Bold Associates

Review: Bold was to repair chimney stucco and inspect top of chimney for missing mortar/loose bricks and make needed repairs. I was told the top of the chimney was inspected and there were no issues. Chimney was repaired and painted in Aug/Sep 2012. At time of the chimney repairs, I did not go up on my upper roof to personally inspect at close range the work. From the yard, the chimney looked good as it was painted. In Dec 2012, I contacted [redacted] of Bold (the owner I believe) to inform her that I was up on my roof and noted some of the old stucco seemed spongey and should have been repaired. I also noted that there were cracks and gaps in mortar on top of chimney. Through a series of emails between Jan 2013 and July 2013, [redacted] indicated she would come out to address the issues. Since July 2, 2013, [redacted] has been non-responsive to emails and voice mails. I also tried contacting [redacted] who was the salesperson from Bold and he has been non-responsive. The contract includes a 10-year warranty.Desired Settlement: I would like Bold to either (a) provide a partial refund of the contract price or (b) eturn and finish the repairs, which will require appropriate filling of cracks/gaps in mortar around bricks at top of chimney, repairing soft/spongy stucco, and painting the chimney (either painting portions repaired if color matches or re-paint entire chimney if it does not look good). I have not solicited costs from other contractors to come finish the chimney work, but I assume it would be in the neighborhood of $500 to $1,000. At this point I would be willing to accept a $650 check.
