problem with the first door? He went ahead painting five unusable doors that caused a headache for everyone involved I understand *** *** is adamant about not replacing the doors Fine! I will accept to have *** come back out and scrape the leftover paint and sand the rough surfaces
Regards,
*** ***

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear on the painting the 2nd time. Alastair agreed to go back out after the first painting and address the areas on the doors where the paint didn't appear to be adhering However, since the paint that was given to him by the husband, after the husband called his wife, to confirm which he should use, and a test spot was ***e and neither the gallon nor the quart size cans matched, Alastair left without repainting the areas in question. The paint in both the gallon and quart cans were different colors and sheens than what was used on the first day. This is not CMA's issue, if the customer can not provide the appropriate paint, nothing that we did would be right. The original request was to paint only one side of doors and both sides of one other. That is what was ***e in addition to installing missing trim and painting vanity cabinets. Since the 2nd day resulted in not completing the re-painting in the areas that were concerns, this customer is right, the doors were not repainted as Alastair left since there was a discrepancy in the paint. It made no sense to use the paint that was provided since it didn't match what was on the doors from the first day of painting. The side of the doors which were painted were sanded again (and they were sanded on the first visit) and left without paint after *** revisited the residence to complete the sanding of the paint was applied by Alastair. This was after the customer stated she no longer wanted Alastair to come to her home. The doors are currently in a condition that would allow another vendor to paint as they are sanded and prepped for someone else to paint, as was the agreement with the customer by *** *** and was also agree that the customer would not be charged for any of the work. As stated previously, I have no intention of replacing the doors. CMA has attempted different times to make this customer happy to no avail. I consider this matter closed as I have responded twice and nothing has changed other than clarifying the painting on the 2nd visit. I have no intentions of replacing the doors. CMA has *** everything we intend to do in this matter. Repectfully,Lu Fonteno

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:From the messages I received, it is obvious that *** *** was not provided with truthful information. Here are the facts:The doors were never sanded on the initial visit as is evident in the gloss that is still visible on the doors - even after many hours of scrapingWhen *** came to remove the paint, he mostly used a scraper so the paint peeled off in strips Where the paint did stick, he sanded it and consequently those area are dullThe doors are still in the condition *** left them and they are available for inspectionPerhaps seeing them would resolve any doubt as to their current condition. Apparently *** *** was misinformedThe doors were never painted a second time And the paint was not a different colorAlastair used the wrong paint He used a quart of paint which was on my kitchen counter rather than the gallon in the bathroom where the job was to take place, and where he found the paint on his initial visit. I find it disingenuous that he conveniently forgot that fact even after I talked to him about his mix upHis claim that my husband confirmed the paint is incorrectThis mishap could have been averted had he arrived on time at 9:as he promisedI would have been home to superviseI called him at 9:30, he said he is on his way I reminded him that I had to leave for a 9:appointment and told him that my husband would open the door for him The paint that was used is a good quality paint which I used before on several other similar doors - in quality, material and color - in my houseI never had a problem painting themThe paint is BEHR premium plus interior paint and primer in oneIt has a rating of out of stars by reviewsI never inspected the doors prior to ***'s departure because I had company As *** carried the doors in he apologized to me and my guests for "disrupting your party" I am sure he would remember thatAlastair's account and claims are fraught with misinformation and are mean spirited They are too many to tackle But one issue is glaring and ought to be asked Since the paint was not sticking, why did he go ahead and paint the five doors? I am attaching pictures of the doors post ***'s scraping and sanding, including one area where I am peeling some of the leftover paint.*** ***

I have attached two (2) documents outlining the timeline
and work that was done for [redacted]. Please be advised that Certified
Management of Austin (CMA) has no intentions of replacing the said doors. The doors were sanded on the initial visit and the paint
applied. The paint was provided by...

[redacted]. If the paint was not sticking
to the doors, it was not due to CMA's staff member's painting, but due to the
paint that was supplied. In an attempt to satisfy [redacted], a return visit
was made to re-sand the doors to remove fix the areas in question. (The
original paint was sanded off on the first visit). This visit resulted in [redacted]
[redacted] providing a different type of paint as well as a different color which
resulted in time spent re-sanding the entire door since sanding areas that were
a problem and repainting would not work since [redacted] purchased different
paint. As stated the doors were re-sanded, repainted using the
new different paint and re- hung. After this visit, [redacted] informed CMA
that the doors still were not to her satisfaction. We agreed to one further
visit, to sand the doors again, so that "her professional painter"
could paint the doors for her. The doors were NOT damaged, with the sanding and
painting that was done and re-done by CMA. [redacted] stated a number of
times "they (the doors) were trashy builder doors," (which we took to
mean a poor quality).[redacted]
[redacted] was not charged for any of the work that was done by CMA, even though
the doors were her only issue. [redacted] stating she wanted the doors back
to the original paint or replaced is ridiculous, as the original paint was
sanded off for the application of the paint she supplied, both times.I believe the
documentation shows the CMA has gone over and beyond trying to make a customer
satisfied only to realize there would be no way to make this customer happy.
There is no need for the replacement of the doors as the light sanding and
painting that was done was not inferior. CMA left the doors sanded and ready
for "her professional painter," at a significant cost/ time to CMA,
as [redacted] has not been charged.Respectfully,[redacted]Certified Management of Austin
