Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2016/05/06) */
I, Luc B[redacted]t with Boisvert Drywall did a basement renovation for [redacted] which was completed April 18th, 2016.
The work that was agreed upon and paid for by [redacted] regarding her basement renovations were exceeded and completed...

by my standard. With my 30+ years experience I was satisfied with my work. [redacted]'s expectations went above and beyond what was previously agreed on. She could not make final decisions and she began constantly changing her mind and requests while the job was already in progress.
Thank You,
Luc B[redacted]
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2016/05/10) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
These are the reasons that B[redacted]'s response is absurd:
I called him to do the drywalling, as well as ceiling texturing, and while he was there he asked if he could also have the painting contract. I read him the quote that I had for the painting and he agreed that he could do the job for a better price for priming and painting two coats of paint just like the quote that I had read him.
The work to be done included the entire basement including the lower front stairwell and the lower back stairwell.
The only thing that he did in the lower back stairwell was put up one piece of bead [redacted] That bead has to be removed and replaced properly. In addition, the remainder of the corner bead has to be installed; the taping and mudding has to be done; sanding, priming and two coats of paint and the ceiling texturing will complete the work in the lower back stairwell.
In the front lower stairwell [redacted] only did some taping and mudding and failed to sand properly. He sprayed primer all over the walls before they were properly prepared. [redacted] After the walls were properly prepared to industry standards [redacted], the priming and painting were completed. The ceiling still requires texturing.
[redacted] 90% of all joints still show and were NOT filled to the industry standard. The other glaring rookie mistake is the huge amount of pinholes in the mudding compound on every single wall. The ceiling joints are so bad that the texturing has to be scraped off so that the joints can be prepared properly ([redacted]
When [redacted] textured the ceiling, he put plastic up on the walls with staples and tape. When he took the plastic down, it ripped off all the paint off right down to the wall board. Every single wall had to be filled, along the top, with drywall compound then primed and painted. It was a horrible mess.
The lack of sanding after the primer was sprayed created a horrible rough surface that he sprayed paint over. The hours and hours of work to sand all of the walls that had paint over that rough mess cost just over $900 alone.
boisvert refused to paint the closets, mechanical room and under stairs.
Another disturbing problem is the fact that he sprayed paint all over my brand new acrylic bathtub, my new washer and dryer, my deepfreeze and the brand new fireplace.
He refused to paint a second coat of paint which I now know is also not to industry standard.

Final Consumer Response /* (3000, 10, 2016/05/12) */
[redacted] When Luc B[redacted] came to my home, we went over everything and I told him, right up front, that I was comparing all of the quotes and that they all had the exact same criteria. He pleaded to have the job because he'd been without work for months and I felt so sorry for him because I too had been out of work for more than a year. We went over the written quotes that I had and he assured me that he could do the work for about 12% less that the average of the quotes. He told me that he also does painting and asked if I'd secured a painting contractor. I told him that I was pretty sure of who I was going to use and pleaded for the painting work as well. We went over the terms of the painting quote that I had and he said that he could do it for almost 15% less than what was on the quote. Because I hadn't worked for more than a year, I decided to give him both jobs because my own budget had been blown out of the water by electrical over-runs and I need to save where I can. He gave me the same pitch that he has given in his response... That he has over 30 years experience and is efficient and exceptional at his trade.
The problems started almost immediately. First, he started complaining the second day that he was doing the job for nothing and he stated that multiple times each time that he came to the house. Then, within the first four days, he was asking for money. It was agreed at the onset that I would provide materials. [redacted] He blew a cork when I pointed out flaws that were glaring to the eye and said he would fix them up but never did and then he just painted right over them. When he started painting, he asked if I was going to help... [redacted] Then he outright refused to do the crawl space under the stairs and storage room as well as the mechanical room. I had to pay another man to do that while he was still there. I had to leave for a day to pick up flooring and found out when I got back that he had asked that same man to scrape the floor and do other things that were a part of his job. [redacted]
