Bond Driving School Reviews (9)

I am rejecting this response because:  I disagree with Bond completely.  There was no mention of a "no refund" policy until I asked for one.  I have email with day sent to prove it was AFTER I asked to cancel.  When I asked why, I only received the same no-answer-answer.  They refuse to address issues or even answer my questions.  Show me when I agreed to purchase training and have additional equipment installed.  Why is Bond's interpretation of verbal statements any more valid than mine?  We spent $51,000 on a van equipped by Mobility Works to meet my requirements, so why on earth would I agree to have MORE equipment installed?   So I guess we go to court.

I am rejecting this response because:Dear Mr[redacted]As 81 year old citizens, my wife, [redacted] and I learned years ago to never misrepresent facts.  The facts in this case are as stated in my letter to CEO Sacramento Revdex.com dated August 11, 2016.I have a copy of the email sent to me by Mr. [redacted] on April 12 not the 14th as he stated.  Unfortunately, I am not able to send it attached to this message but I am sending it via USPS today for your information. Your review of that email makes it clear that Mr. [redacted] was fully aware that I had called him that morning as the email from him was sent at 12:31 p.m. on Tuesday April 12th.  You will receive that information in a few days.  Sincerely,[redacted]Colonel USMC (Ret)

Please understand at no time did Mr. [redacted] inform us that there would be a cancellation fee of $250.  However, we are fine with you closing out this case. Sincerely, [redacted]

Customer completed initial evaluation and was in need of van equipment van that we have available for her.  All she needs to do is call the office and schedule an appointment. her hand control evaluation shows that she requires 12 hours of in car training for her certification of ability to use...

hand control. Bond Driving School has a strict no refund policy and  therefore the  hours and account never expires.  All she has to do is call us to schedule the training and get certified.

Customer is aware of the reduction in refund due to the cost associated with loss of an scheduled appointment. The customer said during negotiation that we could charge a nominal cancelation fee.  We were unable to replace the instructor lessons due to the nature of the training and the short notice.  This matter has been resolved and customer and Bond Driving School are not seeking further actions [redacted]Owner

Review: I have decided to cancel my future, pre-paid driving lessons with the hopes of getting a refund for the lessons that were not used. Put of nowhere, the company tells me that I will not be allowed to receive a refund for a class on the next day because of a 24 hour cancellation policy they had. I was never before informed of such a policy beforehand, only after I have decided to cancel. A couple days before, an Bond Driving School associate informed me of rather than rescheduling the training that proceeds the day after my driving test, I could keep it just in case, and make changes later if necessary. Now, they want to charge me for it even though I will not be able to use it. I am being charged a total of $1150 for 4 hours or 2 lessons of bioptic training. The reason I did not continue with the lessons was because I was apparently able to take the driving test regardless of taking the class. Initially, They told me that it was mandatory for me to take their lessons.

I simply want an appropriate refund of $800, yet they insist on only refunding me approximately $450.Desired Settlement: I want an appropriate refund of $800.

Review: During the middle of March 2016 I decided to forego driving as I was afflicted with neuropathy from the knees down. I felt the need to learn to drive with hands only controls. I contacted Mr. [redacted] at Mobility Works in Chico ([redacted]). Mr. [redacted] said he could configure our automobile for hands only driving, but he no longer provided the actual driving instructions. He had just started referring clients to Mr. [redacted], Bond Driving School in Sacramento and gave me the phone number to contact them. I called Bond Driving School on Monday in Sacramento and gave me the phone number to contact them. I called Bond Driving School on Monday, March 28th and spoke with [redacted]. He quoted a fee of $2,360 which included motel accommodations, food, and expenses for [redacted] who would come out to Ft. Bragg to work with me. We set up the dates of April 18, 19 and 20 for my instructions. He strongly encouraged me to allow him to draft the money right out of our checking account. My wife, [redacted], then talked to [redacted] and gave him the appropriate information to accomplish that. As early as April 11th I decided not to pursue hand controlled driving after all. My decision was influenced by my two adult daughters who felt that I was more greatly neurologically challenged than I cared to admit and not really a candidate for hands only driving. I phoned Mr. [redacted] on April 12th and told him I no longer required/desired the services and asked for a refund of our money. My request for refund of prepaid money for on-site instruction in Ft. Bragg was refused by Mr. [redacted]. He stated that money could only be refunded when the on-site Bond Driving School instructor observed me in training and made a determination that I was not capable of successfully operating a vehicle with hand controlled capabilities. After several email messages over the next several days, Bond Driving School finally sent a check for $610. the per diem, lodging, etc for [redacted] who was to be my instructor. I have discussed the matter of refunding our remaining money ($1,750) with Mr. [redacted] personally via several telephone conversations and email messages. He maintains that his web site contains a statement to the effect that training monies will not be refunded for cancellation of lessons unless the Bond Driving School instructor, after offering a lesson, determines the student is incapable of proceeding. I never went to the Bond Driving School web site because I had contacted them directly with the phone number given to me by Mr. [redacted] of Mobility Works. I have never signed a contract; no paperwork has ever been sent to me nor forms sent via computer for me to fill out. Mr. [redacted] never once mentioned his policy of not refunding prepayments, even when the customer gives almost a week's advance notice of not needing his services. Also, it is interesting to me that the web site defining his no refund policy can only be accessed after a client receives a special code. Unfortunately, that code is not divulged until after money is paid. This protocol resembles entrapment. I have since seen via YELP that other disgruntled Bond Driving School clients have warned others "Never give money up front to Bond Driving School." Mr. [redacted] also boasted that after successfully passing his course, one does not have to go to the DMV to be tested with hand controls. DMV has given him that authority.Desired Settlement: The desired resolution of this matter is a refund of $1,750 for services never received and cancelled about a week before they were to take place. Also, I think the Sacramento Revdex.com should share this information with others to include AARP in order to minimize financial targeting of elders and others by Bond Driving School. Investigation into Bond Driving School business activities is recommended.

