I, [redacted] , the owner of SweetPea, was the one who handled this refundI explained my store policy to the customer, and additionally it is posted online, and on the front of my cash register in the store There is a lot that goes into order taking, more than just pen and paperWe also have many, many fees that we pay to process credit cards so when cards are used to pay, and then refund, we loseWith that said, we rarely ever received cancellationsI do understand that there are always circumstances that require cancellationI've only had to exercise my policy times in years, with the other two customers being very understandingI am a small business owner who has an incredible customer service reputation in the community, and who tries to give back as much as possibleThis customer, during the refund conversation, only replied "that's unfortunate" when I explained the policyShe did not seem upset, angry, flustered, or argumentative about the fee in any wayI find it unfortunate that instead of calling me back to discuss her feelings she complained publicallyI would have handled it immediately, had she calledI left her a message this morning asking her to call, and stating I would refund the additional $backBased on my conversation with her on the telephone, I have to say, I was shocked she took the time to complain so quickly, without trying to resolve it with me

My real issue with her is the fact that she charged me 20 percent of my refund, claiming it covered credit card processing fees which normally are only 2.5 percent. I feel that is an unfair business practice and an exorbitant fee to charge.Also, I checked Sweetpea's website and the 20 percent refund charge was not stated.
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

I do understand that there are always circumstances that require cancellation. I've only had to exercise my policy 3 times in 6 years, with the other two customers being very understanding. I am a small business owner who has an incredible customer service reputation in the community, and who tries to give back as much as possible. This customer, during the refund conversation, only replied "that's unfortunate" when I explained the policy. She did not seem upset, angry, flustered, or argumentative about the fee in any way. I find it unfortunate that instead of calling me back to discuss her feelings she complained publically. I would have handled it immediately, had she called. I left her a message this morning asking her to call, and stating I would refund the additional $16 back. Based on my conversation with her on the telephone, I have to say, I was shocked she took the time to complain so quickly, without trying to resolve it with me.
