Complaint16 items broken during move and failing to fix the items and some have dirty water damage which can result in a health hazard due to mold.Moving from Braintree to Clinton Ma and had a gap of 12 days before our new home would be move in ready. I got 3 quotes from two large reputable companies who quoted me at $3000 each and [redacted] & Sargent who quoted me at $1400. I knew that had to be low balling me but even if it was $500 it would have saved me money. The move out went OK but just he move out with the storage was almost $1500, which is equal to the other companies. When the furniture arrived as soon as the truck was open the moving guy asked me to come outside and look at something. My brand new $5000 mattress was black and wet. Then followed was my dirty box springs and following 16 other damaged items. Even after that the guy wanted to preauthorize $1000 on my card so agreed to get the moving going. In the end, I had a torn couch, damaged china cabinet (glass and wood), broken leg off book shelf, two broken end tables, soiled mattress and box springs, broken lights, broken grill(just put together before move), 4 damaged dining room chairs, boxes which are not found...the movers that were at my house were even embarrassed and upset because they know the only way to work is to get new business. At the end of the day they had the nerve to tell me there is still a couple hundred dollar I will owe them on top of that which makes a grand total of almost $2800. I did not transfer the $289 into my account for them to pull to hold until everything was either fixed or replaced. If is now 9 days later and someone finally came that I was told was going to fix everything. He only handles wood, which I have to say he did a great job but its obvious that it was fixed. He doesn't fix glass, he doesn't clean mattresses or any material, he does not fix leather. In the end I got a call after he was there all day from [redacted] explaining that they will not fix anymore stuff until they get there money. I am now left with a soiled mattress, box springs, broken glass shelf for china cabinet, ripped couch which they just used furniture paint on, broken end tables, broken lights, broken bbq grill....may I also add that all of this was purchased within the last four months and most a few weeks before the move. This is not cheap quality furniture, cheap or previously damaged. It was all new expensive items. Finally the owner said "you should have read your contract and known your only insured for $.60 a lb." That is a sign of how professional they are that it made him feel good to tell me I should have read my contract and he can get over on me for that reason. This is not a warning because after reading this you should understand that I was swindled to believe I was saving money but in the end I paid practically the same but now is costing me a lot more with my out of pocket cost to fix, replace and time of my day to deal with this.Desired SettlementI want all items fixed as they were given to them and if that is not possible then replaced. Why should I suffer with a item that is refurbished with clear fix marks when I paid my hard earned money for the item then my hard earned money to have a mover move my stuff without damaging them. The contract was them moving my stuff safely without damage and they did not hold up to their end of the contract.Business Response THIS CLAIM IS FALSE, MR [redacted] IS TRYING TO GET OUT FROM PAYING THE COST OF HIS MOVE, NEVER COMPLAIN ONCE DURING THE MOVE TILL IT WAS TIME TO PAY INVOICE. HE REFUSE TO PAY FOR BOXING OF MATTRES AND GLASS AND OTHER ITEMS, WHICH WITHOUT BEING BOXED MOVE AT OWNERS RISK, WE SENT A REPAIR MAN OUT TO TOUCHUP ITEMS TO MAKE HIM HAPPY, HE SIGNED OFF THAN COMPLAINED ABOUT OTHER ITEMS. HE OWES US 283.75 BALANCE ON MOVE, WE ARE PUTTING THIS IN CREDIT AND COLLECTION AGENCY FOR PAYMENT. WE HAVE ALL SIGNED BILL OF LADING, JOB PERFORMANCE REPORTS,AND ALL CUSTOMERS SIGNED LIABILITY PAPERS SIGNED BY MR [redacted]. Final Consumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)In regards to not paying for my move, I was already charged almost $2500, which I was told was more than enough. The remaining balance I told them would be paid after items are either fixed or replaced. It is also completely inaccurate that I did not complain about the move during the move. How could I have not combined about the move if the movers were the ones that were shown the damage as it came off the truck. Also the damage to the mattress was brought to my attention right after they opened the truck door and before they brought it in. I actually have pictures and videos of this, the video also has audio with the person who is making false aquisitions on the other end of the phone before the truck was even started to be unpacked. This is blatant proof of the start of his lie. Also if there wasn't anything broken or I signed off on everything being ok then why would he make an initial attempt to send out someone to correct items. The guy they sent out was great but the extent of the damage was not known and an entire day was not long enough for him to finish even half the items. Plus it was a cosmetic fix which still leaves the structural integrity not as it was prior to move. The person they sent was not capable of fixing all items since he works on wood, therefore their was never an attempt to at least clean the mattress....I have pictures of all the damaged furniture with their movers still in the background therefore once again the complaint was initialized before they left. And during the entire process. I can provide any necessary documentation a from pictures, videos, audio, receipts for items to see how new they were to receipts paid to [redacted] and Sargent....I will get you anything you need to make sure they do not get away with this.