Good Morning:In response to the written complaint dated August 11, 2016 sent by: ID # 11634783[redacted]There seems to be some inconsistency in how Mr. [redacted] and I recollect the events so I will do my best at sticking to the facts only but at the same time, addressing the assumptions made by Mr. [redacted] that can be detrimental if not cleared up and could be considered libel/slander.On March 28, 2016, Mr. [redacted] called Bond Driving School inquiring about retaining his independence in driving with the use of hand controls. Mr. [redacted] decided on a program which consisted of:-2 hour evaluation w/prescription report as needed for hand control installation company (value $375)-10 hours of in car training for certification of hand control – five lessons at 2 hours each (value $1750)-30 hours of travel time to his residence – 5 hours travel times 6 lessons (value $1,200)To reduce costs, Mr. [redacted] decided to purchase 10 hours upfront to waive the cost of the evaluation (-$375). And after much further negotiations, we determined that the travel time costs could be drastically reduced (-590) by lodging the instructor, per diem, near his residence for 3 days.As with all of our customers, we do require that the services to be paid in full prior to when services are to be rendered and can be paid by debit or credit with a Visa, Master Card, Discover or by Telecheck over the phone. We would not get the funds in our account until the next business day regardless of how the payment is made so it does not matter to us what form of payment the customer decided to use.Thursday, April 14, 2016, Mr. [redacted] called to cancel the services that were to take place on April 18, 2016. This is not “about a week before” the lessons were to take place, but officially only 4 days (2 of those days being a weekend). This did not leave us any time to fill the instructors’ schedule for those 3 days leaving a loss in revenue not mention the loss in hours that the instructor received on his paycheck. We simply could not replace 3 days of work on one days’ notice. The travel, lodging fee would not fall into the same refund policy so a check in the amount of $610 was promptly processed and mailed to Mr. [redacted].The law requires businesses alike to make their refund/cancellation available to customers. Bond Driving School posts it clearly in our office and on our website, not to mention, of course, verbally via telephone upon request; all of which are available to anyone PRIOR to submitting payment, regardless of how hat payment is made. None of which require a special code to view.Mr. [redacted] stated:“Mr. Mortensen also boasted that after successfully passing his course, one does not have to go to the DMV to be tested with hand controls. DMV has given him that authority”Fact:The DMV does not require those with disabilities to be tested using hand controls to drive unless their doctor has sent a referral to be tested and/or the license is up for renewal. We DO NOT claim to have any authority over the DMV.Mr. [redacted] and the “other disgruntled Bond clients” Mr. [redacted] mentions seeing on YELP are only unhappy with our policies. Not of our services. Clearly, this does not warrant an investigation. Perhaps what should be shared is the importance of gathering all information necessary from any company before submitting any payment.Contrary to our strict “no refund” policy, we have refunded all Mr. [redacted]’s funds (receipt attached) after being strongly advised to do so due to Mr. [redacted]’s status. This small struggling business cannot afford the continued libel/slander.

Review: My name is [redacted] and I am filing a complaint as the company refuses to refund my payment. When I scheduled my first appointment for the 6 hour basic program, I had informed the company of my busy schedule which begun at 8am and I had specifically requested [redacted] only to be my instuctor. Despite this, my given instructor had not arrived even at 7:40 during my 6am appointment. Furthermore, the given instructor is not even listed as an employee on their business website, www.bonddrivingschool.com, and I have not used any of my six hours. I had called the company to ask for a refund as their service was very disappointing and they had refused to refund my payment although there was no contract to be signed nor terms of service to be read. Thank you.Desired Settlement: I would simply like a full refund of my payment. Thank you.

Response:

Students father asked to drive with one specific instructor [redacted]. The appointment was scheduled with another instructor due to the fact that [redacted] was on medical leave. Although we like and appreciate that recommendations of instructors we dot ever guarantee an instructor and we did send out an different instructor. Mr. ** has never requested any refunds from us rather just contacted Revdex.com. we have left many messages with him to even reschedule first lesson over again and offer additional drive test services at no charge to satisfy the account. We do have a no refund policy instructor. I have included our policy with this email.
