Bond Building Reviews (3)

I am responding to the complaint from the ***the time limit has been lengthy do to weather conditions and I do have other jobs going on at the same timeThe building we built is wood siding to represent log lookwhen it is wet and over the winter been cold you cannot apply stain or chinking
we are working on the job now trying to finishwe have to finish pieces of metal on the porch, trim out fan,and chinkingalso we have done additional jobs other than this cabinwe also had to jack up existing cabin due to the fact it was falling. This could go on I have been trying to help them along on anything they wanted done including unloading a greenhouse out of a tractor trailer due to the fact that their were not enough people home that day to do thisI am going to finish with no added extrasThanks

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted].  The contractor contacted me a couple of days after I filed the complaint with Revdex.com, and began work right after that. By contrast, I had gotten nowhere with him prior to that time, despite months of trying. In response to his remarks, I would just like to remind him that poor planning  on his part (i.e., scheduling too many jobs) is not a satisfactory explanation for failure to complete a 2-month job in over 6 months. And as far as weather is concerned, there were plenty of things that had to be done other than staining, but he never bothered to do any of them (and therefore I could not use the building in any way). Furthermore, there were quite a number of mild days this winter during which the staining could have been completed. Note that almost nothing was done since October.  If the job is completed in the next two weeks, this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.Regards,[redacted]

Review: Bond Building was contracted to build a 24x18 cabin. Proposal was made on 8/19/2014, contract signed on 8/29/14, with a total price of $24,164. At the time, I discussed how contractors sometimes don't show up to complete jobs promptly, and how unacceptable that was -- Bond assured me that wouldn't be a problem. Down payment was made at the time of the contract signing, totaling $7249.20. This included repairs to an existing cabin that was next to the new building. Contract stated that the project would be complete within 60 days "weather permitting". On 9/2, an adjustment to the contract was made, to add additional storage, for an additional $1,440, which was paid at the time of supplemental contract signing. On 9/12, the second installment of the original contract was paid, $7,249.20. On 10/20, he promised to finish up the work in time for a party on 10/25, and needed money for supplies. A check was paid for $4,000. While he got some work done for the party, he did not complete the work in any sense. An additional payment was made on 10/31 of $5145, and another for staining the outside of the cabin was made on 11/4/14 ($2055).

Bond relatively quickly put up the frame of the building, and did the needed repairs on the old cabin. He then took months to put on the metal roof, and didn't adequately secure it so that holes have formed at screw locations as wind has picked up and flexed it repeatedly. Since then, progress has been glacial, and almost no progress has been made in months, with the exception that 2 weeks ago a subcontractor stained the outside of the building. Bond does not answer phone calls, and only sends text messages, in which he has repeatedly promised to come to finish the job, but doesn't show up.

Among many other attempts to contact him, here are just a few (we have dozens more recorded, this is an abbreviated list):

11/20/14 SMS to Bond; "[redacted], what's happening with my workshop? I'd really like to start using it be can't move anything in until it's inspected. Really would like to get the rood fixed and insulation finished too so that I can heat it." [Received no response]

12/30/14 SMS to Bond: "[redacted], it's been months since we've seen or heard from you in spite of repeated messages and voice mails. Please contact me and let me know when you'll finish the job at my place."

[response later that day]: "I'm not starting back till Monday the 5th .. the past 3 weeks we have been very sick between all the family. Didn't get out till after Xmas just for short while. Believe me I want it done asap just like you. Thanks."

1/5/15 SMS to Bond: SMS to Bond about roof coming loose with water leaks. [Response: getting subcontractors lined up, would be here Friday 1/9.]

1/9/15 Didn't show up, blamed wind chill.

1/15 SMS to Bond: "Haven't heard from you for a week. Any plans to work on the cabin?" [No response]

1/15 SMS to Bond: "Can you please contact me by phone?" [no response]

3/23 Sub stained outside of cabin.

Still need to have roof completed and existing section repaired, fan installed, concrete pad poured, insulation completed, chinking applied, various others.Desired Settlement: There have been MANY opportunities for Bond to have completed this job, many months ago. We have had another contractor working on a separate outdoor project at our house over the same period. They got the job done and didn't seem to have all the problems that Bond does!
