Review: I went to this practice due to a problem with my wrist. They saw me, took xrays, and told me they were going to give me a thumb spica wrist brace. I left scheduling a follow up appointment as I was advised if the brace didnt work, they wanted to do cortisone shots. When I received the bill, I saw the charges for my xray and office visit, totally reasonable, and understandable, then I saw the charges for the brace. They charged 350.00 for a brace that I found online by the same company, for 16.00. I contacted the billing department and asked to dispute the charge for the brace, asking if I could return it, or replace it with a new one that I would purchase for 16.00, if they would refund me the 350.00. They said they would not take the brace back, nor allow me to purchase them a new one to remove the charge. They said that 350.00 is what my insurance allowed them to charge up to for it. I completely disagree with this. I contacted my insurance and advised them of the outrageous markup. I also contacted [redacted], the company that makes the brace and advised of the situation. [redacted] themselves told me, there is such thing as patient rejection, and they are able to get return authorization if the doctors office requests it. [redacted] couldnt believe the markup either. through my efforts, I was not able to get Bone and Joint to honor me a refund, no matter what I tried. Completely outrageous, and unfathomable that they wouldnt work with me at all, even when I offered to replace the brace I had with a brand new one if they would remove the charge. Needless to say, I canceled my follow up, and will never return there again. Nor will I refer anyone to them.Desired Settlement: I would appreciate if they would consider my offer to replace the brace, with a brand new one from the same company / maker of the brace ([redacted]), or take my brace back, and send it to [redacted], as that is what [redacted] advised me the doctors office could do, for a full refund. Either way, I would like the charge removed from my bill.

In response to your most recent letter, as part of the waiver process, it is office policy to tell the patient what the potential cost of the brace will be prior to their signing the waiver. Further, patients are told they need this device and can get it either from us or from another place. We do not force patients to get their DME from us. We also checked with [redacted] who is denying that they had the alleged conversation with the patient per their phone records. In fact, [redacted] sets the price of our braces as part of the DME service they provide and sets the markup for the practice.

As stated previously, the cost of the brace is $175.00. We are willing to reduce the price to $100.00.
