Review: On 9/19/2013 I bought a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan from [redacted] Auto, VIN ID[redacted], with 79,950 mi. I told [redacted] that it needed bushings & shocks. He told me his mechanic was working on it, and that the minivan had a warranty. On Fri. I returned to [redacted] and told [redacted] that the car was making loud noises when turning the wheel around a bend. I told him I wanted a refund. He said co. stood behind cars. He had mechanic replace a small rubber bushing w/o replacing sway bar links, bushings, alignment, & shocks. On Sat., Sept. 21, 2013 I talked to chuck [redacted] again and told him there were other problems with the van; noise from the water pump, shocks, sway bar links, bushings, alignment, & noise from the right rear side & air bag lit. One employee said noise was not from water pump, it was fuel injection system, and that I should go to Rotolos for repair. I am not going to Rotolos. chuck told me he could not issue a check because the 2001 Dodge Caravan I traded was taken to auto auction & sold and that there was sales tax involved. The 2006 dodge Caravan has continuous problems that were not corrected. I am unwilling to pay for repairs. I want a full refund check of $5,850 immediately.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund check of $5,850 issued to me immediately. [redacted] gave me a run around, refused to correct the issues stated, and refuses to give a refund. They told me they would see me in court.

Response:
I am in receipt of your letter and I have read the complaint from the customer. First of
all, I totally disagree with her letter and I’m sure that’s what the Revdex.com would have
expected from our company. When said customer came back to our dealership and
complained about some issues she was having with here van, our Finance Manager
informed her that Mr. [redacted] was out of town for a long weekend and that he was
returning on Monday. He told her that all her concerns would be dealt with and that her
vehicle was under warranty and it would not cost her any pocket expense to have the
repairs completed if they were actually needed. He also told her that it was not our policy
to refund a customer for a vehicle because they changed her mind. Please keep in mind
that we had two customers on this same van and because we elected to sell it to her we
would have lost both sales if we returned her money. Both of these customers bought
elsewhere when we informed them this van was sold.
I also met the said customer’s price which we didn’t have to do but she was older and my
sales staff felt sorry for her. They over estimated the trade and actually gave her an over
allowance. Her trade in was sold at an auto auction on Friday, September 19,2013 and
we eventually took a loss but once again that’s water over the dam as far as we were
concerned.
I sent this customer a letter letting her know that I would take care of any of her concerns
and it would cost her no money. She did respond and made an appointment and as of this
letter her concerns have been met. I get so frustrated having to write these responses
from customers who just don’t pay attention to what they were told. I am a very busy
individual who is on the road 6 days of the week and spend 14-18 hours every day
working for this store to try and make ends meet.
I was just told by one of our certified mechanics that he put sway bar links & bushings, a
water pump and re-did the alignment on this 2006 Dodge Caravan even though it did not
need it. Every item passed the PA State Inspection but in order to appease this customer
our service department changed these parts as part of a “goodwill gesture” for her. I hope
this letter serves as a response that the Revdex.com was looking for. After 55 years of doing
business selling & servicing all types of cars and trucks this is one of the first times we
ever had to deal with something like this.
Thank you for your concern.....

The 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan was inspected by other mechanics. Other mechanics verified that it needed water pump, sway bar links, bushings, and an EGR position sensor valve. (also shocks) This was diagnostically verified and checked because the check engine light was on. Mr. [redacted] screamed at me and said, "nothing is wrong with the minivan because he drove it." When I arrived & was handing him the keys on Sept. 23, he said, "don't leave the van here because you don't have a way home." When I brought the van in on another day for them to check, Mr. [redacted] came in and told me that it did not need a water pump. His assistant, Cindy, later came in to tell me after they checked the serpentine tensioner pulley, it did indeed need a water pump. I waited in their waiting room for 5 hours. The minivan was put on a diagnostic machine by another mechanic to test it because the check engine light was on. It indicated that the PO406 EGR position sensor was high. [redacted] mechanics first told me that it might be dirt. When the light came on the next day again, I called them and they took it in and replaced the EGR valve. [redacted] did not charge for their services. The minivan may need further repairs.
